Chapter 3 Since you've left, you shouldn't have come back

“I told her to get out, why are you leaving!”

This exclamation, like a celestial sound, stopped Lan Yuxi immediately. She turned and looked back.

“Get her out of here, she’s disgusting to look at!”

Yun Siyan, her face pale, looked at Nan Xiao. Just as she was about to beg for mercy, Lan Yuxi threw her out.

Lan Yuxi closed the door again and hesitated as she walked to the bedside.

“Since you’re awake, shall I remove the needles for you?” she asked cautiously.

“Mhm.”

Her carefulness pierced Nan Xiao’s heart. After responding, he closed his eyes.

He dared not look at her.

The more he looked, the more guilty he felt.

In fact, he had woken up after she finished the last needle, but he didn’t know how to face her, so he hadn’t dared to open his eyes.

He had heard her conversation with Yun Siyan clearly.

When she hit Yun Siyan, he felt incredibly relieved.

Yun Siyan had harbored improper intentions, causing her to bear infamy and be driven away. She deserved to be hit.

“What happened back then, it wasn’t me,” Lan Yuxi said, her voice trembling slightly as she explained.

He didn’t even want to look at her. Lan Yuxi felt he must still resent her for what happened back then.

On the day she was driven away, she hadn’t had a chance to explain to him. This time, upon her return, she had to make things clear.

Everyone in the world could misunderstand her, but he couldn’t!

Nan Xiao slowly opened his eyes, glanced at her once, then turned his head away.

“I know.” He paused, then said with difficulty, “What happened back then, I wronged you.”

Tears streamed down Lan Yuxi’s face. “You didn’t wrong me, it was all my fault. I harmed you… Please don’t ignore me, okay?”

Nan Xiao’s heart ached with every sob.

After a long silence, he finally said, “I’m not ignoring you.”

Lan Yuxi’s eyes lit up with joy. She clasped his hand. “I knew you wouldn’t ignore me. Then… may I stay and take care of you?”

Nan Xiao looked into her sincere, passionate eyes, brimming with stars, and his gaze gradually darkened.

He hesitated for a moment, and under her burning gaze, he slowly withdrew his hand.

Lan Yuxi looked at her empty hand, her smile frozen on her face.

Nan Xiao closed his eyes again. “Since you left, you shouldn’t have come back.”

You’re back, and my heart is in turmoil. But this was something he could never tell her.

Lan Yuxi leaned on the back of the chair, forcing herself to stand steady. “I know. I am a stain on your life, the person you least want to see. But if I don’t come back, what will happen to you? I can’t just watch you sleep like this.”

You are not a stain; you are a treasure held in the palm of my hand!

Nan Xiao’s Adam’s apple bobbed. His voice was unusually hoarse as he said, “I’ve already woken up. You can go now.”

Nan Xiao clenched his fist tightly under the covers. Even though thinking of her caused him pain with every breath, he couldn’t keep her by his side.

If she stayed, seeing her every day, he feared he would lose control and stray further down the wrong path.

But these were words he could not speak to anyone, and could only bear in silence.

Lan Yuxi looked at him, tears welling up in her eyes, never blinking. He still wouldn’t forgive her. Suddenly, she remembered what Nan Zhenting had told her the night before, and her mood brightened considerably.

“I know what you’re worried about. Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone who harmed you get away!”

Nan Xiao’s eyes snapped open, and he glared at her. “You don’t need to manage my affairs! And no one harmed me. That car accident was just an ordinary accident!”

“A slip of the tongue!”

Lan Yuxi snorted coldly and turned to leave.

“You come back here!” Nan Xiao yelled.

Lan Yuxi ignored him completely. He was awake now, and Old Nan would definitely find the best doctors for his recovery. She didn’t need to worry about him.

What she needed to do now was find the person who harmed him, so he would have no lingering worries.

“Xiang Dong, stop her!” Nan Xiao shouted towards the door.

Just then, the door opened. However, it wasn’t Nan Xiang Dong who entered, but Old Madam Nan.

Old Madam Nan looked at her son on the bed with delight, but her expression changed in the next second.

Her venomous gaze fell on Lan Yuxi’s face, as if she could kill her with a look.

“If you’re going to leave, do it quickly!”

Lan Yuxi gave her a half-smile, then walked out.

After Lan Yuxi left, she didn’t return to the hotel but went to a villa on the mountainside.

Since her return to the villa, she hadn’t gone out again, and no one knew what she was up to.

After Lan Yuxi left, Nan Xiao went to the rehabilitation center for systematic training. He hadn’t been in a coma for long, and his physical condition was good, so he was able to take care of himself in less than ten days.

While undergoing rehabilitation, he also handled a considerable amount of official and personal business.

As for Yun Siyan, he didn’t drive her away. Instead, he confined her to a courtyard furthest from him, cut off all contact with the outside world, and even had special personnel deliver her meals.

Yun Siyan caused a lot of trouble because of this, but no one paid her any mind.

Yun Siyan pleaded with the servants delivering food to relay a message to Old Madam Nan. The servant replied that the old madam had gone up the mountain to fulfill a vow with the elder madam and would need to eat vegetarian meals for a full month before returning.

Yun Siyan knew that fulfilling a vow on the mountain didn’t require such urgency. Old madam’s hasty departure was likely Nan Xiao’s idea.

But even if she knew, what could she do?

Was she any different from a prisoner now?

Fifteen days later, the news of Nan Xiao appearing at the Nan Group’s office building directly hit the trending list.

At the same time, Lan Yuxi, dressed in a red dress, appeared at the Italian airport.

Who said there was a difference in aesthetics between East and West?

With her peerless beauty and her commanding presence that seemed to stretch to the heavens, she made countless foreigners stop and stare.

Lan Yuxi, having experienced grand occasions before, was completely unfazed. She elegantly boarded a stretched limousine…

Nan Corporation President’s Office.

Nan Xiang Dong knocked and entered.

Nan Xiao raised an eyelid to glance at him, then returned his attention to the documents in his hand.

“Boss, the operation in Italy has failed.”

Nan Xiao frowned almost imperceptibly. “Were Xiang Nan and the others injured?”

“No, by the time they arrived, Levin had already been captured.”

“Do we know who did it?”

“No, Levin had so many enemies… Do we need to investigate?”

A figure suddenly flashed through Nan Xiao’s mind. He then asked, “Where is Lan Yuxi?”

Nan Xiang Dong was taken aback by the question. They were discussing serious matters, and why was he asking about Lan Yuxi?

“She should still be at the villa on the mountainside.”

“Should be?” Nan Xiao’s voice turned colder.

“I’ll call and ask right away.”

Nan Xiao stared at him coldly, his eyes as dark as the night sky, as if they could swallow the entire world in the next moment.

Nan Xiang Dong shivered inexplicably. After he called and confirmed with the brothers guarding the villa on the mountainside that Lan Yuxi was still there, he breathed a sigh of relief.
