Chapter 17 Missed the Exam Time

Yu He found the examination hall with only half an hour left in the second morning session.

She was stopped by the invigilator outside the venue, who said, "You cannot re-enter the examination hall fifteen minutes after it has started."

Yu He: "..."

Just then, her phone rang, displaying Ye Jianming's name.

As soon as she answered, Ye Jianming's furious voice came through the receiver:

"Yu He, who gave you the gall to skip the exam! Are you deliberately trying to tarnish the Ye family's reputation?!

"I don't care where you are now, get home immediately! Don't embarrass yourself out there..."

So noisy.

Yu He hung up the phone expressionlessly.

Ye Jianming's scolding hadn't finished when he heard a beeping sound and realized the call had been hung up!

His anger flared up again, and he dialed back.

This time, the call was hung up before it could be answered.

Ye Jianming was so angry he wanted to smash his phone, daring to hang up on his father!

He called back again, unwilling to give up.

"Hello, the number you have dialed is switched off. Please try again later..."

Yu He turned off her phone and called back the invigilator who was heading back to the examination hall.

"Teacher, I think I can still salvage this..."

"You are Yu He?" the invigilator sized her up.

Teacher Miller had specifically asked about her earlier, leaving him with a deep impression.

This was because he disliked students who were late for exams the most.

Such students had poor time management and wouldn't achieve good results, so taking the exam would be a waste.

"Yes," Yu He nodded.

"Come back next semester. You didn't take the first Chinese exam, and you're late for this math exam. Even if you score a perfect score in the afternoon English and comprehensive exams, you won't meet the admission score line."

The invigilator waved her away, telling her to leave quickly.

Yu He stood still. "I can do four papers in the time allotted for this afternoon's two sessions."

The invigilator was stunned. He had been an invigilator for ten years, and this was the first time he had encountered a candidate with such audacious claims.

Even the top student Lu Chenyu wouldn't dare to say such things lightly. And this bumpkin from the mountains dared to boast so grandly!

He sneered dismissively. "Oh? Since you're so capable, why are you still attending high school? Just take the college entrance exam and go to university."

Yu He: "..."

It wasn't impossible, but it would be too ostentatious and could attract unnecessary trouble.

"Student Yu, I'm glad you're still here."

Just then, Director Luo ran over, out of breath.

"Director Luo?" The invigilator was surprised to see him.

Director Luo bent over, supporting his knees, and panted as he spoke to the invigilator, "Teacher Chen, I'd trouble you to work overtime and let Student Yu He complete her entrance exam."

"Why should I?" The invigilator was unhappy upon hearing about overtime, especially for a late student.

Director Luo wiped the sweat from his forehead. "I just received news that Student Yu He was called by Professor Qin to help with something, which caused her to be late for the exam.

"Professor Qin specifically asked me to explain the situation and not to make things difficult for a helpful student."

Yu He: "..."

She was a little surprised and glanced at Director Luo.

Was Qin Beiting being thoughtful?

Or was he doing it deliberately?

Although the invigilator was reluctant to work overtime, when the dean of students personally came and cited Professor Qin, whom even the dean had to show respect, he had to agree despite his displeasure.

After Director Luo left, he led Yu He to an empty classroom and placed four exam papers in front of her.

"Didn't you say you could do four papers in the time of two sessions? Go ahead."

He then turned and sat down at the podium.

Yu He: "..."

It was so difficult to keep a low profile.

She sat down calmly, picked up the papers, and began to read them.

Yu He had a habit when doing problems: she would first read through all the questions.

Once she had a general idea of the questions, she would mentally calculate them before writing.

The invigilator sat at the podium, playing with his phone. He glanced up at Yu He, who was staring at the papers below, seemingly lost in thought and delaying putting pen to paper. He couldn't help but sneer inwardly, feeling annoyed.

With this reaction, she probably couldn't even understand the questions!

And she claimed she could do four subjects in two sessions!

It was simply a waste of time.

Finally, fifteen minutes passed. Yu He picked up her pen with her right hand and began to answer.

The time for the first exam session was up.

The invigilator, precisely on time, said to Yu He, who was still writing:

"Time's up. Hand in the two completed papers first."

Yu He ignored him and continued writing.

"I told you to stop writing, didn't you hear me? What could you possibly accomplish in this short time?"

The invigilator strode over in a few steps, intending to stop her from writing further.

He saw that Yu He's right hand continued to write with the pen, while her left hand picked up two papers and handed them to him without looking up.
