Chapter 395 The Turn of Events

Several cultivators began to curse Jin Lun, having endured much humiliation under him before, they now vented their grievances tenfold.

"You few, once I escape, I will surely find a chance to get rid of you and shut your foul mouths."

"If you dare reveal any intelligence about my Xiongnu people, I will ensure you die without a burial place."

Upon hearing this, the few were instantly stunned. Although they had verbally abused Jin Lun, they were well aware of his capabilities.

Cursing Jin Lun at this moment was tantamount to making an enemy of him.

If Jin Lun truly decided to deal with them, they would have no good outcome.

The thought of that fate filled their hearts with dread, and they were all terrified.

"You still dare to threaten them at this point, you are truly beyond arrogant. I will capture you now and let you experience the same fate as them."

The old God of War, Huo Qing, once again displayed his might, intending to subdue Jin Lun. However, Jin Lun had already prepared himself. When he could no longer bear it, he immediately retreated through the best escape route.

"Kid, don't run, watch as this old man captures you."

The old God of War swiftly pursued. Chu Chen wanted to call out but ultimately closed his mouth and shook his head.

He could only hope that the old God of War could capture Jin Lun. Otherwise, if this fellow escaped, it would truly be a great trouble.

Chu Chen waited on the spot, but the old God of War never returned, causing Chu Chen to worry.

However, he could not leave these few individuals to chase after him, leaving him in a state of helplessness.

"What are those people doing up ahead? Why are three people sitting there?"

"They look like important figures, and there's one standing, probably with them?"

"Why don't we go ask? I see the important figures have been waiting here for a long time, maybe they'll ask for our help."

"Hmph, ask for our help? What could important figures possibly need our help with?"

A few ordinary farmers stopped near Chu Chen, not daring to approach within about ten zhang.

Chu Chen overheard their conversation, his heart stirred, and he beckoned them over.

The few exchanged glances, whispered nervously amongst themselves, and then approached Chu Chen.

"Villagers, don't be nervous. Are you all from the nearby villages?"

Chu Chen said kindly to them.

"Yes, young sir. Have you encountered any difficulties? Do you need help?"

Chu Chen was somewhat curious. Weren't these farmers supposed to be working? Why did they have the leisure to meddle in other people's affairs?

"I have three bad guys here that I need to send to the Prime Minister's Mansion to await judgment, but I can't move them, and my companion hasn't arrived."

Upon hearing this, the farmers' eyes lit up.

"Young sir, you want to hand them over to Prime Minister Chu? It seems these fellows are indeed bad people."

"Let's find a cart to help this young sir, we mustn't delay important matters."

"That's right, these people must be sent away quickly. Prime Minister Chu might be waiting eagerly to deal with them."

Chu Chen heard this and smiled, waving his hand. "What need is there for a cart? They are not worthy of a cart. Just find any wheeled vehicle, preferably a larger one that can carry more."

A farmer nodded. "Young sir, I understand. We have a two-wheeled vehicle here, with a slender body, just enough to fit one person. If placed casually, it can hold all three of them."

Chu Chen's interest was piqued upon hearing this.

"There's such a vehicle? Then quickly find it for me. I thank you in advance. When Prime Minister Chu gives out rewards, I'll give it all to you."

The farmers, however, repeatedly waved their hands. "We don't need rewards. We are helping Prime Minister Chu, not for any reward."

Chu Chen was somewhat surprised and nodded, smiling. "Then thank you all."

The farmers left together and, within half an hour, returned with three handcarts.

"Young sir, you sit in this cart, and we'll pull you along."

Chu Chen quickly waved his hand.

"That won't do. How can I let you pull me? Your farm work is also very hard."

The farmer, however, smiled and waved his hand.

"It's nothing. You are helping Prime Minister Chu, so helping you is like helping Prime Minister Chu."

Chu Chen nodded with a smile.

"So that's how it is. Then I won't refuse. When we reach the Prime Minister's Mansion, Prime Minister Chu will surely reward you."

Along the way, Chu Chen chatted with these farmers, learning much about their lives and the land.

"Young sir, our harvests have been getting better and better these past one or two years, and the taxes we pay are getting lower and lower. We have surplus grain now."

Chu Chen nodded. "I can see that. You all have free time now, otherwise, you wouldn't be here meddling in my affairs."

Hearing this, the farmers chuckled.

One of them asked, "Young sir, what did these three fellows do to be arrested?"

Another immediately replied.

"Does that even need asking? They must have done something to offend Prime Minister Chu."

"That's impossible. Prime Minister Chu is amiable and doesn't get into conflicts with people."

"It's definitely not that they offended Prime Minister Chu, but that they committed some offense."

Chu Chen pointed at the three and said, "Look, are these three any different from us?"

Hearing this, the farmers looked at them and then shook their heads.

"They don't seem any different. Are they outsiders?"

One farmer said.

"No, they must be outsiders. Look at their eyes, their noses, and their height, they seem very different from us."

"What country are they from? Looking closely, they don't seem to be from our Yun Yue Kingdom."

Chu Chen pointed at them and said, "These three are Xiongnu people."

Upon hearing this, the farmers immediately panicked.

"They're Xiongnu people! No wonder Prime Minister Chu captured them. I heard Prime Minister Chu fought with the Xiongnu before and drove them away."

Chu Chen was slightly taken aback. He hadn't expected this matter to be so widely known that even these farmers were aware of it.

"How do you know about this? Are you just listening to rumors?"

A farmer shook his head and said resolutely.

"No, young sir. This is what the important figures in our village told us. Their sources of information are much more extensive than ours."

Chu Chen sneered. He hadn't expected things to take such a turn.

Were the Xiongnu spreading news near Shuangyue City? What were they trying to achieve? Even these farmers knew about it.

Were they trying to create a climate of fear by dealing with him?
