Chapter 1236 Rescue

Chai Yanyu glanced at the time; it was past Wei Yumeng’s usual waking hour.

He sighed and walked over to knock on the door, "Sister, time to get up."

But there was no response from inside.

A bad premonition immediately struck Chai Yanyu.

"Sister!" Chai Yanyu forcefully pushed open Wei Yumeng's door, and as expected, she was nowhere to be found.

Chai Yanyu couldn't believe that even with him guarding her, Wei Yumeng had still managed to escape.

He couldn't even be sure when Wei Yumeng had left.

"Damn it!" Chai Yanyu, frustrated, even shoved the prepared breakfast onto the floor.

He had never felt so useless, letting Wei Yumeng disappear right under his nose.

Just then, there was a sudden knock at the door.

Chai Yanyu jolted, rushed to the door, and opened it, only to see Sara.

"Morning, handsome."

"What are you doing here?" Chai Yanyu frowned. He didn't want to see anyone besides Wei Yumeng right now.

Sara, however, was unbothered and walked into the room on her own. "I suppose you're looking for the beautiful woman who came with you?"

"You know where she is?"

Sara raised an eyebrow. "Of course. She came to me specifically last night, asking for my help to see her husband."

"You mean... she went to that place alone?" Chai Yanyu's voice rose slightly in agitation. "How could you let her go to a place like that by herself?"

But Sara was nonchalant. "She wanted to go, so she went. What else is there to say?"

Chai Yanyu clenched his fists. After a moment’s thought, he strode towards the door.

Since Wei Yumeng had left last night to find Zhan Mohan, and hadn't returned yet, she was likely in danger.

Regardless of whether it was too late, he had to find her, no matter the cost.

But before he could take two steps, Sara called out to him, "You probably can't save her alone. I'll go with you."

Chai Yanyu hesitated for a moment before heading to their destination with Sara.

When Wei Yumeng came to her senses, an entire night had already passed.

"Yumeng, you need to leave here quickly. Once you're out, find others to rescue me."

After spending the night together, Wei Yumeng's emotions had calmed considerably. She had to admit that Zhan Mohan's plan was the best course of action.

Though reluctant, she stood up, ready to leave.

"Mohan, wait for me. We'll get you out soon."

With that, she turned to leave.

Zhan Mohan watched her retreating figure, his heart clouded with a sense of foreboding. He worried if Wei Yumeng could truly escape from here.

But he could do nothing but worry.

Just as Wei Yumeng reached the garage entrance, she heard voices outside the door.

"Search thoroughly. The boss said to capture that woman, whether she's Sara or not, and hand her over to him."

"Yes!"

Wei Yumeng gasped. The people here had likely discovered her presence.

But how was she supposed to get out now?

Chai Yanyu and Sara arrived outside the villa, but they didn't use the main entrance. On their way, they had overheard the guards' conversation.

"Did you hear? Some outsider disguised herself as Sara and sneaked into the villa last night. The boss is furious and still hasn't found her."

"I say, it doesn't matter if she's Sara or not. If the boss catches her, she won't survive."

Chai Yanyu clenched his fists, his tension at its peak.

He couldn't even bear to imagine what would happen to Wei Yumeng if she were captured.

He would never forgive himself then.

Suddenly, Sara clapped him on the shoulder. "Calm down. I think I know where she is."

With that, Sara climbed over the wall first. After observing for a moment, she beckoned to Chai Yanyu.

Only then did Chai Yanyu climb over the wall.

Sara whispered to him, "Going over from here should be the closest route to the garage. However, I've noticed guards patrol here from time to time, so we need to be careful."

Chai Yanyu nodded, and the two of them jumped into the courtyard.

Sara, being familiar with the place, led them skillfully past the guards, and they finally reached the garage entrance.

"Yuyu!"

Wei Yumeng's voice indeed came from that direction.

Just as Chai Yanyu was about to go to her, Sara grabbed his collar and pulled him aside.

Indeed, a guard was approaching. Fortunately, he hadn't noticed their presence.

After the guard left, Chai Yanyu hurried to Wei Yumeng's side.

Wei Yumeng was both surprised and delighted to see Chai Yanyu. She chided him for finding his way to this place, but seeing him filled her with a sense of security.

"Sister, are you alright?" Chai Yanyu scanned her worriedly.

But Wei Yumeng barely paid attention to herself, quickly telling Chai Yanyu, "I found Mohan. He's really here."

Hearing this, Chai Yanyu felt a pang of anger. His entire focus was on Wei Yumeng.

Yet, upon seeing him, she only cared about Zhan Mohan's situation.

Although he understood Wei Yumeng's obsession with Zhan Mohan, this particularly sensitive moment made it difficult for him to control his emotions.

"Sister, why are you still only thinking about him? Don't you realize how dangerous your situation is right now?"

Wei Yumeng lowered her head, realizing her impulsive actions had been reckless.

"Alright, you can talk later after we get out. It was easy enough to get in, but getting out will be difficult." Sara remained vigilant, her eyes fixed on the surroundings.

Indeed, even Wei Yumeng noticed that the guards were searching more frequently.

Sara took a deep breath. "If they can't find us, they'll likely intensify their search inside the villa. By then, none of us will be able to escape."

Moreover, at this critical juncture, being caught would only lead to one outcome: death.

"I'll go out and draw them away. Once they catch me, they'll naturally relax their guard, and you can find an opportunity to escape."

As she finished speaking, she prepared to step out, but Wei Yumeng grabbed her arm.

"Wait, you can't do that! If they catch you, you'll be..." Wei Yumeng couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence.

But Sara took a deep breath. "People like us, our lives are bound to end due to various circumstances. Perhaps this kind of ending isn't so bad for me."

"Don't say that. You're different from them."

But Sara slowly pulled her arm away. "Since you are Yichen's family, I must protect your safety. This is the only thing I can do for him, so please grant me this."
