Chapter 1038 When Will You Give Up

If this situation had happened in the past, Kai would surely have been moved by Catherine's pitiful appearance, but now everything was different.

Kai watched her performance coldly.

Seeing Kai's reaction, Catherine knew that no matter what she said or did now, Kai would no longer easily believe her.

However, Catherine had nothing to fear now, as Kai was in trouble himself and could no longer be a threat to her.

So, she decided to let go and stopped pretending. She sneered at Kai.

"Everything you know is correct. The child was my plan. It was all to get revenge on Wei Yumeng. Things between her and me were never that simple, and only this way could she realize her mistake."

Catherine said this with a dismissive look at Kai. "If you want to blame anyone, blame yourself. If you weren't so stupid, how could you have been fooled by me time and again?"

Hearing this, Kai was furious. All his feelings for Catherine had always been love. If he hadn't loved her so much, how could he have done so many things for her?

Yet, the woman he loved most had torn apart his love for her with her own hands, even trampling it underfoot.

"You're going too far!" Kai stood up again, agitated. "Linlin, I really misjudged you. I was blind to have fallen for a woman like you!"

Catherine maintained an arrogant stance. "What's the use of you knowing all this now? You're back here again. What can you do to me?"

After saying this, Catherine clearly didn't want to talk to Kai anymore. She turned and left the meeting room, leaving Kai alone on the other side of the glass, watching her retreating back with hatred.

Catherine returned home with no worries about the matter. Just as she had told Kai, he had no time or opportunity to bother her now.

She didn't regret falling out with Kai at all, as she had never truly loved the man.

Kai had always been nothing more than her pawn, and until now, this pawn had indeed been under her control.

Catherine sneered at Kai's photo on her phone and then deleted all evidence of Kai's presence in her life. From now on, they would truly be people from two different worlds, never to see each other again.

Wei Yumeng and Zhan Mohan were invited to the police station again.

Because Kai was caught red-handed, the evidence against him was conclusive, and he couldn't escape. All that was needed was for them to sign some documents to formally prosecute Kai.

But Wei Yumeng hesitated when it came time to sign. She looked up at the police officer. "Can we discuss this further?"

Although the police officer found it strange that there was anything to discuss, according to common sense, they did have the right to consider.

So, the officer left, giving Zhan Mohan and Wei Yumeng some space.

Zhan Mohan looked at Wei Yumeng. "No matter what you decide, I will support you."

"You know what I'm thinking?"

Zhan Mohan nodded slightly. "Although things have reached this point, up until now, even Kai has only been a victim manipulated by Catherine. To resolve this completely by blaming everything on Kai is not a good choice."

Wei Yumeng pondered, "I was thinking the same. Moreover, Kai and Catherine were once the closest people. He holds more evidence against Catherine than we do. If we deal with him, won't Catherine escape justice?"

"Since Catherine used Kai to deal with us, why can't we learn from her tactics?"

Wei Yumeng and Zhan Mohan exchanged a smile. They had reached a consensus.

Catherine hadn't left her house for a few days. Firstly, the Feng family was still watching her. Secondly, she had nothing to worry about for the time being, as Kai was in no condition to do anything to her.

Catherine was in an unusually good mood. She even went to Song Lijun and offered to cook a meal.

"Mom, let me cook today. I saw some simple and delicious recipes online. I'll make them for you to try."

Song Lijun was a little surprised. "It seems Linlin is in a good mood today?"

Catherine smiled. "Yes, I'm okay. I just feel like there's nothing to worry about for now, and I feel much more relaxed."

But at that moment, her phone rang.

Catherine hummed a tune as she opened her phone. To her surprise, it was a text message from Kai: "Linlin, I'm out. I want to talk to you alone."

Catherine swayed, disbelieving. How could Kai send her a text message at this time?

Logically, hadn't he been taken to the detention center by now?

Regardless of the reason, she certainly couldn't agree to meet him so easily. Their relationship had deteriorated to this point, and meeting alone would be very dangerous.

Catherine wanted to pretend she hadn't seen the text message and deleted it.

But her face had turned pale. She couldn't lie to herself; she was indeed in trouble.

In the following days, Catherine received various calls and messages from Kai, bombarding her.

At first, Catherine would occasionally glance at them, then hang up the calls and delete the messages. Later, the frequency of calls and texts increased so much that Catherine dared not touch her phone at all.

Moreover, even the ringing of other people's phones would startle Catherine.

Song Lijun still noticed the change in Catherine and asked with concern, "Linlin, what's wrong with you lately? You look very unusual."

Catherine just shook her head blankly. "No, nothing."

Song Lijun just sighed. She now believed that Catherine's condition was due to the recent loss of her child and that she hadn't recovered yet.

To avoid Song Lijun noticing anything, Catherine confined herself to her room.

But the phone ringing, like devilish whispers, still sounded from time to time. She had to turn off her phone completely.

Even so, she still felt like her phone was ringing.

Catherine was almost driven mad. She couldn't take it anymore.

"Kai, what do you want me to do? When will you give up?"

She seemed to shout, throwing the pillow aside. She knew she couldn't keep avoiding this any longer and had to face it.
