Chapter 760 You Are Unworthy

"What good would it do for you to go? Wei Yumeng is as stubborn as a mule, dead set on not letting Wei Jin go!"

Yin Fang glanced at Wei Anguo dismissively. When she had gone to the hospital to beg Wei Yumeng, Wei Anguo had been nowhere to be found!

Wei Anguo’s face flushed with embarrassment. Last time, Yin Fang had called him back to beg Wei Yumeng with her, but he had been too proud.

Who could have imagined that Wei Yumeng wasn't even a child of the Wei family!

"I, I have a way this time! She'll definitely listen to me obediently." Seeing Yin Fang roll her eyes at him, Wei Anguo retorted, his face turning red. Things were different now; he held that trump card.

"You? What good idea could you possibly come up with? We can't even save ourselves, let alone worry about anything else!" Yin Fang turned away, ignoring Wei Anguo, dismissing his words as empty comfort.

Wei Anguo stamped his feet in frustration. He clutched the blood type booklet in his hand, feeling a surge of confidence.

He couldn't bring himself to tell Yin Fang about Gu Shuyi's infidelity; such family shame would only invite ridicule for his incompetence.

And he had been raising someone else's child for decades for free!

"Just wait at home for my good news." Wei Anguo, having been frustrated for a long time, finally blurted out the sentence and then, without even sitting down properly, rushed out into the heavy rain.

The main door slammed shut, leaving only a trail of muddy footprints in the entryway.

Noticing the sudden silence, Yin Fang looked up to see the doorway empty. Wei Anguo had actually left.

"Hey! Take an umbrella!"

Yin Fang hadn't expected Wei Anguo to be so eager. She hurried to the door and shouted after him.

Wei Anguo paid no heed. He was energized, his goal clearly set in the direction of the hospital.

The heavy rain continued to fall. Occasionally, lightning would flash across the sky, illuminating it with a terrifying purple glow.

Due to the torrential downpour, the hospital room was extremely quiet, the only sound being the relentless drumming of rain. Wei Yumeng tilted her head back, stretching her stiff neck.

The air conditioning hummed, maintaining a comfortable temperature. A vase of beautiful flowers sat on the bedside table, along with a plate of sliced fruit. On the other side lay a laptop, several books, and various writing utensils.

Wei Yumeng leaned back against the soft cushions. Her once delicate face had regained a healthy flush after this period of recovery. Her dark hair shone with a lustrous sheen. She was comfortably nestled on the hospital bed, a book in her hands.

When Wei Anguo sneaked into the hospital, this was the scene he beheld, a stark contrast to his own disheveled state.

Wei Jin was still suffering, he and Yin Fang were living frugally, and they were constantly worried that the Zhan family would send them away…

Yet here was Wei Yumeng, recuperating at her leisure. Why should she live such a good life, especially… when she was an illegitimate child!

Wei Anguo's anger surged. He kicked open the door and barged in unceremoniously, then sat down in a chair.

The sudden noise startled Wei Yumeng. She looked up, her expression unruffled, and her gaze fell upon the uninvited Wei Anguo. She closed her book.

She had anticipated this day for a while. After Yin Fang's failed plea, Wei Anguo was bound to come knocking.

"You're later than I expected."

The commotion attracted a nurse. Wei Yumeng gestured for the nurses to remain calm and observed Wei Anguo.

"Bring him a glass of water."

In Wei Yumeng's memory, Wei Anguo had always maintained a polished image, unlike the state he was in now.

Wei Anguo was soaked through. His hair clung to his forehead, his trousers dripped water, and his shoes were caked with mud, leaving a trail of water and dirt on the clean floor.

A nurse brought in a glass of water and placed it beside Wei Anguo before nervously leaving.

Wei Yumeng noticed the nurses' reaction and a smile played on her lips. It wasn't surprising; Wei Anguo's furious entrance and angry demeanor made him appear like a madman on the verge of attack.

"Wei Yumeng, spare me the nonsense! Since you knew I was coming, you should know why!"

Wei Anguo roared, as if to bolster his own courage. He wiped the water from his face, unsure if it was rain or sweat.

"I know. You want me to let Wei Jin go, don't you?" Wei Yumeng stretched languidly, her expression as calm as ever. Her lips parted slightly. "You're here for nothing more than to spew such platitudes."

It was one thing for her stepmother to come and stir up trouble, but now her father was here to argue too. Still, she had never expected any conscience from Wei Anguo.

"Wei Yumeng, how dare you speak to me like that! You don't even call me father anymore?"

Wei Anguo cursed through gritted teeth. He was right; someone else's illegitimate child was never truly loyal. Even without this revelation, Wei Yumeng still didn't see him as a father.

Wei Yumeng let out a scornful snort as if she had heard a joke. She raised her eyelids and stared quietly at Wei Anguo.

"You still know you're my father."

This simple sentence struck Wei Anguo like a blow. He clenched his fists, glaring at Wei Yumeng. Through her, he seemed to see Gu Shuyi.

The woman, long deceased, wore the same faint smile as in photographs, as if mocking Wei Anguo for being kept in the dark for so long.

"Wei Yumeng, I finally understand why you've… always been so arrogant…"

Wei Anguo laughed in extreme anger, throwing his head back in a wild, unhinged guffaw, his features contorting into a savage mask.

His maniacal laughter sent shivers down Wei Yumeng's spine. She furrowed her brow and finally looked at Wei Anguo properly.

Had his longing for Wei Jin driven him mad? Had his mental state deteriorated?

Before Wei Yumeng could react, Wei Anguo suddenly grabbed the untouched cup of water and, in a fit of rage, hurled it at Wei Yumeng!

The cup shattered on the floor. The warm water splashed onto Wei Yumeng's cheek and slowly trickled down.

Wei Anguo had at least maintained some control; he only dared to throw the cup at the floor beside Wei Yumeng. The clear water pooled on the ground, and the glass shards glittered in the lightning.

"Wei Yumeng, did you know all along that you were an illegitimate child?"
