Roland continued, "Since returning from California, you've been living here with me. Here, my name is Idris Elba, and only a few people call me Roland Deshan. And your name is Jimmy Yang, your father's name is Sheng Yang."
"Since the 80s, Jack and I have lived here. Jack left after he became an adult. Then you lived here too, until two years ago when you left."
(The storyline here follows the movie's plot, where it doesn't specify when Jack Chambers arrived in the Dark Tower World. It seems it should be after 2010, but according to the "Gunman" novel, Jack is from New York in 1977. Thus the Gunman who stays in the current world after defeating the man in black has his time set in 1977. Don't dwell on the modern content in the movie; after all, it's a different universe.)
"After I stayed in this world, Jack and I used his Flash Spirit ability to search for rifts between this world and other worlds. We destroyed the nearby monsters, letting the rifts heal on their own or destroying the controllers to close the rifts."
"When I met you and your father, I was closing the rift in Death Valley. That rift connected to a world similar to what you would call Hell in your legends. Your father was attacked and killed by a demon that came out of the rift."
"After I brought you back, I started teaching you how to use a gun, and you learned for eight years. The so-called Revolver Talent you just mentioned is probably the muscle memory left from those years."
"Since Jack left, without the prophecy of the Flash Spirit, I've rarely been able to find other rifts. Two years ago, I learned from the news about monsters appearing on a barren mountain in Big Bend National Park. I took you there to deal with it, and after we got back, you left here with a gun until today."
Jimmy remained silent, quietly digesting what Roland had just told him. Having said that, Roland stopped and said no more.
Jimmy, "I have a few questions. First, what kind of demon killed my father?"
Roland, "A kind of small demon, bipedal, with four arms, and parts of its body would emit green flames."
Jimmy, "So, after my father died, you brought me back. What about my father's body?"

Jimmy, "You just mentioned that after you stayed in this world, I didn't hear wrong, did I? Where are you from?"
Roland, "Another world, one similar to the medieval era. We didn't return after defeating our enemy. Jack should have told you about this. He was also a participant."
Jimmy, "Why did I leave? What exactly happened in Big Bend National Park? What could make an 18-year-old leave the place he's lived for 8 years and wander?"

Roland looked at Jimmy, "Your previous soul emitted an aura of violence, which I can understand. You witnessed your father's death at the hands of a Demon, and now that aura has disappeared. However, I can still feel the strength of your soul. To me, you are very similar to Jack, except his talent was the Flash Spirit, which could foresee certain images. As for you, I am not so sure."
Jimmy knew his own situation. He had crossed over from a past life and taken direct control of this body, which clearly did not match his soul.
From his own experiences, he could infer that this world was not safe. The world rifts that Roland had just mentioned were likely real, which explained why he could cross over. There must have been a rift near the little stone city, and when he came over, it was like his soul possessed Jimmy's original body.
Then what about the original soul of Jimmy? Had it disappeared, or was it suppressed by his soul after he took possession?

Roland, "No, I can't see souls' appearances, I can only sense evil and danger."

Jimmy looked at Roland's face and nodded. This was the first time he had called him Jimmy, apart from their initial meeting.
Roland's mouth twitched upward, no matter what, Jimmy had lived with him for eight years. Seeing this child again made Roland feel happy.
Jimmy was not the real Jimmy, but he did not want to reject Roland's kindness. Moreover, Jimmy was pretty sure that Roland had discovered something, but Roland no longer had any intention to kill him.
Roland might have been a gunman once, but now he just looked like an elderly man with nearly all white hair.
