Fat bamboo

Chapter 179: Pressure is the motivation

Jimmy decided to withdraw the funds, and his previous idea had completely failed. Well, he couldn't have gotten involved in this disaster anyway, so he might as well pretend he knew nothing about it.

Now that the money was being returned, Jimmy started thinking about the housing plans he had previously set aside.

Jimmy, "Justin, if the funds are withdrawn, can I use them to buy a house?"

Justin, "Just wait for now, I will find someone to help you manage the company structure and register a company overseas. Once everything is settled, then you can move this money. It's really tiring, can't you learn a bit more? I remember you're still taking night classes."

Jimmy, "No way, I don't know many people in finance and law. I can't possibly go to a law firm that cooperates with the police station for advice. As for night school, eh, let's just say I'm doing it for a diploma. I hardly remember much of what's on the textbooks after the exams are over."

Justin looked at Jimmy speechlessly, frustrated at his lack of progress. When he first met Jimmy, he thought of recruiting a rising star from the police force. At that time, Jimmy had great prospects in the police ranks of Little Rock, being brave, a minority, and well-liked by everyone.

After working together for a long time and pushing Jimmy to a higher position, he could be of more value in cooperation. Now it seemed that, before Jimmy could rise, he would have to play babysitter for a long time.

Justin stood up and said to Jimmy, "Let's go, it's time to head out."

Jimmy followed Justin back to the bar where Justin was busy behind the counter. Jimmy refilled his drink and then left the bar to have fun.

Jones's bar wasn't operating normally today. The lights inside were bright, completely unlike the usual dim atmosphere of the bar. Jones was sitting on a sofa in the booth drinking, while a few minions sat around without speaking much.

Soon after, the security at the door brought a few people in, the leader being another bald white man who sat down next to Jones.

Jones, "Harold, any news?"

Harold, "My men have checked, no one was working there last night. The butcher's family incident wasn't our doing."

Harold gestured to the people around them, and one came over to pour him a drink from a bottle on the table.

Harold took a sip and asked Jones, "How about you? Have you asked around?"

Jones ran his hand over his bald head and then said, "Of course I've asked, FK. If I find out who did it, I'm really going to mess him up. It's a good thing LRPD's Chris came early this morning, or else that bastard the butcher would have come straight for me."

Harold, "Jones, you do realize the butcher guy lives in your district, right?"

Jones slapped the table, "Who would have thought! We only knew there was a tough guy in the station nicknamed the butcher, no one knew who he was. If it weren't for the Jacksonville incident, who would have thought the butcher would turn out to be a yellow-skinned monkey!"

Harold glared at Jones, "Watch your words, Jones."

Jones' mouth gaped open, then he grimaced, "OKOK. Harold, you didn't see the butcher's face, an overly young Asian guy, looked about 20, 25 at most.

"Such a person walking on the street, everyone would think he's just a college student or an international student, how could they possibly connect him with a butcher who killed more than 20 people a year?"

Harold, "Regardless, such a person should be respected, even though he's a police officer. Have you contacted anyone else?"

Jones, "Yeah, I've contacted the cripple in the South District during the day, but he hasn't given me any news yet."

Harold, "OK, I'll head back first. Jones, get this sorted out quickly. God bless you."

Jones gritted his teeth as Harold stood up and left the bar. He picked up his drink, finished it, and then slammed the glass onto the floor.

"Notify all the guys below. Find everyone who went to the butcher's apartment building yesterday. I just can't believe we can't find that person."

The urgency between Jones and Harold wasn't just about Jimmy's track record. After the Jacksonville incident, several bosses received specific information and not only pressured Chief James but also instructed their underlings to keep an eye on the butcher. If such a symbolic figure ran into trouble, they would all be in hot water.

The butcher had such a nickname at his age, clearly a rising star. Such people represent not just themselves, but also the face of the police force. Losing face is not something anyone can just swallow.

For the bosses, the unwritten rules were important. Maintaining order was more in their interest than chaos. Thus, since a new rising star appeared in the police, they needed to redefine the unwritten rules based on this. The police wouldn't bother them unnecessarily, and they wouldn't deliberately stir trouble for the police.

Of course, they couldn't control everyone, so as long as their own people were informed, that was enough. It wasn't mandatory.

Jones was unlucky, as Jimmy's apartment happened to fall within his territory, so the problem landed on his head. Confirming that the deed wasn't done by his own men, he still needed to find out who was causing the trouble. If Jimmy held a grudge, even if Jimmy couldn't manage the city area, it wouldn't be hard for other cops to cause trouble.

While Jones was distressed, Jimmy had already gone out to have fun with a girl.

The next morning, Jimmy returned to the police station, continuing his shift. However, in his spare time, Jimmy still called the shorting agency he had contacted earlier to prepare to retrieve the funds. I won't go into the details here, but the result was that Jimmy lost a commission fee, but successfully got the funds back in his account several days later.

Jimmy also got in touch with LRPD's Chris, who so far had no relevant information. Due to the lack of surveillance, it was impossible to locate the suspect.

Chris was very diligent. Together with a patrol officer, he inquired with Jimmy's neighbors and the surrounding residents. No one had any particular impressions, so this theft case had to be temporarily shelved, waiting for news from Jones's side.

On the third day, Jones finally got some useful news. A minion had found out that the brother of a man killed by Jimmy during the Jacksonville incident had been spotted near Jimmy's apartment.

Although there was no evidence it was him, he had indeed approached Jimmy's apartment and had since disappeared.

Jones arranged for people to look for this man and also contacted LRPD's Chris.
