Chapter 56: Initiate Exams Pt. 2: Fair Warning(Bonus Chapter)

Ambrose came and stood in front of them, and Thamoryn asked him to go on with showing his own skill.

Cassian, who had been staring right at him, nodded.

Ambrose turned his eyes toward the Grand Magus and said, "My magic is a bit out of convention, so permit me to show it how I can."

Thamoryn looked at him for a few moments with a straight face. She didn’t like the idea, but she did know his magic wasn’t the type to just shoot a blast out.

So she motioned for him to go ahead and do what he had to.

He turned toward his captain and said, "Captain, I’ll need you for this part."

Cassian, without any further questions, stood from his seat and walked toward Ambrose.

"Please cast and maintain any spell," Ambrose said.

Cassian nodded and used the supplementary spell levitation. This lifted him slightly above the ground.

Ambrose stretched his hand out toward Cassian and used his theft magic to steal the levitation spell.

This made Cassian’s feet land on the ground. The guild captains had started looking with puzzled expressions at what happened, except for Cassian and the Grand Magus.

Thamoryn had a rough understanding of it; this boy had just stolen magic.

He had developed his Theft Magic past the stealing of objects.

But that wasn’t all Ambrose had to show them. To their greatest surprise and shock, he started levitating right after.

This made even Thamoryn blink twice. Now not only could Ambrose steal magic, he could also use the stolen magic.

"When did you develop your magic to be this capable?" Thamoryn asked.

"It became a thought after that day at your office," he said with a smirk on his face.

He was referring to the particular moment when Thamoryn had tossed him away like a rag.

Thamoryn looked at him with no particular expression on her face, ignoring the statement that felt like a threat.

She had so many questions she wanted to ask concerning the extent of this spell of his, but perhaps that would have to be left for later as she had an exam to conclude.

All she said was, "You pass."

Ambrose’s feet touched down on the ground, and then he left right after.

Cassian had a smile on his face when he returned to his seat beside the guild captains and Thamoryn.

It continued until finally it was Aiden’s turn.

He walked into the halls, and everyone gave him full attention. He was a person of interest for Thamoryn, Katherine’s most intriguing guild member, and a mage every other guild master wished they had gotten their hands on.

Thamoryn asked him to go on with what he had to show.

Aiden wanted to actually just use his Flame Sword spell and be done with it, but the Grand Magus had mentioned that people would get rewarded with merit stars if they were to use impressive spells.

"To be honest, I never quite completed that spell," Aiden said to himself, remembering that he had to stop Exploding Sun abruptly after being interrupted by Morgan.

He looked up at the Grand Magus and captains and said, "With due respect, try not to get scared."

They were instantly all taken aback by that statement, as if they couldn’t believe that an Academy mage had just uttered that.

The instructor from behind who heard that nearly choked as well.

But before they could even react, Aiden raised his head and right palm upward, and a huge mass of flames near-instantly took shape.

The first time he formed the spell, it grew slowly, mostly because he was creating the spell for the first time. This time, however, was different.

Debris on the ground slowly started getting pulled into the sphere of flames.

They were all terror-stricken at the sight of what they saw, and they had all stood up from their seats as if their very existence were about to be threatened.

The table before them had also started moving slowly toward the gravitational pull caused by the dense sphere of fire.

However, before they could even think any further, they sweated profusely and their bodies began hitting levels of dehydration that forced the instructor at the entrance to leave the halls quickly.

Thamoryn immediately made light magic aura coat every captain and herself; a form of light magic protection.

"What the hell is this?" Cassian spoke out while simultaneously stretching his right hand out toward Aiden, about to cast a magic spell to put an end to this display.

Thamoryn crossed her staff before him and said, "Hold on. Let him."

Cassian looked back at Thamoryn as if she had gone mad.

Aiden’s flames had continued growing in size and then hit a stop, just a few inches away from the ceiling that had also started developing cracks due to the magic pressure and pull effect.

Aiden paid attention, making sure to climax the full strength at that point, and now he was certain it was truly complete.

Then an idea to make it even more impressive came to him at that very moment. He closed his eyes for a second and whispered, "Compress."

That enormous mass of flames immediately shrank down to a miniaturized ball while retaining just as much power.

"Did he just compress all that magic power?" Katherine spoke.

The Captains all watched with renewed waves of shock dawning on them.

Aiden tilted his head downward and lowered his right palm toward the captains and Grand Magus, who were all still standing away from their seats.

Aiden noticed they were all glowing with light and could see the terror in their eyes. Then he made his miniature sun disappear. "Well, I gave them fair warning," he muttered to himself.

Thamoryn stretched her hand toward their table, which had shifted some meters away from them.

An invisible force pulled the table back toward them, after which she took her seat. Slowly, other guild captains started sitting too while still looking half-dazed from all of that.

Two notification screens appeared before Aiden at that point as well:

[Technique copied → Light Magic Guard(A)]

[King level Supplementary Spell Copied: Force]

He had just copied both the light magic protection spell the Grand Magus used on herself and the captains, alongside the supplementary one she had used to pull their table back towards them.

With a smile on his face, he waited for his result to be called.
