Chapter 37 She Met Bai Yi and Li Tian

She wanted to tell Zhou Chumù that Li Tián was his best choice.

These words, she had spoken them before, but whenever she brought them up, Zhou Chumù would change the subject. Eventually, she gave up. Perhaps, sometimes, not saying certain things was the best course of action.

A month ago, Li Tián had approached her, begging her to let Zhou Chumù go. She could only face Li Tián's pleas, yet she could do nothing. Li Tián knew better than anyone that Ān Nuǎn had spoken, but it was Zhou Chumù who remained stubborn. What use was it for her to find Ān Nuǎn? Ān Nuǎn was innocent. She couldn't possibly resent Ān Nuǎn.

A year ago, Zhou Chumù had met Li Tián once. Later, after some unknown conversation between Zhou Chumù and Li Tián, Li Tián married Bái Yì. There was no affection between Li Tián and Bái Yì; they could be said to have a mutually beneficial arrangement.

"Nuǎnnuan, Li Tián is already married to Bái Yì, and they are living very happily. Nuǎnnuan, do you want me to destroy Li Tián's happy life?"

"Nuǎnnuan, it doesn't matter if you don't have me in your heart. As long as I can be by your side, that's enough."

Ān Nuǎn remained silent, for she knew that whatever she said would be futile. Besides, her life was nearing its end. Perhaps, once she disappeared from this world, Zhou Chumù would finally find his own happiness.

Therefore, at this moment, no matter what Zhou Chumù said, she did not reply, choosing silence.

At this moment, silence was the best decision.

As Ān Nuǎn was speaking with Zhou Chumù, her body began to tremble. Her face turned pale, and sweat beaded on her forehead. She bit her lip tightly, trying desperately to endure.

"Senior Zhou, I still have things to do. I..." she stammered.

Before Ān Nuǎn could finish speaking, she fainted.

The third day.

Ān Nuǎn woke up. When she opened her eyes, she saw walls as white as snow and the familiar scent of disinfectant.

Had she been admitted to the hospital again?

It seemed her life had a special connection with hospitals.

As Ān Nuǎn tried to speak, Zhou Chumù brought her water. After drinking, she noticed Zhou Chumù's gaze fixed upon her and guessed that he must know everything.

He probably had many questions to ask.

"Senior Zhou, if you have anything to say, please just say it," Ān Nuǎn said calmly.

She knew very well that there was no point in trying to hide anything. Such matters couldn't be concealed.

"Nuǎnnuan, you were injected with a solution, but the hospital couldn't detect its composition. They only know it causes severe damage to your body and has significant side effects, leaving you in constant torment."

When Xià Wǎnqíng injected her, she had done so directly. Her hand had swollen considerably, and the needle mark was easily visible.

Because Xià Wǎnqíng harbored a deep resentment towards Ān Nuǎn, she had been as brutal as possible when attacking Ān Nuǎn. Especially when she saw Ān Nuǎn's hand swell, a sinister smile spread across her face.

"Nuǎnnuan, what exactly happened? Why is there something in your body?" Zhou Chumù questioned with deep regret. He was even more eager to find the person who had harmed Ān Nuǎn. What kind of person could inflict such a cruel blow? It was a miracle Ān Nuǎn was still alive.

"Ān Nuǎn, tell me, was it Xǔ Ruòwēi or Xià Wǎnqíng?"

He knew these two had been making things difficult for Ān Nuǎn.

Xǔ Ruòwēi was involved because of Shěn Xīzhōu, and Xià Wǎnqíng because of Jì Wēnyǔn.

Zhou Chumù tightened his grip on Ān Nuǎn, his eyes burning with rage as he looked at her.

But Ān Nuǎn bit her lip tightly, remaining silent.

Zhou Chumù knew Ān Nuǎn; she wouldn't speak. Therefore, he would find the truth himself.

Without another word, Zhou Chumù left. He had to find the person who had hurt Ān Nuǎn.

Ān Nuǎn had never seen Zhou Chumù so enraged before. She was truly frightened. However, she quickly got out of bed, but in her haste, she fell to the ground.

Zhou Chumù, who had already stormed out, heard the commotion behind him and immediately turned back.

"Senior, senior, I'm fine. The doctor just exaggerated a bit." She was genuinely worried that Zhou Chumù would confront these two people directly, but she didn't want him to get involved. She quickly said, "Senior, I can handle my own affairs."

"I can resolve this on my own. If I can't, I will definitely ask for your help." Ān Nuǎn said firmly, "Senior, can I beg you?"

"For the sake of the person who hurt you, Nuǎnnuan, you're asking me to beg?" Zhou Chumù's eyes were filled with disbelief. But looking at the meek Ān Nuǎn kneeling before him, he suddenly doubted himself. Perhaps his actions were not what Ān Nuǎn wanted.

In the end, Zhou Chumù relented.

He couldn't bear to see Ān Nuǎn so humbled.

Zhou Chumù was about to say something, but his phone kept ringing; it was his family calling.

"Senior, you should go. They must be calling because of something urgent."

Ān Nuǎn knew that Zhou Chumù would no longer insist on this matter.

She understood even better that Zhou Chumù was doing this to spare her any difficulty.

Zhou Chumù left.

The needle in Ān Nuǎn's hand had fallen out during her struggle earlier. When a nurse came to reinsert an IV catheter, Ān Nuǎn shook her head. "No need, I'm discharging myself."

The nurse looked troubled. "Miss, your body has not recovered, you cannot be discharged. I..."

Ān Nuǎn managed a weak smile. "I don't have money."

The nurse was speechless.

She was startled by Ān Nuǎn's blunt confession.

Ān Nuǎn walked away directly.

Upon returning to her lodging.

Ān Nuǎn took a deep breath, telling herself inwardly that Zhou Chumù would not go looking for trouble with Xǔ Ruòwēi and Xià Wǎnqíng.

He had promised her.

After resting, she planned to go out and find Shěn Xīzhōu. She had called him, but he hadn't answered. Perhaps he knew it was her and was deliberately ignoring her calls.

However, before she could meet Shěn Xīzhōu, she encountered Lǐ Tián on the way. She had intended to avoid her, but she saw Lǐ Tián with her head down, frantically pulling at her hair, seemingly in great distress.

She walked over and saw Bái Yì, who greeted her.

A sense of unease stirred in Ān Nuǎn's heart.

Could this be Lǐ Tián's husband?

She had used Bái Yì before; did Lǐ Tián know?

She truly had no idea that the person before her was Bái Yì, nor could she have imagined he was Lǐ Tián's husband.

"Bái Yì, listen to me. Please stop sending me things. You've already sent enough. I told you, we're just using each other."
