Chapter 183: Chapter 120: Next Door
Two cars entered the underground parking lot of Dynasty, one after the other. Seeing the mostly empty parking spots, Luo Ye felt privately relieved—driving now is such a breeze.
Ye Xuan’s driving skills didn’t surprise Luo Ye, but seeing Qi Bin park as smoothly as Ye Xuan did, Luo Ye couldn’t help but click his tongue: "Pretty impressive skills!"
Ye Xuan laughed: "With such an empty place, if he took half a day just to park, where would his face be?"
"You think I don’t understand? Even if there were cars on both sides, the way you both just neatly swung into the spots, there’s no way you’d scratch anyone else!"
"Not bad, not many girls study this kind of stuff, at most they just watch the excitement," complimented Ye Xuan.
Luo Ye’s eyes darted around: "You’re pretty insightful about girls, huh? Yeah, definitely the quietly seething type. You look like you’re not into mingling, but actually... hmm!"
"Hmm what? What’s your little brain always fantasizing about?" Ye Xuan said with a wry smile as he patted Luo Ye’s head, wondering why she always had to poke at him.
"Touching my head again!" Luo Ye pouted discontentedly: "Get out of the car, your friend has been watching us like a monkey show!"
"Are you the monkey?" Ye Xuan’s eyes brimmed with amusement, clearly, it was intentional. Qi Bin, clever and meticulous, was surely analyzing his relationship with Luo Ye.
"You’re the monkey!" Normally used to messing around with her brother, she instinctively raised her hand to hit Ye Xuan, but mid-way she sheepishly pulled back, finding an excuse for herself: "Hitting you just hurts me, my hand would sting!"
Qi Bin was increasingly puzzled, he had never seen Ye Xuan so indulgent with any girl. But looking at their expressions, they didn’t seem like a couple heatedly in love, yet to say they were just normal friends didn’t quite fit either...
After Ye Xuan and Luo Ye got out of the car, Qi Bin hurriedly opened his door and, with a flattering smile, said: "Ye Xuan, to apologize, let me treat you and your sister-in-law to dinner, okay?"
"Okay!"
"My name is Luo Ye!" Luo Ye blushed up to her ears.
"I know, I know, but aren’t you Ye Xuan’s soon-to-be fiancée? That makes you my soon-to-be sister-in-law, right? Might as well get used to calling you that." Qi Bin said as he gauged both of their reactions.
"Ye’er really is my soon-to-be fiancée, there’s no need for probing anymore." Ye Xuan put his arm around Luo Ye’s shoulder: "Ye’er, he is a year older than me, this is a gain for us, see?"
"Oh." Mou Ye responded nonchalantly, she was busy trying to calm herself down—damn, she really needed to toughen up her skin.
Qi Bin gave a wry laugh and scratched his head: "Luo Ye, Ye Xuan is too cunning. Growing up with him as best buddies is one thing, but before you know it, you get schemed into his plans, you need to be more cautious!"
"Am I the one scheming? It was you who eagerly bet, and when you lost, you lost. If you want to back out, just say it straight, why beat around the bush?"
Ye Xuan had already booked the room, selecting Yongzheng Hall again. Just as Qi Bin was about to order, Ye Xuan softly tapped on the table: "Qianqian is still around here, right?"
"She is, but I called her earlier, and she said she wanted to go to Pizza Hut for pizza." Qi Bin quickly blocked any further pursuit, planning to call his sister over—it looked like he wasn’t getting any sleep tonight; that girl was probably going to be a handful.
"Then never mind." Ye Xuan nodded, indicating that Qi Bin could order now. Qi Bin sighed in relief and silently prayed his sister really went out for pizza.
After the waiter left, Ye Xuan glanced at Qi Bin: "How’s it going? Haven’t been bullied, have you?"
"Do I look like someone who gets bullied?" Qi Bin shot a dissatisfied glance at the other person: "Although the local scene is a bit more complicated than the military, you don’t have to look down on me, right?"
Ye Xuan nodded slightly: "That’s good, I asked because I was considering your father’s expectations for you. I’ll still be around for two more days, so if there’s anything you need help with, just tell me quickly. Time waits for no one."
"I know, why would I stand on ceremony with you? But I wouldn’t dare to disturb you unnecessarily, your time is probably reserved for Luo Ye, right?" Qi Bin studied the two of them: "Ye Xuan, you really surprise me. If I told Wen Yi, Yu Hang, and Li Bao about your behavior now, they definitely wouldn’t believe it."
Luo Ye’s mouth twitched, the plague? What a name... Tsk tsk.
"But why do I feel like you are trying too hard?" After a moment, Qi Bin added another line.
"Cough cough cough..." Luo Ye started to cough violently and glared at Qi Bin while coughing, damn it, why does every meeting with him have to include choking?
Ye Xuan gently patted Luo Ye’s back, frowning as he looked at Qi Bin: "Why do I feel like you’re becoming more and more like a nagging mom?"
"My bad, I was wrong." Qi Bin also looked a bit embarrassed.
The dishes were served one by one, and a brief silence fell among the group.
...
In the neighboring Kangxi Hall, Fu Mo and his mother Ye Huafang, Fan Zhe, Fan Rui, and the birthday star Fan Jiaxiang had also just arrived. Seeing that his girlfriend hadn’t arrived yet, Fan Zhe went out to make a phone call.
Fan Jiaxiang, in his twenties, worked at Fu Group, and retired at sixty. During the tumultuous times, most of the Fu Family’s business was relocated abroad, with domestic operations either moved underground or suspended temporarily, leading to many employees leaving. However, Fan Jiaxiang kept persevering and was therefore later relied upon heavily, becoming a key figure in the Fu Group.
After the incident with Fu Mo’s father, Fu Minghui, Fan Jiaxiang had steadfastly stood by Fu Mo and his mother, providing significant help to both, making him the most trustworthy person in Fu Mo’s eyes besides his own parents.
Fu Mo’s mother, Ye Huafang, 45 years old, possessing the Ye Family’s fine lineage, was a beautiful woman not inferior to Wen Xin. Since her husband’s incident, she had devoted her heart solely to her husband, hence she was immensely grateful for Fan Jiaxiang’s assistance.
After Fan Zhe came back in, he apologized to everyone: "Tang Tang will be here soon, she went to pick up her niece and they’ve already reached the parking lot."
Fan Jiaxiang sighed lightly: "How great would it be if the child’s mother was still here? She left us too early. If she could have witnessed Zhe Zhe establishing a family and career, how happy she would have been?"
Ye Huafang quickly consoled him: "Brother Fan, don’t be sad, your sister-in-law would be especially happy seeing the children doing so well."
"Alas, I’m not worried about Zhe Zhe’s affairs, now I just worry about Rui Rui. If a girl marries the wrong man, she will suffer her entire life."
Fan Rui curled her lips: "Dad, you should worry more about my brother. His girlfriend has quite a temperament; you’ll be the one suffering when they get married!"
Fan Jiaxiang glared at his daughter unhappily: "You girl, you’re just jealous because she’s more capable than you, right?"
"Brother Fan, Rui Rui is doing very well, being self-reliant at such a young age. You should be proud of her," Ye Huafang said with a smile, trying to smooth things over.
"What self-reliance? It’s nothing serious!" Fan Jiaxiang massaged his head in pain, his daughter had become an advertising star at a young age, which might be good for an ordinary family, but it was the last thing he wanted to see.
Secretly, he had always hoped his daughter would end up with Fu Mo, but entering the entertainment industry would render his position in the Fu Mother and Son’s esteem useless, worrying him to no end.
