In the following days, Luo Ye’s life completely revolved around Qian Mei. In the morning, she would finish breakfast at the hospital and rush to school for examinations, and in the evening, she would head straight back to the hospital after school.

Luo Ye pouted: "Lost lambs in the dark should seek a wolf for guidance, not the Evening Star."
"Bad Luoluo, are you sending us to our doom?" Xing Nong clung tightly to Luo Ye’s arm, refusing to let go. "You’re not getting away today. If it weren’t for Mr. Yu’s demand to check in with our class after the exam, would you have slipped away again?"
"I’ve been busy with something these past few days, haven’t I?" Luo Ye yawned, "Spare me, I’m really too sleepy, I need to go home and sleep. I have to accompany someone at the hospital tonight!"
"Accompany someone? Who’s sick?" The two asked almost simultaneously, their concern clearly genuine.
"It’s one of my sisters who fell ill. She went through a major surgery, and these past few days, I’ve been busy with her. You all jump to wild guesses, huh. Imagine something else, shame on you! Go reflect by yourselves!"
Upon hearing this, Tang Luo was unhappy, "Luoluo, and you’re telling us to reflect by ourselves? Aren’t you the one to blame? You don’t consider us friends at all. You should have told us earlier about your sister’s surgery; we should at least go visit her, right?"
"It’s been exams these days, hasn’t it? Neglecting me is no big deal, but it would be bad if you all were delayed. What if Mr. Yu skinned me alive? How about this, I’ll invite you all to visit her with me tomorrow, okay?"
Xing Nong smugly tapped his head, "That’s more like it. Which hospital is your sister in? Oh right, how is she related to you?"
"Mary Hospital. She’s a distant cousin of mine. Her family is no longer around, so our family has been taking care of her. She has always faced work difficulties, which is why she might come off a bit cold. If she seems unresponsive when you visit, don’t take it to heart."
Luo Ye did not intend to share Qian Mei’s plights with anyone. Her background and experiences were indeed tragic, but not everyone might understand her extreme measures of revenge.
Tang Luo and the others, no matter how clever and sensible they were, simply lacked the experience. Luo Ye did not want to expose them to such dark matters, nor did she want Qian Mei to be provoked by their sympathetic looks.
