Chapter 230: Chapter 230: Wrong Love Can Only Be Wrong Love (2)
"I’m sorry. Please forgive me."
"Forget it."
Raina North was well aware that even with Aaron Warren lowering his head in front of her, he was never truly willing.
However, Raina didn’t care; a little Aaron Warren wasn’t worth her attention. If he didn’t insist on clinging to her like a toad, she wouldn’t even spare him a glance.
Elias Hawthorne felt somewhat dissatisfaction seeing Raina let Aaron get off so easily, but he said nothing.
Second Uncle Warren let out a sigh of relief and spoke a long string of flattering words.
Claire North didn’t expect Elias would be so protective of Raina, she gritted her teeth in anger, yet kept a pitiable look: "It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t hastily spoken for my idol, things wouldn’t have turned out like this."
"Claire, this isn’t your fault!" Aaron Warren said, struggling to hold back.
Second Uncle Warren’s expression turned darker, fearing he might displeasure Raina and cause further trouble.
Raina paid no mind, leisurely stood up from her chair, and looked at Claire across from her: "You say Ghost Doctor Nowhere is your idol?"
"Yes." Claire puffed her chest out: "I greatly admire Nowhere as a fellow woman. If I ever get the chance to meet her, I’d certainly ask her to be my mentor, even if it means kneeling and pleading."
Raina responded meaningfully: "Really? Aren’t you afraid your teacher would be upset hearing that?"
Claire looked serious: "My teacher is someone with a generous heart. If I could apprentice under Nowhere, he would only be happy for me."
Raina paused and said: "I hope you remember what you said today." She stopped looking at Claire: "If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave."
"Wait." Elias called after Raina: "When will Apothecary North start at The Hawthorne Group? What kind of research lab do you require? And regarding the appointment earlier, though you refused, that position will remain open for you. As long as you wish, at any time, you’re The Hawthorne Group’s Chief Pharmacist."
Raina squinted her eyes.
She understood Elias’s intent; he was backing her.
She appreciated Elias, yet felt no need for it.
Indeed, she could guess Elias’s intentions—just interested in her.
She thanked Elias for his misplaced affection, but misplaced affection only stays misplaced.
Since it’s wrong, it cannot continue.
As for her marriage with Elias, she never took it to heart.
"Thank you, President Hawthorne, for your kindness, but please find someone more suitable."
Elias curled his lips into a slight smile: "I’ve said that Apothecary North can refuse, but my decision will not be retracted. Of course, I hope that The Hawthorne Group is the first company Apothecary North considers for employment."
After a pause, Elias added: "I believe The Hawthorne Group will be the only company. Anyone who dares contend with me for Apothecary North will face my unyielding pursuit."
Raina laughed, feeling both amused and irritated.
For the first time, she discovered Elias was no ordinary scoundrel, resorting to such shameless tactics.
"We’ll discuss these minor matters later." Crowe was impatient with the conversation; he eagerly looked at Raina: "Apothecary North, do you have any other medicinal pills? I’d like to take one back for thorough research."
Though the pill wouldn’t reveal Raina’s formula, the composition of herbs would still be greatly beneficial to him.
Raina shrugged: "No more, just this one."
