Chapter 753: The Truth Revisited

Seventh Chapter 753: Truth Revealed

A group of people tiptoed into the building and climbed to the second floor.

The hallway was still filled with the smell of burnt wood, and scattered books and papers were everywhere, likely left behind by the students in their hurried evacuation.

Following the scent of burnt charcoal, the group quickly found the location of the incident—a classroom near the end of the hallway.

Upon entering the room, Lily noticed that one corner was completely black, the wall was cracked, and the cracks extended to the floor. The fire area was not large, and the changes in the fire's intensity were very clear. The charred wood went from dark to light, spreading out in circles like ripples, which didn't look like a natural fire at all.

However, what caught her attention the most were the cracks.

They looked almost as if they had been split open with an axe, the openings completely carbonized, and she could still feel a faint residual heat when she put her finger in them.

"This should be the place," Miyue said, circling the corner of the wall. "Asha, it's up to you now."

"Okay... if anyone comes, remember to interrupt me," Asha walked to the center of the classroom and unleashed her ability to rewind time.

Since the time of the bàozhà was certain and no more than a day had passed, she quickly found the key moment before the incident occurred. As magic flowed out, the damaged wall became as good as new, and the crooked chairs were neatly arranged. There were many students in the empty classroom, some sleeping on their desks, others chatting, and there was no teacher at the podium, it must be lunchtime.

Maggie and Vanilla couldn't help but exclaim in surprise at this sight, but then quickly covered their mouths as if afraid of disturbing Asha. Especially when they saw a "student" walking towards them nonchalantly, but passing through their bodies like a ghost, they retreated a few steps in panic and almost fell to the ground.

"Don't worry, these are just illusions," Evelyn explained warmly. "Asha can rewind time, allowing things that have already happened to reappear."

"This... what an amazing ability!" Amy, who was also seeing this for the first time, showed no fear, but said with admiration.

"Haha... it's not that amazing," Asha said, scratching her head a little shyly. "Compared to Nightingale, my ability is nothing."

"Nightingale? Are you talking about that blonde woman who is often with His Majesty and rarely shows her face?"

"Yes, she is the most powerful witch in the entire Western Territory, maybe even in the entire kingdom!"

"A-Amazing!" Amy's eyes sparkled.

"Wait," Miyue suddenly interrupted them. "Look!"

Lily frowned. "This is..."

"Bullying?" Evelyn whispered.

Five or six children around the age of ten were surrounding two girls in the corner, arguing fiercely. The two girls being surrounded reacted very differently. One stretched out her hands to block the crowd, loudly scolding them without backing down, while the other hugged her head and cowered behind the former, looking very frightened.

Since the elementary classes didn't have a unified enrollment age, the oldest of the group looked to be fifteen or sixteen, much taller than the two girls combined, presenting an overwhelming advantage in momentum. But the short-haired girl, who didn't give an inch, wasn't intimidated by the size of the crowd, and her aura didn't fall behind even though she was alone.

From the shape of their mouths, it could be inferred that the content of the dispute was related to their place of origin... such as go back to the Eastern Territory, lackeys of the rebel king, and the like.

Soon the dispute turned into a push. The tall one took the lead, trying to pin the blocker to the ground, but unexpectedly, just as his hands grabbed her shoulders, he was kicked in the knee and stumbled.

The scene became chaotic for a moment.

The girl was like a slippery loach, wriggling out of the encirclement, and then kicked a fat kid to the ground, drawing everyone's attention to herself.

No one paid attention to the poor girl sobbing with her head in her hands anymore. The attackers swarmed towards the short-haired girl, who roamed in the back half of the classroom, using other students as cover, her movements as agile as a cat. Because she didn't have the advantage of height, she kicked her opponents near their knees or ankles every time, knocking them to the ground with one blow, making it difficult for them to stand up for a while.

"This kid is so strong!" Miyue clicked her tongue.

"Come on, beat them!" Amy couldn't help but clench her fists, as if she was there.

"But... she's too weak," Vanilla said worriedly. "And if she only attacks one part, it's easy for her opponents to target and defend against, and a prolonged fight will be disadvantageous for her."

"Oh, how do you know that?" Miyue looked at her in surprise.

"S-Sorry, I just used to..."

"The church taught you these things, right?" Evelyn comforted. "It's okay, since you can pass His Majesty's review, it means you are not the same kind of person as those vicious purists."

Lily frowned and didn't say a word. She also agreed with Vanilla's opinion. Although the students who were kicked down looked very embarrassed, they could still limp back up and continue to besiege the short-haired girl after recovering. And this time they were much more careful in protecting their legs, and it wasn't so easy for her to succeed.

Suddenly, the tall one grabbed a chair and swung it down from behind while her attention was diverted by the other two.

"Careful!" Amy shouted.

But the illusion only recorded what had already happened, and her reminder couldn't make the girl aware of the sneak attack from behind.

The chair leg hit her head, knocking her to the ground. The moment she fell, she rolled over and escaped from the pincer attack of the two in front, covering her head and squatting on the ground, gritting her teeth.

It could be seen that the girl's fingertips were stained with blood.

Fresh blood slowly flowed down from her hairline, staining half of her face red.

The tall one also looked a little falèng, probably not expecting the other party to take such a solid blow. He hesitated for a moment before throwing the chair on the ground and walking towards her step by step.

Just when everyone thought the situation was set, the girl suddenly showed a painful expression and shouted loudly—although the witches present couldn't hear the sound, they could tell from her expression how much pain she was enduring at this moment. Even when she was hit on the head by the chair, she hadn't changed color so much.

Then a flash of lightning leaped from her fingertips, soon followed by a second and a third... The lightning spread along the floor, leaving behind a distorted orange-red trajectory. When it touched the window, it suddenly burst into a bright flash!

In an instant, sparks flew everywhere, like metal striking stone, the glass shattered in response, and a large hole was blasted in the wall. Everyone turned around and fled in panic, no longer caring about the short-haired girl shrouded in lightning.
