Chapter 795 A Kind Heart
Anna nestled close to him, listening to the entire experience of the God's Punishment Witches unexpectedly entering the dream world.
"So they can all regain their lost sensations and return to normal life?" She breathed a sigh of relief, her tone filled mostly with heartfelt joy, and a little melancholy and regret, "That's wonderful... If only I could also see the world you once stayed in."
"Only by turning your soul into a pillar of light can you achieve that, the cost is too great for you," Roland stroked her hair and earlobes, "Besides, we can build Neverwinter into the ideal place, making reality no less appealing than dreams, right?"
"That's true," Anna chuckled, "But are you feeling a little guilty now?"
"Eh?" Roland was taken aback, "Not at all, I'm just..."
"No need to answer, let me listen," the girl placed her head on his chest, and after a long while, she whispered, "Hmm... Two parts guilt, and one part worry; guilty because Phyllis is a woman, and very beautiful, worried because you're afraid I'll overthink things, am I right?"
"Uh..." Faced with this answer that couldn't be more correct, Roland didn't know what to say.
Anna burst out laughing, "But there are still seven parts honesty, so your worries are unfounded, rest assured." She paused, her tone becoming serious, "Roland, you made this decision to help them, just like saving me and the Cooperative, how could I possibly mind such a trivial matter. This is precisely the duty of a king, isn't it?"
Roland breathed a slight sigh of relief.
If it were Nightingale, he wouldn't have dared to guarantee that she wouldn't overthink things, but Anna was different, her belief was genuine and without pretense. Moreover, from her expression, it could be seen that she wholeheartedly supported giving the Taquila witches a home and allowing them to regain their lost senses.
Anna's kindness was innate, and that hadn't changed since the day he met her.
"But you have to tell me everything you do in the dream afterwards, understand?" She blinked her lake-blue eyes and murmured in his ear.
Roland nodded, "I promise."
Anna gave a satisfied smile, slowly climbed onto him, and cupped his cheeks in her hands, "Then the next time is all mine."
The girl gently bit his collar, all the way down...
The sweet sounds of their panting gradually filled the bedroom.
...
On the other side, after the astonishing news brought back by Phyllis spread, the Third Border City was in an uproar.
"As long as you lose consciousness within the light pillar, you can regain your original appearance?"
"That's not important at all, the key is being able to restore touch and smell!"
"Is KFC really that delicious... How about honey-glazed barbecue?"
"C-can you take me to see the dream world?"
"Me too!"
"I want to go too..."
The crowd surrounded Phyllis, chattering and clamoring, completely losing their usual composure. Even when facing the massive invasion of magic beasts into the underground labyrinth, they hadn't been this excited.
"Stop arguing, if so many people go to the castle together, others will think we're going to seize Neverwinter!" Er'xia shouted loudly, while extending a tentacle to place on Pasha's body, "What do you think, is this a trap set by the mortal king?"
"Even if it's a trap, they're probably willing to step into it," Pasha forced a wry smile. Until now, she hadn't recovered from the story Phyllis told. A highly developed dream world, a place where souls can be reborn, the allure for the survivors of Taquila was almost immeasurable. And the method they had been desperately searching for to fight the demons was actually found in the mortal king. When centuries of suffering ushered in the dawn overnight, this unreal feeling gave her a rare sense of dizziness.
She hadn't dreamed in a long time.
Subconsciously, Pasha hoped it was all true, but she couldn't completely believe that such a good thing could happen. A mortal without magic becoming the savior of the Taquila witches? No wonder Er'xia was full of vigilance and suspicion.
Fortunately, she was still clear that regardless of whether what Phyllis said was true or not, someone had to be sent to verify it before a conclusion could be drawn.
It wasn't that she didn't believe Phyllis, after the split and escape, everyone who survived was like siblings.
She was just worried that the other party had been deceived.
After all, such a dream that sounded like a fantasy, no matter how carefully it was examined, was not excessive.
Thinking of this, Pasha transmitted her consciousness to everyone's minds, "Is His Majesty Roland really willing to let others enter the dream world as well?"
"That's what he said, but not now." Phyllis explained, "That world has rules that must be followed, just like the real world, so in order to avoid exposure and cause unnecessary changes, only those who meet the requirements will be allowed to enter in the first batch. They will take on the task of pioneers, laying the foundation for accommodating more people into the dream in the future."
Pasha was slightly relieved. If it was a trap, it would naturally be better to let more people step into it, rather than giving the pioneers a chance to discover the flaws and issue a warning.
"What kind of requirements?"
"This..." Phyllis hesitated for a moment, "He needs witches who are quick in action, possess infiltration, control, and powerful offensive capabilities."
"In other words, he needs combat witches?" Er'xia questioned, "But didn't you say that the power possessed by that world is far beyond that of the demons? The requirements he's proposing seem a bit contradictory, don't they?"
"He doesn't want us to fight the whole world, just..."
"Just what?"
"Uh... to do some looting in private," Phyllis said a little embarrassed, "Of course, the targets are all unforgivable people."
There was a brief silence on the scene.
"Wait, is he treating us like rogue thugs? We are dignified —" Er'xia hadn't finished speaking when her voice was drowned out by the crowd's burst of noise.
"Sounds interesting!"
"Those guys don't have God's Punishment Stones, right? Who can withstand my rapid-fire fireballs!"
"You're making too much noise, His Majesty obviously needs quiet, my Shadow Flying Daggers are pretty good."
"Only shoots ten steps, don't talk about powerful offensive capabilities."
"I can conceal the whereabouts of my teammates, let me go!"
Pasha patted Er'xia on the back consolingly, "Don't mind it, everyone's just been bored for too long."
