Chapter 1670: Chapter 822: Ruins Within the Secret Realm?
Luo Chen nodded and looked around, discovering a dense forest not far away which might serve as their temporary refuge.
The two quickly changed direction and ran towards the forest.
Just as they hid in the forest, they heard a loud roar behind them, followed by the exclamations of the Cultivators and the angry roars of the Spiritual Beasts.
Clearly, the battle had already begun.
"Let’s wait here for a while and see how the situation develops," Luo Chen whispered, as he and Qing Shuang found a hidden spot to conceal themselves in the dense bushes.
As time passed, the sounds of battle in the valley gradually subsided.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang exchanged a glance, and each saw a hint of worry in the other’s eyes.
"We need to go back and take a look," Luo Chen said, as he was the first to leave their hiding place and cautiously moved towards the valley.
When they returned to the edge of the valley, they found that the battle had already ended.
The Spiritual Beasts had vanished without a trace, and the Cultivators were lying haphazardly on the ground, clearly having lost their combat abilities.
"It seems the Spiritual Beasts won," Qing Shuang said softly, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes.
Luo Chen nodded, and he walked over to a Cultivator who had fallen to the ground to check his condition.
Although the Cultivator was still alive, he had already lost consciousness.
"Kill them!"
Luo Chen said coldly.
The Cultivation Realm is like this.
The strong prey on the weak; only the fittest survive.
Kinds-hearted people have no place for long survival in the Cultivation Realm.
Luo Chen’s fingers lightly touched the pulse of the Cultivator, confirming that he no longer had the strength to resist.
He stood up, his eyes coldly sweeping across the battle-ravaged valley.
Qing Shuang stood beside him, her brow furrowed, seemingly struggling with something in her heart.
She knew the cruel Law of the Cultivation Realm, but personally ending the life of someone who had lost consciousness weighed heavily on her Spirit.
"Luo Chen, do we really have to do this?" Qing Shuang’s voice carried a faint tremble.
Luo Chen turned his head, his gaze landing on Qing Shuang’s face, and he could feel her hesitation and unease.
He took a deep breath and then said slowly, "Qing Shuang, I know this is difficult for you, but you must understand, in the Cultivation Realm, we cannot afford any mercy; letting them live today means they might become our enemies tomorrow."
Qing Shuang was silent for a moment and eventually nodded, acknowledging that Luo Chen was speaking the truth.
She tightly gripped the Ice Sword in her hand, preparing to execute this final action.
However, just as Luo Chen and Qing Shuang were about to act, a weak voice came from beneath their feet: "Don’t... don’t kill me... I... I have information..."
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang both looked down, discovering that the voice came from a Cultivator lying on the ground.
His eyes were filled with fear and pleading; apparently, he didn’t want to die in this unfamiliar valley.
Luo Chen crouched down, scrutinizing this Cultivator, feeling that his Spiritual Power was so weak it could almost be ignored.
He asked coldly, "What information?"
The Cultivator gasped, struggling to speak: "I... I heard... heard that... in... in the depths of the Secret Realm... there is an... ancient... relic... inside... holds... endless... Treasure..."
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang exchanged a glance, knowing that this information might be very important. Luo Chen continued to ask, "Are you sure?"
The Cultivator nodded, his voice growing weaker: "I... I swear... I... wouldn’t... lie to you..."
Luo Chen stood up, looking at Qing Shuang, a flicker of thought passing through both their gazes.
If this information was true, then perhaps they could forsake the current slaughter and search for that legendary relic.
"Let’s go," Luo Chen finally decided.
Qing Shuang sheathed the Ice Sword, knowing Luo Chen’s decision was the right one.
They quickly left the valley, heading towards the depths of the Secret Realm.
On their ensuing journey, Luo Chen and Qing Shuang became more cautious.
They understood that as they ventured deeper into the Secret Realm, the dangers they would encounter would increase.
They passed through the dense forest, over hills, finally arriving at an ancient relic shrouded in mist.
The entrance to the relic was covered with complex runes and restrictions, clearly not something that could be easily entered.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang stood before the relic, knowing this might be a crucial turning point on their path of Cultivation.
They must handle it carefully, with no room for negligence.
Luo Chen took out an ancient map from his bosom, which they had found earlier in the Secret Realm, marked with potential danger zones and hidden treasures.
He studied the map carefully, trying to find the best path to enter the relic.
Qing Shuang stood guard beside him, understanding that there might be Guardians at the relic’s entrance, so they must be ready for battle at any time.
After a period of research, Luo Chen finally found a seemingly safe path.
He signaled Qing Shuang to follow, and the two cautiously entered the relic.
The inside of the relic was filled with a mysterious atmosphere, with ancient runes etched on the walls, as if narrating an ancient story.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang walked slowly along the passage, their hearts filled with both anticipation and vigilance.
Just as they were delving deeper into the relic, a heavy footsteps echoed from the other end of the passage.
The two immediately halted their steps, holding their breath, prepared to face any possible enemies.
The footsteps drew closer, and a huge figure appeared in their sight.
It was a giant puppet made of special wood.
The puppet had a strange appearance, wielding a massive Wooden Sword.
In front of it was an enormous shield.
Looking at it all over, it seemed almost invulnerable.
Luo Chen and Qing Shuang exchanged a glance, knowing this puppet was no easy foe.
Luo Chen gripped the Blood Slaughter Blade tightly, while Qing Shuang prepared her Ice Element spells, ready to respond at any moment.
"Be careful, this puppet’s strength and defense are formidable," Luo Chen whispered cautiously.
Qing Shuang nodded, a hint of determination in her eyes: "I will do my best to use spells to restrict its movement."
Luo Chen took a deep breath and then stepped forward, Blood Slaughter Blade in hand, ready to draw the puppet’s attention.
Under Luo Chen’s cover, Qing Shuang began to cast spells.
With the sound of Qing Shuang’s incantations, the surrounding air seemed to solidify, and a thin layer of frost began to spread around the puppet.
The puppet’s movements visibly slowed, but its strength didn’t seem to diminish.
"Luo Chen, hurry!" Qing Shuang shouted.
Without a moment’s hesitation, Luo Chen’s figure blurred, shooting towards the puppet like a streak of lightning.
The Blood Slaughter Blade sliced a scarlet arc through the air, aiming directly at the puppet’s vital point.
Yet, the puppet’s reaction was surprisingly quick; it raised its shield, blocking Luo Chen’s attack.
With a whistling sound, the huge Wooden Sword was swung, heading straight for Luo Chen.
Luo Chen swiftly retreated, avoiding the Wooden Sword’s attack range.
Utilizing agile movement technique, he circled around the puppet, looking for an opportunity to strike.
Qing Shuang continued to cast spells, knowing she needed to quickly weaken the puppet’s defense; otherwise, Luo Chen would be in great danger.
"Thousand Miles of Ice!" Qing Shuang whispered, as her Mana condensed in the air, forming countless Ice Cones pouring down towards the puppet like torrential rain.
Although the puppet’s shield was sturdy, facing such a concentrated assault, it was hard to defend completely.
The Ice Cones struck various parts of the puppet, causing its movements to become even slower.
Seeing this, Luo Chen knew it was the opportune moment.
He charged forward once more, skillfully wielding the Blood Slaughter Blade like a dragon of blood, thrusting towards the puppet’s chest.
This time, the puppet’s shield couldn’t entirely block Luo Chen’s attack.
The Blood Slaughter Blade penetrated the shield’s defense and plunged into the puppet’s chest.
However, to Luo Chen’s surprise, the puppet did not stop moving because of it.
It seemed to have no sense of pain nor life, mechanically executing its mission.
