Chapter 155 The Guidance

Su Xi, led by Ouyang Chu Ge, began to evade pursuers in the high-security area. Initially, Su Xi harbored some doubts about Ouyang Chu Ge's words, suspecting he was exaggerating to get her to bring him along. However, after several close calls, she started to believe him. Given Ouyang Chu Ge's familiarity with the area, Su Xi wouldn't have doubted him even if he had designed or built it himself.

Several times, they narrowly avoided patrolling soldiers, and Su Xi was prepared for a tough fight. Yet, Ouyang Chu Ge consistently found hidden passages, evading danger repeatedly. While one or two close calls might be attributed to luck, such consistent success was no mere coincidence.

After evading danger once more, Su Xi couldn't help but stop and ask, "What is your identity? If you don't tell me, I won't take you with me anymore." Her reasoning was that anyone so knowledgeable about this place couldn't possibly be an ordinary demon. The only logical explanation was that Ouyang Chu Ge had a significant identity, making him a target of attention.

Hearing Su Xi's question, Ouyang Chu Ge showed no signs of nervousness. Instead, a hint of disdain flickered across his face. "Are you only asking this question now? Isn't it a bit too late?" He had already revealed so much to Su Xi; it wasn't his style to act without preparation. He always acted after careful consideration.

Seeing Ouyang Chu Ge's calm smile, Su Xi couldn't help but frown, unsure of the meaning behind his words. She had been so cautious throughout their journey, constantly wary of him making a move against her. She couldn't fathom what else he could do.

Ouyang Chu Ge didn't hide his intentions. He stated directly, "You've traveled with me through so many places, and you've already absorbed my scent. My scent is quite distinctive, and you'll never be able to wash it off. You'll carry my mark forever." He knew his importance and that people would relentlessly search for him. Therefore, to ensure Su Xi's full cooperation, he had to make her an accomplice. Only then would Su Xi not abandon him halfway. If he were in danger, Su Xi wouldn't be able to survive either.

Su Xi heard Ouyang Chu Ge's words and couldn't help but sniff herself. She detected no smell, making her highly suspicious that he was trying to trick her. Seeing Su Xi's actions, Ouyang Chu Ge frowned. How had this person cultivated? Did she lack such basic knowledge? Didn't she know that higher-ranking demons could implant marks on lower-ranking ones? Furthermore, such marks were etched into the soul, not physically on the body. How could she smell it?

He initially thought Su Xi was feigning ignorance to deceive him, but her inexplicable behavior now convinced him she wasn't acting; she likely genuinely didn't understand. With a sigh, Ouyang Chu Ge looked at Su Xi and said helplessly, "Look at your arm, and you'll understand."

"My arm?" Su Xi immediately looked at her arm and discovered an unknown crown pattern glowing faintly. She hadn't noticed it before because her attention was focused on the scent. Seeing the crown pattern on her arm, Su Xi's confusion deepened. She looked at Ouyang Chu Ge and asked, "When did you put it there?" At this moment, Su Xi was merely curious about Ouyang Chu Ge's methods, not particularly worried. She wasn't a demon, so the methods of demons wouldn't hold much significance for her.

Ouyang Chu Ge found Su Xi's reaction to be both amusing and exasperating. Did she truly not know what this crown represented? And she was asking how he did it? Was that the important point? For the first time, Ouyang Chu Ge felt his intelligence was insufficient, his thoughts unable to keep up with the unconventional Su Xi.

"Don't worry about how I did it. If we don't leave together now, you won't survive," Ouyang Chu Ge decided to be direct, not wanting to elaborate further. Su Xi didn't dwell on the matter upon hearing Ouyang Chu Ge's request. Bringing someone along would be troublesome, but not impossible. Moreover, in their current situation, having someone familiar with the area was a significant advantage.

Looking at the labyrinthine passages before her, Su Xi asked, "Do you know where the most suitable place to detain prisoners is in this area?" Su Xi still had use for Ouyang Chu Ge and needed a reason to keep him. Ouyang Chu Ge had conveniently saved her some trouble. It was a case of the cunning being outwitted.

Ouyang Chu Ge, watching Su Xi suddenly change the subject, felt truly impressed by her adaptability. She was already gathering other information. However, since they were now in the same boat, Ouyang Chu Ge was naturally willing to share such information. After all, if he didn't, Su Xi would likely go and do it herself, potentially putting him in danger through carelessness. Therefore, to minimize losses, it was better to provide Su Xi with the information. He just needed to ensure that crucial details were not leaked.

Su Xi nodded seriously upon hearing Ouyang Chu Ge's explanation. "Then let's go there now."

"Go there for what?" Ouyang Chu Ge refused, not wanting to engage in any action. While he knew the direction of the prisoner detention area, it was heavily guarded. The two of them going there would be like sheep walking into a tiger's den. He only wanted to escape this place, not seek death. As long as he was safe, others were not his concern.

Su Xi smiled and explained, "You want to get out, and others surely know you want to get out. If we leave now, we'll fall into their trap. However, if we cause a major disturbance here that gets out of control, those people will have no choice but to divert some of their forces to deal with the chaos. Once their strength is weakened, it will be our chance to leave."

Ouyang Chu Ge found Su Xi's words to be very logical. Following Su Xi's plan, they might actually have a way to escape this place without wasting too much time. "Let's go." Ouyang Chu Ge was not one to hesitate. Having made a decision, he would not waver. Only by leaving here quickly and recovering his lost possessions could he return and reclaim everything he desired. Su Xi looked at Ouyang Chu Ge, a smile gracing her lips. She loved these kinds of reversals the most.
