Chapter 70: Chapter 70: A Day Apart
She shook her head, not daring to think further along his lines. The consequences were beyond what she could bear.
"Then... then let’s break up!"
Since the full moon banquet, the upper-class society of Aethelgard knew that Master Lancaster had a wife and twin sons. His life seemed complete.
No one expected the illustrious Elias Lancaster to quietly accomplish such a significant feat.
Those who had thought of sending their daughters to the Lancaster Family regretted being so fearful of Elias Lancaster at the time.
If they had been bold enough to send their daughters to seduce him, perhaps they could have succeeded.
But that is merely wishful thinking.
In the villa, Serena Yeats was unaffected by the outside world. The only thing she felt was a bit of boredom since the babies were not around.
She had just brought the babies home for a week before they were taken to The Lancaster Family.
Fortunately, time always seemed to pass quickly. She was slowly picking up her books again and had been anticipating her return to campus life.
Early in the morning, Elias Lancaster personally drove her to school.
But...
Behind them, there were two black cars following closely.
Serena asked, "Why are those two cars always following us?"
Elias reached out and patted her head, "Those are bodyguards."
Serena’s mouth gaped open in surprise, "Both cars?"
Elias nodded lightly.
Serena’s lips twitched.
He wanted her to enjoy her university days safely and worry-free.
By the time Serena realized it, the car had already driven directly into the school.
Elias held Serena’s hand as they got out of the car, and they saw the principal jogging over from a distance.
She was momentarily stunned, then remembered Elias’s status and wasn’t surprised anymore.
Shortly after, the people from the cars behind also got off: two girls, one of them Nia Irving, who was in the same year as her.
The other one she didn’t know, but she seemed about the same age.
The two girls noticed Serena’s gaze and smiled at her.
The principal and the school’s leaders welcomed them with smiles. "Hello, Master Lancaster! Hello, Mrs. Lancaster!"
Elias responded coolly with a hum.
Everyone was used to it by now.
Serena greeted politely, "Hello, Principal. Hello, teachers."
The principal and the school leaders grinned from ear to ear with smiles extending to their ears.
They all responded with a resonant "Hi!"
Then they hurriedly invited them into the teaching building, heading to the meeting room.
In the meeting room, the air conditioning had been turned on long ago, instantly dispelling the heat from their bodies as they walked in.
Sweat appeared on Serena’s forehead.
Elias took out a tissue and gently wiped her forehead.
This scene surprised everyone present.
Except, of course, the bodyguards.
Soon after, Quentin Shaw arrived.
Serena was puzzled about why Special Assistant Shaw was there.
After listening to the conversations between Special Assistant Shaw and the school leaders, she understood why he was there.
She didn’t need to say or do anything.
She just needed to sit with Elias and listen.
If Master Lancaster were to negotiate with them, they probably wouldn’t be able to say a word.
An hour later, the talks concluded.
Serena was still a bit dazed.
She looked at Elias with teary eyes.
On the day they got their marriage certificate, Elias had donated a building to the school as the best dormitory, just to provide her with a private room for a midday rest after the start of the semester.
As for the two female bodyguards attending school, the school had arranged for them to study with her, ensuring her safety while she completed her education.
Most importantly, there was an exam today, and as long as she passed, she would directly advance to the second year, skipping the first year entirely.
Everything was set up perfectly. Elias needed to go to the company, so everyone discreetly left the meeting room.
Elias reluctantly embraced her, giving her kiss after kiss, and after a long while, finally left the campus.
As soon as he left.
The principal brought the exam papers and let her take the exam right in the meeting room.
As soon as she finished each subject, the teacher grading it immediately.
By lunchtime, Serena had completed half of the exams.
She went to her apartment to wait while the bodyguards brought lunch prepared by Nanny Livingston. After a nap, she returned to the meeting room to continue the exams.
She had discussed with Elias about not needing to bring lunch since the school cafeteria had decent food.
But Elias disagreed, insisting on sending meals from home for her health and well-being.
By the afternoon, Serena finished the remaining exams.
The teachers were efficient, announcing that she passed each subject.
And her results were excellent!
The principal and several leaders reviewed Serena’s papers and were very pleased with her neat handwriting.
After mentioning some school pointers, they personally escorted her out of the meeting room.
The school had undergone some changes compared to before.
Serena wanted to take a stroll around the campus.
Thus.
She walked along the campus path with Nia and the other female bodyguard, Reese Lancaster. The three of them chatted happily as she showed them around like a tour guide.
When the school day ended, Elias’s car was already waiting outside the school gate.
Serena walked out and, seeing the car, realized she missed him after a day apart.
As soon as she saw the man stepping out of the car, a smile spread across her face, "Elias."
Elias extended his hand to catch the racing Serena, and a smile appeared on his lips. He took her hand, helped her into the car, fastened her seatbelt, and kissed her lips.
Serena playfully glared at him.
Elias chuckled, patting her head.
With one hand on the wheel and the other holding her hand, he asked, "How was the exam today? Are you tired?"
Serena pulled her hand away from his grip, "Focus on driving. What you’re doing is dangerous driving."
Elias reached out again, holding her hand, speaking in a meaningful tone, "Don’t worry, your husband is very capable."
Serena heard him and pretended not to hear, answering the previous question.
"I’m not tired. The meeting room was quiet and comfortable for the exams. And I passed them all; the scores seemed pretty good."
"My Serena is amazing!" He nodded.
They chatted back and forth, the car’s atmosphere cozy and warm.
Serena glanced at the man driving, his handsome profile and slender fingers.
But...
She suddenly noticed that he had become increasingly talkative, something she wasn’t sure when it started.
He used to be sparing with words, never speaking unnecessarily.
In the past, he hardly spoke even at work, but this was a good change. This version of him had more of the casual air of the everyday world.
Suddenly, Serena’s phone chimed with a message notification.
