Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The Reason Behind Master Lancaster’s Unusual Behavior
Quentin Shaw quickly reacted and chased after him.
He caught up while reporting all of Elias Lancaster’s schedule for the day, feeling as if Master Lancaster was in some sort of speed-walking race with how fast he was walking, even quickening his speech as he nearly ran out of breath.
It wasn’t until Elias Lancaster pushed open the office door and saw Serena Yeats sitting obediently on the sofa, eating cake.
Quentin Shaw finally understood the strange behavior of his President today.
So it was for the Young Madam; no wonder today’s consecutive meetings didn’t happen, and his walking turned into speed walking.
"Serena, did you wake up? Are you hungry? I’ll have someone prepare food."
Elias Lancaster walked over to Serena Yeats, reaching out his hand to pat her little head.
Serena Yeats smiled with her brows curved, shook her head, and scooped a spoonful of cake to offer to Elias Lancaster’s mouth.
"Uncle, have some strawberry cake. You didn’t eat much at lunch, let’s eat together."
Quentin Shaw watched the way the two looked at each other, feeling like a third wheel, while being fed a healthy dose of PDA, he turned to leave.
"Special Assistant Shaw"
Hearing Serena Yeats call him, Quentin Shaw glanced nervously at his CEO’s expression—luckily, it was fine.
He beamed with a smile, "Madam, do you have any requests?"
Serena Yeats picked up a piece of cake and walked over to him, "Please have some, Nanny Livingston made this cake, it’s really delicious."
Quentin Shaw had been so busy at noon he hadn’t had a chance to eat, his stomach was empty, he wanted to eat, but still hesitated...
He glanced at his President, saw his usual expression, noticing he wasn’t looking his way, so he dared to reach out and take it.
"Thank you, Madam. If there’s anything you need, don’t hesitate to ask."
Serena Yeats nodded with a smile.
"Uncle, your assistant can be won over with just a piece of cake, shouldn’t it be a whole meal? I’m really good at cooking."
Quentin Shaw was quick-witted, "Really? Then I definitely have to try it sometime. Madam, you’re impressive, aren’t you?"
Serena Yeats laughed happily, turning back to give Elias Lancaster a glance.
"Thank you."
After Quentin Shaw left, Serena Yeats returned to Elias Lancaster’s side to continue feeding him cake.
"Uncle, is it good?"
Elias Lancaster looked at her bright, clear eyes and nodded.
Serena Yeats grinned, taking a bite herself, "It’s delicious."
Elias Lancaster looked at her, feeling how wonderful his little girl was.
The vomiting at noon really scared him, but now seeing Serena Yeats eat cake without throwing up, he felt relieved.
It seems it was indeed the perfume scent that triggered it at noon.
Elias Lancaster made an internal call.
"Quentin, the company can no longer have the scent of perfume. Have Secretary Hughes bring in the documents."
Quentin Shaw was baffled receiving the call, what was this about?
No perfume?
What kind of situation was this?
But as a responsible assistant,
he immediately arranged it.
Turning around, he saw Serena Yeats eating a snack pack — chips, as he looked closer.
Moments later.
Secretary Hughes walked in with documents in hand.
"Little Miss, thank you for the chips."
Elias Lancaster watched Serena Yeats eating without the slightest sign of vomiting, feeling particularly pleased.
He looked at Secretary Hughes, "Thank you, your salary doubles this month."
Secretary Hughes was full of surprise.
"Thank you, President Lancaster, thank you, Serena." Instantly, the tone lightened a lot, Secretary Hughes glanced at Serena Yeats, blinking as if they were friends.
Until walking out of the office, Secretary Hughes felt as if floating, just like a dream, for just giving Serena a pack of chips, her salary doubled?
Instantly, she walked with a spring in her step, unable to suppress the smile on her face.
Passing Quentin Shaw’s office, she saw him eating cake and walked over immediately.
"Want some too? Our little madam gave it." Quentin Shaw said with a smile.
Quentin Shaw looked at her joyful demeanor, "Did something good happen after delivering the documents?"
Secretary Hughes was even more delighted and, ensuring no one was at the door, whispered, "President Lancaster just said my salary doubles this month."
Quentin Shaw was utterly surprised looking at her.
"What did you do?"
"Gave a pack of chips."
What Secretary Hughes said left Quentin Shaw baffled.
Soon after, he understood.
The two exchanged a glance, both realizing that to earn a high salary, besides doing their duties well, the most important thing was to keep the little madam inside happy.
In the president’s office, Serena Yeats ate a piece of cake and a pack of chips, feeling full, afraid of vomiting if she ate more after her lunchtime episode.
Elias Lancaster took a tissue from the desk, wiping Serena Yeats’ mouth, and had Secretary Hughes bring in disposable face wipes, wetting them to wipe Serena’s hands.
Serena Yeats’ bright, clear eyes stayed motionless, allowing Elias Lancaster to clean her hands and mouth, watching intently.
Serena Yeats inwardly marveled, Uncle looks so good, even more so than a star.
After he finished wiping, Elias Lancaster saw her staring dazedly at him, his heart racing, and lowered his head to kiss her lips lightly.
"Serena, if you keep looking at me like that, I might not be able to control myself."
Serena Yeats blinked, still looking somewhat unresponsive.
Elias Lancaster took a deep breath; her expression now really made him want to tease her, but he controlled his wild desires.
His long fingers brushed her cheek, voice deepening, "Baby, snap out of it."
Serena Yeats came back to her senses, hearing him call her baby, blushing, speaking nervously.
"Well... I was just thinking about something."
Elias Lancaster watched her eyes, drawing closer bit by bit.
Just as their lips were about to touch, Serena Yeats’ phone rang.
She smiled awkwardly, glancing at the phone, seeing it was Nathan Sawyer calling.
Elias Lancaster smiled, patting her head, "I’ll go get busy for a bit."
"Mm." Serena Yeats nodded.
Then, she answered the phone.
"Serena darling, I’m so bored—let’s go shopping."
"Sure, where to?"
"Where are you now?"
"I’m at Uncle’s company right now."
"The Lancaster Group? What are you doing there?" Nathan Sawyer asked in surprise.
"Uncle took me out for lunch, and we came here afterward," Serena Yeats explained.
"I’ll be downstairs soon, and I’ll call you when I arrive," Nathan Sawyer said.
After hanging up, Serena Yeats glanced at Elias Lancaster working.
"Uncle, I’m going shopping with Nathan later, is that okay?" Serena Yeats asked.
Elias Lancaster raised his head from the documents, glancing at her belly before nodding, "Stay safe. Call me if anything happens."
Serena Yeats nodded, then held her phone, lowering her head to text Nathan Sawyer.
Suddenly, she felt herself being lifted, instinctively reaching to wrap her arms around Elias Lancaster’s neck.
Elias Lancaster held her on his lap, his large hand resting on her rounded belly; her Korean-style clothes hid her pregnancy well.
But the feeling was great; Elias Lancaster didn’t sense any baby movements.
"Why aren’t they moving?"
"Huh?" Serena Yeats instinctively responded.
Realizing it, she said, "I was talking to the babies this morning, and they moved." Serena Yeats recalled the morning, speaking earnestly.
Then, she heard the man’s low voice.
"Babies, you must listen, don’t trouble your mom, otherwise, when you come out, you’ll get spanked."
