Chapter 28: AN IMPOSSIBLE GOAL?

Chapter 28: AN IMPOSSIBLE GOAL?

WONYOUNG could hear the sound of his brain on overdrive.

To be honest, he had stopped caring about what happened in the Endless novel. Aside from the fact that he couldn’t remember much, the ’scenes’ that took place there no longer applied to his situation.

His current reality had a vast difference from the things that happened in the novel.

Like how I didn’t fall into a coma in Endless.

Plus, Wonyoung had decided to stop running away from reality.

An Baekya is right, after all— whether this world exists inside a novel or not, it doesn’t change the fact that what we’re experiencing here is real.

That every single person there was real and not a mere book character.

Like Dujun Sunbae-nim...

"Hoobae-nim, I can hear it."

Wonyoung blinked slowly, confused and amazed at the same time. "Sunbae-nim can hear me using my brainpower?"

"No, I can hear your stomach rumbling," Yun Dujun said bluntly. "I knew you’d be hungry since it was already past lunch. So, I took the liberty of ordering food delivery for us."

"I don’t need you to feed me—"

"Sushi boat. You love that, don’t you? It’s the only raw food you can eat."

Wonyoung wanted to say that he wasn’t that hungry, but his stomach and love for sushi betrayed him.

Dujun Sunbae-nim is right— sushi is the only raw meat I don’t mind eating.

"Busan is known for its fresh seafood, so it will be a waste not to eat sushi here," Yun Dujun said, and then he pulled out his phone. "But if you’re not hungry, then I’ll just cancel—"

"Add sashimi and shrimp tempura, Sunbae-nim," Wonyoung said, swallowing his pride as he caved in to his craving. "Udon, too."

***

IT WASN’T just an ordinary sushi boat.

It’s the premium type.

Wonyoung was amazed to see a generous amount of bluefin and yellowfin tuna on the wooden boat.

Those things are really expensive.

Even the prawn tempura was big and obviously of high quality.

This is a dream sushi boat.

The udon looked great, too. Mushrooms and green onions were arranged neatly. The noodles looked chewy and springy as well.

Yep, that’s an excellent udon right there.

"What are you waiting for, Hoobae-nim?" Yun Dujun asked. "Why aren’t you eating yet?"

"I’m just minding my table manners," Wonyoung said, raising his head. He was now sitting across from Yun Dujun, a small and round table between them. Yes, the two of them were back in the mini living room of his private room in the hospital. "You’re older than me, Sunbae-nim. I can’t start eating until you’ve taken your first bite."

To be fair, the new generation didn’t really follow that etiquette anymore— especially if they were eating with people close to their age.

It’s different when you’re eating or drinking with elders, of course.

But Wonyoung just wanted to be ’polite’ so he’d feel distant from Yun Dujun.

I can’t act like we’re close anymore.

"Since when did you mind your manners around me, Hoobae-nim?"

"Starting now."

Yun Dujun rolled his eyes, and then he grabbed one bluefin tuna with his chopsticks.

Then the Alpha put the sushi in his mouth while looking at Wonyoung as if saying, ’Are you happy now?’

How petty.

"You may eat now, Hoobae-nim."

"How about An Baekya, Sunbae-nim?"

"Han Myung is with the kid, and I asked Han Myung to order whatever food An Baekya wanted to eat. They’re probably eating together now."

That’s a relief then.

Only then did Wonyoung start eating.

Of course, he chose his favorite first— yellowfin sushi.

Oh, it melts in the mouth.

"Is it good?"

"Yes, Sunbae-nim," Wonyoung answered politely because his mood improved after eating something delicious. "Thank you for the delicious meal."

Yun Dujun just nodded.

Let’s eat first and talk later.

After devouring the sushi boat and the udon...

"Okay, let’s talk," Wonyoung said while dipping his tempura prawn in the chogochugang sauce. "Sunbae-nim, why do you want me to work as your manager?"

"I need a manager," Yun Dujun said, sipping his green tea before speaking again. "I fired the last one because I found out that he was my mother’s spy. Since I’m finding it hard to trust another person again to be my manager, I figured you’d fit the role."

Oho?

"Do you trust me, Sunbae-nim?"

"You, of all people, won’t betray me and side with my mother."

Ah, that made sense.

"I won’t be accepting any acting projects for at least three months, so your workload as my manager will be light," Yun Dujun said as if he were trying to convince Wonyoung to accept his offer. "But your job will include looking after Yun Yuhyun."

Aha!

"That’s your true agenda. Right, Sunbae-nim?"

Yun Dujun just sipped his tea quietly.

Aigoo.

"Sunbae-nim, can you promise me that your mother won’t be able to touch me and An Baekya?"

"Yes," Yun Dujun promised without missing a heartbeat. "I guarantee your safety this time."

To be honest, Wonyoung couldn’t say that he had faith in the Alpha’s promise.

I’m still scared of his mother.

However, he also decided to stop running away from his new reality.

These people aren’t book characters— they are as real as I am.

That also meant Yun Yuhyun was a real person, not just a mere red flag character from a toxic BL novel.

"Give me time to think about your offer, Sunbae-nim."

After all, Wonyoung still needed to ask for An Baekya’s opinion.

It probably won’t be easy for An Baekya to see his abuser again, even though Yun Yuhyun is only a child now.

***

"I DON’T really care if I meet Yun Yuhyun or not."

Wonyoung was pretty shocked after hearing what An Baekya said.

Right now, he was in the playroom with the child.

He went there to pick him up because the two of them were ready to leave the hospital.

Of course, Dujun Sunbae-nim has already paid our bills.

Han Myung was standing outside the room, waiting for them.

That was why Wonyoung and An Baekya were sitting on the bean bags with their backs on the bodyguard.

And Dujun Sunbae-nim is waiting for us in the car.

"I have a goal, Uncle Wonyoungie," An Baekya said in a serious tone. "We might need the Yuns’ help for that."

"What’s your goal?" Wonyoung asked curiously. "Can you tell me about it, Baekya?"

"Sure, Uncle Wonyoungie."

"I’m listening."

An Baekya nodded before dropping the ’bomb.’ "I need to earn one hundred billion won before I become an adult."

Wonyoung almost choked on his saliva. "One hundred billion won?!"
