Chapter 49: Information Layer, Unexpected Surprise (2)
"You know about the Immortal Lady behind Evan, then what she said was right. You come from outer space, right?" Grey asked in an inquiring tone. He was genuinely curious — to have come from outer space, Eterna must be a very powerful AI from a highly advanced civilization that had achieved space travel or something even higher.
"I indeed don’t originate from Blue Star." Eterna gave a gentle, expressionless nod. "I came from beyond the sky."
"From how much information you know about outer space, I take it that you are a reincarnated being?" Eterna asked.
"I could be, or not." Grey didn’t outright answer.
He didn’t trust Eterna enough. Actually, even if he didn’t trust her, she already knew everything about him, and he definitely wouldn’t be able to do anything if the entire fleet of the New Federation’s army came marching down on him — or if she simply sent a drone strike his way.
Still, him being a reincarnated being was not something he would easily reveal. Besides, he wasn’t one in the first place, he was someone who crossed over and possessed someone. Meaning, he was a transmigrator.
As for his ability, he would never reveal it, even if it cost his life.
"Reincarnated beings and transmigrators — they are not new to Blue Star." Seeing Grey hesitate, Eterna replied. "It’s even more common in the starry sky."
"What?" Grey’s expression drastically changed when he heard this. "Does that mean there are transmigrators in this world?"
"No," Eterna said. "The federation eliminated them. No new threat has been found since the past week. But there are still some lingering around."
"..." Grey grew cautious when he heard this. He was just about to try to cut the connection off to run away when Eterna spoke again.
"But you are fine," Eterna said. "Those people — they are beings that entered this world seeking the world’s source power. They are beings who transmigrate with the purpose of destroying Blue Star."
"You might know them. They are the infamous evil organization called the High Order. While the majority of its members are citizens of Blue Star, the people running it are beings who were transported into this world from another."
"Coming back to the topic — if you are either a reincarnator or a transmigrated being, it wouldn’t make a difference, because the planet’s consciousness has accepted you as one of its own. One would never be able to identify that you are one unless you reveal too much."
"Huh?" Hearing this, Grey was dumbfounded. "So it turns out there are many transmigrators in this world?"
"Yes. And they cross over for one single purpose — to take over the world’s source. In that regard, both the Abyss and they are similar. They all want the world’s source."
On the other hand, Grey had a slightly questioning gaze. Hearing words like world’s source and world’s consciousness was slightly confusing.
"The world’s consciousness... is Blue Star conscious?" Grey asked with a slightly surprised tone.
However, Eterna didn’t give him the answer he wanted. "Your citizen level is too low to know that answer."
"..." Grey’s eyes darkened. "Why did you mention it if you can’t give me an answer? Do all super-powerful beings do this? First, it was that Immortal Lady, and now you."
"There are a lot of secrets concerning Blue Star," Eterna explained expressionlessly. "I myself will fall under Heaven’s radar if I disclose information unnecessarily. And there are things that cannot be revealed to you right now because you are far too weak — knowing them can be very harmful to you."
"So you won’t tell me anything about outer space, or the endless sky, or the ice wall covering the world, or why the planet is flat?" Grey’s expression dimmed.
He honestly thought he was going to get some sort of answer from Eterna, but from her tone and the way she worded it, he knew he couldn’t gain much more information out of her.
"Your citizenship rank is too low to know that information," Eterna said. "Increase your citizenship rank, and you’ll naturally find more information about it."
"What rank do I have to be to gain access to that information?" Grey inquired.
"Four," Eterna said indifferently. "You need a citizenship rank of four — or become a fourth-rank Evolver yourself — to know all the information."
"Fourth rank?" Grey almost spat out blood.
It was known to everyone that there were only five fourth-rank beings — and they were the top experts of the top universities of Blue Star and the Federation Master himself.
To reach that level, Grey didn’t know how long it would take.
He sighed. "Take it slow, I guess."
"Not like I can resolve the mysteries of Blue Star with my current power anyway."
Then Grey shifted the subject.
"I wanted to ask this from the beginning — from the fact that you were aware of me undergoing heavenly tribulation, does that also mean you are aware of the Tiger Claw Gang creating corruption fields?"
"Yes," Eterna replied.
This time, Grey didn’t jump to conclusions and waited for Eterna to finish her words, as she was really good at dropping bombshells of information and then pausing to take a breather.
"I’m aware of the Tiger Claw Gang. The reason I detected the heavenly tribulation was due to their personal phones — my network covers every technological across Blue Star."
"Then why didn’t you stop them from creating these fields?" Grey asked.
Surely, with Eterna knowing this, the Federation Master naturally knew as well. Then why hadn’t they taken the initiative to eliminate people like these?
"I’m not powerful enough to intervene directly. I reported the corruption field the moment it appeared, but before the federation could act, you had already neutralized it. My authority only allows observation and reporting—by the time a response could have been authorized, the threat was already gone."
"That aside, why haven’t you guys destroyed the Tiger Claw Gang already? It’s clear that they don’t side with humanity," Grey inquired curiously.
Everything had a reason, and he knew there was something going on here as well.
"The Tiger Claw Gang is weak — all it would take is the descension of one second-rank Evolver," Eterna said slowly. "But the reason they still stand is because of the constant pressure the Federation army experiences from the High Order whenever they try to launch an attack on the gang. Which means, they are backed by the High Order — leading me to believe that a being of the Abyss has already joined their ranks which completely keeps my detection abilities limited."
