Chapter 50: Information Layer, Unexpected Surprise (3)
"What a strange world." Grey sighed. "Otherworlders, the Abyss, and the High Order. I knew this world was strange, with people pulling strings in the background, but I never thought it would be this deep."
Then, as if thinking about something, Grey inquired, "Those people of the High Order know about the starry sky, right?"
To this, Eterna simply nodded subtly.
"Then why haven’t they taken any action against the Endless Sky or the Ice wall?" Grey was curious. This world was a low-level backwater planet, according to the Immortal Lady. What would they possibly achieve on this planet?
If it was Grey in their shoes, he would definitely try to leave for the starry sky.
However, just like before, he didn’t get the answer he was looking for.
"Your citizen level is too low to know the answer," Eterna said with a straight face.
"Whatever." Grey rolled his eyes. "I’m done asking. I called out to you to upload my evolutionary path. Can we get to that now?"
"Yes." Eterna nodded and waved her hand, and instantly an interface appeared in front of Grey.
"This is extremely convenient." Grey couldn’t help but say. "To be able to bring and access information anywhere, anytime, just by utilizing your mind... I think I might be able to create a technique to make it possible. With that, I’ll be able to do a lot of things."
"..." Eterna continued staring blankly at Grey, not surprised at his remarks. She was already aware of his heaven-defying capabilities—from comprehending the Zenith Sword Art to perfection, to achieving Sword Energy the instant he became an evolver.
Then, Grey had a confused look. "How am I going to put my evolutionary path into this? It’s in a physical notebook back in the physical world."
"Try to force your Psionic energy out. The Psionic energy is the way to navigate through the information layer, and it will automatically load the information," Eterna said softly as she came closer to Grey and put her hand on his face. Her eyes flashed slightly.
Grey felt slightly uncomfortable with someone as gorgeous as Eterna standing right next to him and touching his face, but he still focused and tried to do as she instructed.
He tried to bring it out just like she said, but he failed miserably. His consciousness only trembled slightly and didn’t even listen to him.
But he didn’t give up. He tried again, and this time a gentle current emerged from outside and nudged his consciousness, which seemed to be afraid of stepping into the information layer.
Eventually, his consciousness spread out.
"This usually happens the first time you enter the information layer. Your consciousness gets stunned by the crossing of dimensions—it’ll take time to get used to it," Eterna said in a gentle tone. "But your soul is far stronger; it can survive in this world indefinitely for a long time. That’s why you weren’t immediately kicked out from the layer."
Grey nodded. "Can I upload the evolutionary path now?"
"Yes," Eterna replied.
Grey immediately focused his Mind Perception on the interface in front of him and recalled the information of the Aether Evolutionary Path.
Immediately, the relevant information began appearing in the interface about his evolutionary path.
"..." Eterna, who was receiving the information, had a complicated look on her face as the data poured into her database.
"Evolutionary path has been confirmed to be real," Eterna said. "Evolver resonance to the author is possible, making it a real path."
"Of course it’s real. This is the path I forged on my own." Grey smiled.
"Ranking the evolutionary path. Ranking complete. Rank EX has been assigned to the evolutionary path due to its versatility and major advantage over other common energies." Eterna didn’t pause but kept replying as screens flickered around her.
"Calculating the success rate of cultivating the path. Success!" Eterna moved a screen towards Grey and displayed it. "Chances of becoming an evolver: 100%. Chances of reaching peak of 1st rank: 100%. Chances of reaching 2nd rank: 90%. Chances of reaching peak of 2nd rank: 0.5%. Chances of reaching 3rd rank: 0%."
"Huh?" Grey was surprised when he saw the success rate. "How did it go from 90% to straight 0.5%?"
At the same time, he was also rather excited. A 100% success rate meant even normal beings who had energy restrictions like him could also cultivate his path.
This was opening up a whole new world to the ordinary beings in the world!
"Starting from the second rank, things are no longer just about strengthening oneself to transcend limits. Another factor comes into play—laws." Eterna patiently explained to Grey. "The Aether Evolutionary Path hasn’t touched upon the laws of the world and hence cannot ascend to higher levels of the 2nd rank yet."
"Laws." Grey nodded. It made sense. Starting from the 2nd rank, one would begin comprehending laws. For example, martial artists would comprehend the Law of Swords or the Law of Killing, cultivators would comprehend spiritual laws like the Law of Fire or Wood, while other minor evolutionary paths would focus on basic laws like gravity.
It was a common theme—comprehending laws was a necessity to gain more connection with the world and ascend to greater heights.
’For myself, I should try comprehending the law behind heavenly tribulation,’ Grey mused. If he could comprehend the law behind it, then he could directly destroy every other law, since heavenly tribulation stood supreme above all.
For the Aether Evolutionary Path, he would come up with something in time. He wouldn’t stop until he perfected his evolutionary path, after all.
"I understand." Grey nodded at Eterna. "You can upload the path to the public now."
Eterna nodded at this and spoke. "Your path has been uploaded."
"Alright, now that it’s done, can I leave?" Grey inquired.
Then, he paused and thought of something. "How do I create a similar interface to yours? I want all the things in my phone to be accessible using my mind. It should be possible with the information layer, right?"
He thought about it. For a normal person, it was nigh impossible, but he wasn’t normal. He could enter the information layer and, according to Eterna, that was where all the information of this world was stored—where she herself lived.
"It is possible for you," Eterna nodded softly, her crystalline eyes shimmering like data streams. "But it’s not as simple as dragging an app into your mind. The information layer doesn’t work with crude human interfaces. It’s a field of raw data, concepts, and connections—not icons or code. You’ll have to create a cognitive anchor first."
