Chapter 1750: Sacrificing something bigger

Chapter 1750: Sacrificing something bigger

What I was seeing was that the mutated orcs were stepping into the array that was releasing the corruption energy.

These mutated orcs were standing in the spots that the cloaked shaman had shown me before. These were the spots of the array where the sacrifices should be placed before they were taken by the array.

After standing in those spots for a bit, there was something that made the mutated orcs disappear without a trace. It was as if their bodies were sucked up by something and turned into pure energy that was absorbed by the array.

Once that happened, it seemed like more corruption energy came out of the array.

So the transfer of corruption energy was done through the sacrifice that was done with the array.

It was no wonder the corruption energy monsters just stood on the side and watched.

Though there was a part of me that couldn’t help wondering, "Since the mutated orcs are corrupted by corruption energy, doesn’t that mean that this is less effective than if they use live orcs?"

After all, it wasn’t as if they could sacrifice corruption energy to summon more corruption energy. If that was possible, they could have easily used the different corruption energy monsters that were gathered around in place of the mutated orcs.

So it seemed like it was an ineffective way of using this array if that was what they were doing...

"No, there has to be something else. There has to be something that I missed." I thought to myself as I watched a few more mutated orcs being sacrificed.

While I was watching them, I could see that there was something happening to the mutated orcs as they were being sacrificed. It was as if there was some kind of realization of what was happening and their expressions changed.

Why would their expressions change all of a sudden like this?

"No, in the first place...why are the mutated orcs so easy to purify? Compared to the demons back then, it seems like they’re much easier to save." This thought suddenly came to mind before I slowly started to realize something.

The reason that the mutated orcs were so easy to purify was because they were only being controlled by the corruption energy. Or else they wouldn’t have only been mutated this far with how long they had been living with the corruption energy.

The forces of Destruction were doing this on purpose.

They didn’t use the corruption energy to completely change the orcs, they just did it enough so that the orcs would be easy to control.

It was also the reason why the mutated orcs were all heading in the direction of this array.

This allowed them to pull out the corruption energy when the orcs were being sacrificed to the array, which would cancel out that issue of how ineffective it was to sacrifice mutated orcs.

It seemed that they had already thought of all of this when they planned on using the orcs for this.

The orcs were just being raised as cattle to be sacrificed to the array...

It really put into perspective how little the forces of Destruction cared about living things.

While I was watching, I couldn’t help thinking about how the forces of Destruction had operated in the Mofu Mofu Kingdom.

"That illness isn’t as simple as it seemed..."

That illness was most likely a ploy to gather life energy that was sacrificed to the array just like how they were sacrificing the orcs.

Both the orcs and the demi humans possessed strong life force as races that had powerful physiques, it seemed like that was the reason why they had been targeted.

But unlike in this land of the orcs, the forces of Destruction couldn’t operate openly in the Mofu Mofu Kingdom. As such, they had no choice but to slowly gather the energy that they needed.

The way that they did this was with the illness.

The illness that spread was caused by corruption energy and we had thought that it was because they spent a long time near corruption energy that they were ill. But the symptoms that they demonstrated were all similar to someone that had lost their vitality.

Which meant that they most likely had their life force stolen by the corruption energy in some way.

That life force had most likely been sacrificed to the array to summon the corruption energy.

Since we interfered with the ’illness’ and they couldn’t gather more life force to sacrifice, that was most likely why they activated the array.

Slowly all of the clues seemed to link into place and solved the puzzle for me.

After watching for a bit longer, I turned to leave.

There was nothing else for me to see and I didn’t want to push things too far.

Though I was still standing a distance away from the array, I could feel the pressure that was coming from in front of me.

Even with the power of two Spirit Kings, I didn’t believe that a demigod like one of the Four Omens would miss detecting me.

So what it was doing was most likely showing me all of this as if it was saying that there was nothing that I could do to stop them.

Still, I noted all of the things that were important before making my way back.

While I couldn’t say that I had a plan, I at least had a good idea of what to do to stop them.

At least I had an idea of what I needed to do to draw out that member of the Four Omens.

After drawing them out, it was all about figuring out a way to take them down.

Without knowing what kind of ability this member of the Four Omens had, it really was hard to figure out if I could defeat them.

So the only thing that could be done was to take it one step at a time.
