Chapter 121 The Philosopher

Wen Wen first shifted himself into a ghost form, transferring the vampire's hypnosis ability to his ring, and waited ten minutes, ensuring he could switch back at any time during combat.

Then, he floated into the security room and hypnotized the guard, instructing him not to leave under any circumstances, no matter what sounds he heard.

Finally, he effortlessly phased through the wall and entered the museum, without triggering any security measures. His ease was almost unsettling.

With his myriad of abilities, infiltrating a place with such ease was normal, yet he still felt a flicker of unease.

He manifested the Disaster Gloves and began testing them against the items he had noted during the day, those that were faintly imbued with supernatural energy.

One, two, three. He tested over a dozen items, but none reacted with the Disaster Gloves.

“This shouldn't be…”

Wen Wen’s brows furrowed into a knot, then gradually relaxed, his expression shifting to something less than normal.

“Forget it, I’ll just take everything in this museum. To hell with the consequences. At worst, I’ll find that item and return these later!”

He wasn’t just speaking; he was genuinely planning to do it.

With that black briefcase, transporting all the exhibits wouldn’t be a problem for him.

He acted on the thought, returning to The Disaster Containment Facility to retrieve the black briefcase. From it, he pulled out a large iron hammer.

Swinging the hammer in a wide arc, he was about to bring it down when a refined voice echoed from behind him.

“What are you doing?”

Wen Wen turned his head and saw that, at some point, a person had appeared behind him.

The man wore glasses, a waistcoat with a bowtie, and a stylish mustache. His hair and beard were white, but his face was remarkably handsome. He was currently looking at Wen Wen with curiosity.

“Uh, I wanted to chisel a cabinet. Eighty per hammer stroke…” Wen Wen replied, slightly embarrassed at being caught in the act.

The man shook his head gently, signaling Wen Wen not to be nervous. His demeanor caused Wen Wen to pause.

“Damn it, I’m finding a man attractive!”

Shaking his head, Wen Wen warily eyed the man. Appearing suddenly behind him, he was clearly not to be trifled with.

Suddenly, Wen Wen’s eyes widened. He had seen this man during the day, in the museum, in a painting on the wall! Su Dan Novel Network

He was the philosopher from the painting!

Zombie resurrection? Immortality? A phantom created by supernatural power? Hallucination? A shapeshifter?

Countless possibilities flashed through Wen Wen’s mind, but he couldn’t ascertain what it was.

“By the way, do you like philosophy?” the white-bearded philosopher suddenly asked.

Wen Wen blinked, unsure how to respond. Was this a trial to obtain that item?

After a moment of thought, he tentatively replied, “I do?”

The white-bearded philosopher’s eyes lit up, and he spoke with a fluency that could move mountains:

“Then let me ask you a question. A madman has tied five innocent people to a trolley track. The trolley will pass by, and these five people will die.”

“You can pull a lever, diverting the trolley to another track, but there is one person tied to that other track as well. Will you pull the lever?”

“What kind of absurd question is this? A death trap!”

Wen Wen’s forehead was covered in black lines. He pondered for another two seconds before deciding, “I choose to leave. I’ll let someone else make the choice; I won’t make it myself.”

“Incorrect answer!”

The white-bearded philosopher removed his waistcoat, revealing a white undershirt that stretched taut over his muscular physique.

Then, he produced a mace from somewhere!

“…This art style has changed a bit too quickly!”

“Yah! Philosophical judgment!”

The white-bearded philosopher swung the mace and attacked.

Wen Wen leaned his head back, the mace grazing his nose and drawing a wisp of blood.

His golden pupils constricted. This philosopher could actually harm a ghost!

Wen Wen floated upwards, using his speed and the ethereal nature of his ghost form to briefly entangle with the philosopher before quickly retreating.

This guy’s physical condition was probably close to the human limit, capable of tearing car doors off with his bare hands. However, compared to Wen Wen’s vampire state, he was utterly outmatched.

But his attacks carried something special, something that made Wen Wen hesitant.

Moreover, this white-bearded philosopher seemed inexhaustible, fought silently, and caused no damage to the building.

Just as Wen Wen was about to switch back to his vampire mode to deal with this guy, he stopped, his eyes narrowing.

“No rush to deal with him, let’s observe the situation first…”

Then, Wen Wen’s body became ethereal, phasing directly into the ground. Moments later, he reappeared outside the museum entrance, observing the philosopher.

After Wen Wen left, about ten minutes later, the violent philosopher’s figure dissolved into the air like a bubble.

“As expected. Even if I dealt with that guy, I might not find the item. If I accidentally destroyed something during the fight and drew attention, I might never have another chance…”

“That thing must be here. If I watch the whole process again, I might find a clue.”

Wen Wen first went to the pool outside the museum, collected some water, and then re-entered the museum with it. Using his water ghost abilities, he transformed the water into a mist that floated around him.

As a water ghost, he possessed hydrokinesis, allowing him to sense changes in the water vapor. If this mist altered in any way, Wen Wen would be alerted.

This method couldn't monitor a large area, but it could track anything around Wen Wen. The white-bearded philosopher from before had appeared near Wen Wen.

A moment later, the mist stirred slightly. Wen Wen understood and turned his head.

“This fresh mist… I feel as though I’ve found the sea.”

A middle-aged, artistic man in a blue robe appeared behind Wen Wen. With a refined aura, he sniffed the mist, likely not as volatile as the previous elder.

As expected, Wen Wen had also seen this man in a painting at the museum.

“If you like the feeling of the sea, I can take you to the beach…” Wen Wen interrupted the artistic philosopher who was sniffing the water vapor everywhere.

“Do you like philosophy?” the artistic philosopher asked with a smile.

“Like?” Wen Wen replied uncertainly.

“Then please, answer this: If a ship is damaged and needs parts replaced, and all of its parts are eventually replaced, is it still the same ship?” the artistic philosopher asked excitedly.

“Uh, does it… not count?”

For some reason, Wen Wen’s heart trembled as he answered, feeling like a child being questioned by a teacher.

“Incorrect answer, accept philosophical judgment!”

The artistic philosopher tore off his robe, revealing a blue, one-piece bodysuit underneath. Beneath the tight suit, he had the same robust muscles as the white-bearded philosopher.

Then, he leaped two to three meters into the air and attacked Wen Wen bare-handed, his movements indicating he intended to smash Wen Wen’s skull.

“Sigh…”

Wen Wen sighed, dodging the attack while lamenting,

“I understand if you’ve become more aggressive, but you can’t defy objective reality. Philosophers aren’t this muscular…”
