Chapter 217: Chapter 217: This Is Not A Dream
Today’s adventure was quite tiring, taking photoshoots at two tourist attractions. Despite the exhaustion, Victoria still wanted to enjoy the beauty of the night sky before bed. It’s rare for her to be given the opportunity to gaze at the stars to her heart’s content in an open-air accommodation. She admitted that today she wouldn’t complain to her husband again about his overly excessive honeymoon proposal.
The spring air was quite chilly at night, making her shiver even more, even though she was wearing pajamas and a coat. As she rubbed her palms together, she suddenly felt warm from her husband’s embrace.
"Why didn’t you tell me you were cold?" Matthias asked softly.
"I thought you weren’t finished showering yet." She turned her head for a moment. "Besides, I’m not that cold."
"If you’re not cold, why can I feel your body shivering?" He gently pinched his wife’s cheek. "Can you stop being so arrogant?"
Victoria lowered her head shyly, slowly stroking her husband’s hand. "Actually, I’m embarrassed to ask you to hug me."
"Even though I am your husband, why do you have to treat me like a stranger?"
"I never treated you like a stranger." Her arms were wrapped around his broad back. "I always treated you like a special person in my life."
A sweet smile spread across his handsome face. "Even though you used to treat me like your worst enemy."
"That’s because I admit I made a huge mistake back then. If only I hadn’t had amnesia, I wouldn’t have cursed you."
"But every time you curse me, I feel like you’re doing it insincerely. That’s why I never feel offended when I hear your curses."
"Because you’re too good for me. Whether I still have amnesia or not, I still like you very much." Her eyes returned to the stars and the full moon in the sky, plus the view of the mountain before her. "This holiday moment, I can’t forget it. I thought it was impossible for you to grant my wish. Turns out you never joked with me."
"If I always joke with you, I admit that I am a jerk." Matthias spontaneously led his wife back into the room again because the air was getting colder.
Victoria continued to gaze at her husband’s handsome face with a fixation. She found it increasingly difficult to sleep, refusing to let what she was doing now be just a dream. They had faced so many obstacles before, but now she could finally enjoy her life in peace.
As they slept facing each other, embracing, her husband’s scent lingering in her mind. She didn’t want this to be just a dream. Her eyes suddenly welled up with tears as she imagined all the sweet moments they had shared.
"Tory, why are you crying?" Matthias asked, gently caressing his wife’s cheek.
"I don’t want to be separated from you again. I hope this isn’t all a dream."
"This isn’t a dream. I really am here with you right now." A weak sigh escaped his lips. "Could it be that you’re still traumatized by signing the divorce papers?"
Victoria nodded.
"I’m sorry. This time, I promise I won’t do something stupid like that again. After all, you’re the only woman I love. I don’t want to marry anyone else. Even if they match me with Laura, I won’t."
Hearing her husband’s confident words, a beaming smile returned to her face. "Ansel always said that Laura and I looked alike. But I’m actually curious about you: why did you fall in love with me so easily back then? Was it because I looked like Laura?"
"No. But, I do like you because you managed to change my personality, Laura couldn’t." His hands patted his wife’s back rhythmically. "I used to hate cooking. But since I learned to cook with you, I really enjoy cooking now. Also, I used to rarely smile. Every time I see you smile, I often smile too now."
"Besides, you used to be so awkward. Ever since I came along, you’ve been confiding in Marcel."
Matthias furrowed his brows. "How much did Marcel tell you?"
Victoria laughed so hard her face turned red. "Actually, he often reports to me whenever you’re feeling anxious. He’s overwhelmed with your constant anxiety."
"Turns out he’s not trustworthy! When he gets home, I’ll have to give him a lot of work!"
"I’m sorry, Matty." Her lips landed deeply on her husband’s cheek. "I won’t be stupid this time either. I don’t like you always confiding in Marcel as if he were your wife."
"Actually, I rarely talk to him anymore. I tend to always talk to Ansel."
"Now you two are so close and united. Like inseparable best friends. Even though you used to be enemies."
"After hearing Ansel’s story earlier, I understand. He’s actually a bit like me. I don’t blame him for proposing to you. But I also don’t want him to steal you away from me, since we’re already married."
"The thing I liked most about my ex-fiancé was how much he cared for me. Even when I was alone in the hospital, he always stayed with me. Even though I always asked him questions, his answer was always the same. He loved being there for lonely people."
Matthias gently stroked his wife’s head. "Tomorrow, I’ll take you somewhere beautiful too. I want you to sleep first."
"Then, what about you?"
"I want to watch you sleep first. Once you’re asleep, I can sleep peacefully. Just like I used to always accompany you before bed."
"Do you know the main reason I like you too?"
Matthias narrowed his eyes. "Is it because I always sleep with you?"
"Because you never do it secretly when I sleep. If another man were with me, they would definitely attack me."
"But has Ansel ever accompanied you? Is he trustworthy?"
"He just keeps me company for dinner. I usually kick him out after dinner."
"I see. No wonder the first time we did it, there was a red mark on the bed."
"Don’t worry. I just want to do it with you."
