Chapter 162: Chapter 162: Final Hearing
If Victoria were considering her decision for tomorrow, she certainly couldn’t go against Matthias’s wishes. If Matthias wanted to divorce her, there was nothing she could do. The decision was in his hands, having proposed this crazy idea. He hadn’t agreed to the divorce from the start.
"Ansel, I just want Matthias to be happy. If I force him to stay in our relationship, will he be able to live happily ever after?"
"Of course he would be happy if you were still living as a married couple," Ansel replied casually.
"But Matthias remains stubborn and wants to divorce me to protect me." Victoria lowered her head in resignation, massaging her forehead. "I’m still wondering what problems he’s facing now that he’s so determined to divorce me?"
"So, do you still want to divorce him tomorrow? Or do you want to ruin the trial?"
"I’ll assess the situation tomorrow. If I can persuade Matthias to think this through more carefully, that would be even better."
"I just want you to think this through carefully. As your ex-fiancé and your best friend, I can only respect your opinions."

On the other hand, Matthias still refused to look his bride-to-be in the face during the ride home. He felt her behavior this time was excessive and had further strained his relationship with Victoria. Furthermore, hearing Victoria congratulate him on his wedding enraged Matthias. Amber should have been the one to say those words to him and Victoria, but now the situation was the complete opposite.
"Amber, can you please not act too much before we get married?"
"We’re getting married soon, aren’t we? Why are you scolding me? Isn’t your ex-girlfriend allowed to congratulate us?"
"Actually, I didn’t stop you from letting Victoria congratulate us. But, you really went too far earlier. You treated me like I was your husband when we’re not even married yet!"
"Then what’s the difference between you and Victoria? You’re just business partners, but you treat her like you’re married! I’m actually so jealous of you being so sweet!" Amber laughed awkwardly as she shouted. "I really feel like I’m going crazy right now. I feel like you married me out of coercion. If you had married Victoria, I’m sure you wouldn’t have scolded her."
Matthias gripped the steering wheel tightly. "Anyway, the more you overreact, the less comfortable I’ll be with you. Just act like a normal woman."
In the end, Amber chose to remain silent, wiping away the tears that were wetting her eyes. "You’re so cruel to me, Matthias."
Matthias took the initiative to get a tissue for Amber. "Wipe your tears first. I’m driving, so I can’t help you right now."
*****
Today is the worst day for Victoria and Matthias. They’re reunited in the same room, but the current situation will determine whether they truly want to maintain their relationship, even after signing the divorce papers.
Today, Victoria decided not to work all day so she could focus and rest after attending the final hearing. Since today was the worst day of her life, Victoria chose dark clothing, as she was deeply saddened by the harsh reality of the day. She also didn’t want to wear too much makeup, as it would surely smudge from crying.
Before she went to the courthouse, she looked around the luxurious residence with tears in her eyes. She and Matthias had shared so many wonderful memories in this house over the years. If they were to officially divorce, she would have to forget all those beautiful memories and take off the scarlet heart necklace.
"Matthias, thank you for being a good husband to me all this time. I won’t scold you if you still want to divorce me."
Now mentally prepared to visit the courthouse, she was still confident as she entered the courtroom. However, seeing Matthias’s gloomy expression broke her heart.
Before entering the courtroom together, Victoria took the initiative to grab Matthias’s hand for a moment and hid behind the wall. She was worried that Matthias would cry in there and disrupt the trial, which would only further harm them.
"Matthias, what’s wrong with you?"
Matthias still had his head down, looking away. "I’m fine, actually. It’s just that I couldn’t sleep last night."
"Is it because of the divorce hearing today?"
"Victoria, do you really want a divorce?"
Victoria could only press her lips together tightly. "Matthias, I’m actually just going along with your decision. I respect all your decisions, whether they benefit or harm me."
"So, you really don’t care what I want to do next? What if I hurt your feelings again like before? Will you still love me?"
"Of course, because even now I still have a hard time hating you."
Finally Matthias knew the answer after hearing Victoria’s words. Matthias immediately walked away from Victoria. "We have to go in now."
In the courtroom, only the panel of judges, Matthias as the appellee and Victoria as the appellant, were present. Each had taken their positions, ready to hear the divorce verdict today.
While the judge hadn’t said anything, Matthias’s eyes grew even more teary as he stared at his wife, who was nearly crying from a distance. He didn’t want this bitter situation to end any longer. Therefore, he immediately resolved to tell the truth.
He confidently raised his right hand. "Your Honor, may I please cancel this hearing?"
"Why do you want to cancel it all of a sudden? Do you think the trial is a game?!"
In the end, Matthias couldn’t hold back his loud crying, and Victoria felt even more reluctant to divorce her husband. She took the initiative to raise her right hand, wanting to cancel the divorce proceedings.
"Your Honor, I also agree with the appellee."
Now it was just the two of them left in the courtroom. Matthias, still crying, slowly walked over to his wife, who was sitting in the appellant’s chair.
Matthias had been suppressing his anxiety for too long, and he nearly fainted. Victoria quickly caught his muscular body.
"Matthias, are you okay?"
