Chapter 296: Mutual Use

Chapter 296: Chapter 296: Mutual Use

Austin Winters touched his swollen face, beaten by Harry Hunter, his teeth gritted in hatred.

Harry Hunter was the sole heir in three generations of the Hunter Family. Ben Hunter feared any mishap could befall him, so he raised Harry’s combat power to its peak; even ten men couldn’t match him.

Then there was Connor. Ben Hunter found him somewhere obscure, a martial arts prodigy who shadowed Harry wherever he went.

Cherry Lewis had caused quite a few jealous scenes over Connor in the past, because Harry took Connor everywhere, knew all his secrets, and gifted him cars and luxurious villas with ease, treating him better than he did his fiancée.

Amy Winters detested Harry Hunter to her core and couldn’t stand Cherry Lewis either. Coming from the lowly position of a dancer, having seen countless darkness and dirt, the tricks Cherry Lewis pulled were child’s play to her.

"Cherry Lewis picked you to marry so quickly because she finds you easy to manipulate and control, while you’re backed by the Hunter Family’s influence. You’re the ideal candidate for marriage and marrying you means she can avenge Harry, team up with the old lady, and even crush Isabella Weaver – a win-win situation! You need to be wary of her!"

"I know. It’s just mutual exploitation."

...

At the Lewis Family home, Cherry Lewis lied on the bed, covered in bruises. Her prideful face was especially grotesque, even with the best medication, it couldn’t be restored quickly.

Zoe Lewis attended to her cautiously by the bed, applying ice to her face.

"Ouch!"

Cherry’s face surged with pain, and she sat up abruptly: "Why are you pressing so hard, trying to kill me with pain?!"

Zoe appeared terrified: "Sister, I didn’t mean to, don’t be angry! I’ll be gentler!"

Filled with fury and having nowhere to vent, Cherry unleashed it all on Zoe.

This cousin of hers was timid and useless, spending all day kissing up and offering lousy advice!

She grabbed the ice pack and angrily hurled it at Zoe’s head: "If you hadn’t given me bad advice back then, I wouldn’t have broken up with Harry! I wouldn’t have ended up in this miserable situation! It’s all your fault!"

Zoe’s forehead turned red from the ice pack, and tears welled up from the pain.

"It’s not my fault, sister! I was just offering a suggestion. You’ve always wanted a formal proposal ceremony, so I told Harry to kneel and propose to you in front of everyone at the engagement party. Isn’t that something every man should do?"

Cherry gritted her teeth in rage: "Harry never kneels!"

"How would I know that, sister? I’m not familiar with Young Master Hunter!"

Tears streamed down Zoe’s face, filled with grievance, yet she couldn’t resist provoking Cherry: "But I heard he knelt when proposing to Isabella. No one forced him..."

"Shut up!"

Cherry raised her hand and slapped Zoe!

She was present at the time; how could she not know!

"Harry only did it to spite me, to humiliate me, giving Isabella that privilege!"

Zoe’s head tilted to one side from the slap, and she said no more.

Cherry was still deluding herself. Whether Harry truly liked Isabella was another matter, but it was undeniable that Harry never liked Cherry – that much was clear!

Look at Cherry, beaten black and blue, coughing up blood upon returning, showing how much Harry despised her.

Zoe herself was incompetent, and after Harry beat Cherry up, she couldn’t be happier, to the point she didn’t even mind getting slapped by Cherry now.
