Chapter 327. Equally matched.

Chapter 327: Chapter 327. Equally matched.

Several clashes reverberated throughout the swamp incessantly.

When one looked closer, streaks of azure, crimson and cerulean light could be seen engaged in fierce clashes.

Each clash caused the void to tremble, several cataclysmic shockwaves rippling outwards.

The three streaks of light materialised into Vesper, Zarek and Ethan.

Vesper held the edge of his gigantic borne fishing rod, pulsing with malevolence.

He launched the fishing rod towards Zarek with all his might.

Zarek knew of this attack of Vesper — Blood Drain.

The fishing rod would serve as some sort of conduit or something similar to a syringe.

It would drain the blood of its prey if the hook of the blood fishing rod managed to pierce into the flesh of the opponent.

After the blood of the opponent is drained by the fishing rod, one would realise that the opponent will grow considerably weak.

After that, Vesper would temporarily gain tremendous strength above his original strength — something that would be very detrimental to his weakened opponent.

In a battle amongst awakeners, seconds could be all it took to end someone.

This was why Vesper was probably hailed as the strongest councillor of the student council.

The special use of the blood affinity he had, was literally something that was a cheat.

One had to be on guard constantly against his attacks because a single attack landed could be all it meant for him to defeat you.

As the attack was closing in on Zarek, lightning flickered to life around him, condensing into a dense shield around him.

Boom!!!

The shield and the blood fishing rod finally made contact.

However, the lighting shield refused to break. It stood firm against Vesper’s attack.

Czrrrrr!!

The lightning from the shield penetrated through the blood fishing rod of Vesper.

However, the two attacks refused to give in to the other.

Both of the attacks crashed into the other several times before they destroyed the other.

This occurrence repeated itself several times.

Vesper gnashed his teeth inwardly in frustration.

Zarek was equally matched against him in power.

The only chance he had against this guy was the supreme stage ascendant level lifeforms that he had brought.

However, they were currently being obstructed by a large number of obsidian creatures, who would occasionally self detonate, causing cataclysmic explosions which would ripple outwards.

After that, the obsidian creatures will reappear and repeat the same thing again.

Although they were currently unable to cause considerable harm to the supreme stage ascendant level lifeforms of Vesper Locke, they were able to obstruct their movements, vision and battle flow, each time the explosions occurred.

Vesper knew they had been summoned by Kailen Darkhaven, who was most likely hiding in plain sight, but strangely could not be seen.

This made him more frustrated than ever. But he had to focus on surviving first and getting rid of these two, then he could think of how to find Kailen Darkhaven.

" I cannot kill them as they are too strong for me to handle, but I can obstruct their battle patterns and teamwork

with my shadow creatures to buy you both enough time to get rid of him. It seems he’s been hiding his actual strength. This guy is a rank 5 supreme stage ascendant level lifeform instead of a rank 3 supreme stage ascendant level lifeform."

Kailen’s voice reverberated in the minds of Ethan and Zarek.

The duo nodded in agreement, focusing on dealing damage to Vesper.

Zarek gnashed his teeth in frustration, this Vesper Locke was equally matched to him in power.

Had he been weaker, getting rid of him would have been easier, but Zarek was also a rank 5 supreme stage ascendant level lifeform, so it had become difficult to get rid of Vesper.

Had the shadow creatures of Kailen Darkhaven not assisted them in the battle by obstructing the movements and visibility of Vesper’s allies, the fight would have ended terribly for Zarek and Ethan.

Several tendrils of blood arrows materialised from Vesper, then headed towards Ethan.

Clannnng!!!

Ethan met those attacks by creating several cerulean like water arrows that met the blood arrows in the air.

Naturally, the blood arrows seemed to penetrate Ethan’s own, as Vesper was stronger than him.

Ethan was a rank 1 supreme stage ascendant level lifeform after all, whereas Vesper was a rank 5 supreme stage ascendant level lifeform after all.

Lightning snaked around Zarek’s figure as his muscles tensed.

The lightning flickered around his crossbow.

When that happened, he launched an arrow towards Vesper’s attack aimed at Ethan.

The arrow however whizzed through the air with profound speed after being reinforced with Zarek’s lightning.

The arrow bore lightning streams shaking and crackling around it with sheer intensity.

In the span of a moment, it had arrived before Vesper’s blood arrows — which were a moment ago headed towards Ethan.

Clannnng!

The blood arrows and the arrows of thunder clashed for a few moments, engaged in a brawl with each other.

Then, a moment later, the blood arrows and both the arrows simply tethered into oblivion.

" It can’t go on like this "

Gnashing his teeth in frustration, Vesper’s gaze lingered on some of the supreme stage ascendant level lifeform Vimodial contractors he had brought with him.

His figure flickered and he disappeared from the current location.

Managing to arrive at the back of a Vimodial contractor, he managed to swiftly insert the rod in the back of the fellow, and absorbed the fellow’s blood at a rapid pace.

His strength seemed to have soared considerably for a short moment of time after he did that.

Meanwhile, the Vimodial contractor he did that to, became very weak.

The fellow was feeling betrayed, that he had been used in such a way.

However, no one cared about him.

Kailen sighed on seeing how the battle was progressing.

He has been observing everything from the eyes of his shadow creatures on the battlefield. He could see everything from multiple angles.

At this point, the battle was reaching its final stages since Vesper had found a way to increase his strength temporarily.

Zarek would have to go all out, and Ethan would only be a burden.

" Ethan, you’d have to sit this one out, else you will only be a burden to Zarek. He has to go all out, else this Vesper Locke won’t be defeated. Don’t worry, I’ll let you have a taste of revenge for what he did to your girlfriend before he dies."

Ethan quickly nodded, turned to look at Zarek, who had also heard the thought transmission and nodded.

Quickly, he used some sort of rune inscribed artifact to disappear from the battlefield, leaving Zarek to face Vesper alone.

" I guess I have no choice but to go all out " Zarek sighed, staring at the crazed Vesper, swinging his fishing hook around and absorbing the blood of several of his allies to increase his strength temporarily.

He stopped, then turned to look at Zarek.

Zarek’s gaze also bore heavily on him.

The crossbow in his hand was replaced by a long sword flickering with lightning.

Then Zarek muttered.

" Insurgence "
