Chapter 2394: Power Bond Divine Ability.
After they became legendary slavers, they gained the Power Bond divine ability. This is a powerful divine ability useful for enslaving people and gaining power from them.
Not only does this divine ability make Legion excited, but it has come at a good time because enslaving other godclads will become more and more difficult from here on out.
The difficulty in enslaving a legend lies entirely because of their state of existence. The special state of existence of legends makes them capable of liberating their divine form. This means that they aren’t exactly humans anymore.
The body of legends has changed so much that it is mostly divine flesh. This divine flesh forms a protective cocoon around the souls of legends.
This protective cocoon is what manifests as their divine form and grants them great power. But even in the dormant state, the cocoon of divine flesh protects them and rejects everything that is not part of their body.
The protection of the cocoon of divine flesh is why legends can’t use the divine artifacts. It is also why legends can’t use the divine abilities of others’ pathways. The cocoon of one pathway rejects everything else.
So in order to enslave any legend, one must first sever the connection between their divine flesh and their souls. This process can only be done by exhausting their spiritual energy and disabling their divine flesh.
The Imprison divine ability can do these two things. With it, slavers can drain the spiritual energy of legends and disable their divine flesh. But even this won’t be enough to enslave and control stronger godclads.
Demigods, for instance, can be enslaved, but they can’t be controlled because what a slaver can control is their main soul, where their consciousness resides, not the divine flesh in their body.
At the level of demigods, their divine flesh gains sentience and has to be subdued. A slaver will have to undergo this same problem too. If they don’t manage to subdue the divine flesh of their demigod slaves, the slave will still lose control and rebel.
After all, what the slaver enslaved is the demigod, not their divine flesh. If they don’t also enslave their divine flesh, then what they will get for their hard work is a useless demigod that refuses to listen to them.
This problem was encountered by the ancestor of the pathway of slavery. The solution that the ancestor came up with was to enslave divine flesh too. This solution is essentially what the Power Bond divine ability is.
The Power Bond divine ability is like the Domain divine ability of nobles. It enhances the power of the mark of bondage and makes it capable of controlling divine flesh.
It is just like how the Life Siphon divine ability allows the Mark of Bondage to siphon life energy and spiritual energy from slaves and how the Life Bond divine ability allows the Mark of Bondage to bind the life of a slave and also bestow them with the pathway of the slave.
Just like how those two divine abilities have a main effect and a side effect, the Power Bond divine ability also has a main effect and a side effect.
The Life Siphon divine ability can supply the slaver with spiritual energy, but it can also be used to kill a slave by draining them completely.
The ability of the Life Bond divine ability to grant the pathway of the slave while also ensuring that the slave will die once the slaver dies is also an example of this.
In the case of the Power Bond divine ability, its main ability is to enslave divine flesh. But the side effect, and probably the most appreciated effect, is the ability to use the divine ability of the enslaved divine flesh.
For many slavers, the ability to use the divine abilities of their slaves is the most important effect of the Power Bond divine ability. But this effect still has to be considered a side effect because without first enslaving a divine flesh, slavers won’t be able to gain control of the divine ability.
This ability to gain the divine abilities of other pathways is similar to the rank 4 Stealing Abilities divine ability of thieves. But the Power Bond divine ability supersedes the Stealing Ability divine ability.
The Power Bond divine is superior because while thieves can’t steal the Stealing Abilities divine ability of other thieves, slavers can use their Power Bond divine ability to gain the power of the Stealing Ability divine ability and then use it to steal many other divine abilities.
But if thieves want to steal the Power Bond divine ability, they must also steal the Mark of Bondage divine ability, make sure not to lose any one of them, and use both of them at once.
The latter is impossible for thieves to do because thieves can’t use two divine abilities that they stole at the same time. Thieves can steal up to six divine abilities, but they can’t use all six at once.
This inability to use more than one stolen divine ability means that they won’t be able to use the Power Bond and Mark of Bond divine abilities at the same time. So even if a thief steals these two divine abilities, they won’t be able to use them like a slave master can.
To be fair, the Power Bond divine ability can also only use one divine ability at a time. But it is still superior than the Steal Divine Abilities divine ability because the Power Bond divine ability will have the option to choose any divine ability in a slave and this option will remain even if the controlled divine ability is replaced.
On the other hand, a thief will lose the divine ability they are controlling forever once they lose it. They will need to find the target again and touch them to steal their divine ability again.
Another thing that makes the Power Bondage divine ability superior is that the mastery of the divine abilities gained from it is dependent on the Power Bondage divine ability.
For thieves, on the other hand, the divine ability is only temporarily borrowed from its original owner. So the mastery of stolen divine abilities is entirely dependent on the mastery of the original owners of the divine abilities.
This kind of power doesn’t come for free, though. Slavers will need to use one Mark of Bondage for each divine flesh.
So the Mark of Bondage that used to be enough to enslave an entire person can now only be used to enslave one divine flesh and gain its divine ability.
