Chapter 194: Blurry box

Chapter 194: Blurry box

Suddenly, Vacuse began stiffening.

Whispered Blade was trying to convince him to take him to the Great Dungeon, thereby creating the illusion to Vacuse and everyone else that his real aim was the Dungeon.

But what if that was just what he wanted Vacuse and everyone else to think?

Whispered Blade was from the Eastern Region, and he was a very powerful Independent Soulbearer.

The same Eastern Region that Moonblame was supposed to be delivered to.

If Vacuse entered the Great Dungeon, his men that were left behind would be protecting the Morrowling. What better way to take action than through Whispered Blade, who would have joined the ranks of his men?

Ah.

Fuck it.

None of it showed on his face though as he looked at Whispered Blade. "You want to fight them for a place? You should have come sooner. Right now, I can’t allow any fight between my men. Not when I need them to be in top health when we enter the Dungeon."

Whispered Blade winced. "Ah! Is there nothing you can really do? Maybe do a small competition for me to participate in? Something like that? I really want to go with you."

Vacuse’s answer was a smile.

In the end, Whispered Blade had to leave since there was nothing that could be done.

Vacuse finally had the afternoon snacks that he wanted, and then he called the whole team, the group that would be clearing the Dungeon. The meeting was so everyone could know each other and get used to the team.

The same meeting had been held for the last three days. After all, when they entered the Great Dungeon, they might have to depend on each other to survive.

They did all that until evening, when Vacuse called Captain Amros to give him a new set of instructions. "I want you to form a team that will take Moonblame to Kragthar for his protection. They can take the flying carriage immediately."

The order came so late in the evening, and yet Captain Amros already gathered the men that he needed, and without fanfare, Moonblame was taken to the carriage.

☆☆▪︎▪︎☆☆

Late that night, with the moon still not showing itself yet, a carriage rose from the castle with gusts of wind and took to the air.

It turned into a streak of light and then shot away.

The carriage was so fast that even most Soulbearers of the third stage and below would have struggled to keep it in their sight. But there was one man running directly below the carriage, keeping up with it.

It was as if the man was made of wind as he shot over the mostly deserted streets of Burnis City, flying over buildings as if his body was not held back by the laws of gravity.

A bitter smile was on his face, and his hand reached into his robe, fishing out an artifact. "So I will have to use this after all. I can’t let that carriage leave this city, or else I won’t be able to catch up to it again."

Unless he had a ship of his own.

Even now, the carriage was accelerating faster, blurring forward with a speed that made the air itself whine.

Without hesitation, he thrust the artifact he was holding up. It was shaped like a key, but at the end was a small chain that was then fitted to a bell.

Wrang! Wrang! Wrang!

The artifact lit up, and the bell began to sound.

At first, when Whispered Blade had not activated the artifact, there was nothing suspicious about it. But now, a heavy pressure followed the sound of the bell. It was the feeling of suppression, as if the artifact was looking to suppress everything.

The pressure it radiated was so astonishing that it cleared the clouds in the sky and made the moon shine brighter. Every Soulbearer in Burnis City stiffened and turned their attention toward the commotion, their eyes wide with surprise.

Up above, Iron Knight flew out of the golden ship, and his face hardened as he watched the commotion. "What is this?"

But then he recognized Whispered Blade, and thus he sat back to watch. After all, Whispered Blade was Vacuse’s subordinate. There was no reason to interfere.

The carriage’s speed suddenly dropped as the bell began to ring. A heavy feeling settled on it, and the space around it grew heavy and hard.

The next moment, a blurry box of space formed around the carriage, closing rapidly, and then, before it finished closing, Whispered Blade entered in a whirlwind of cutting winds.

"Ah! I nearly didn’t make it!" Whispered Blade said as he hovered in the air, carried by the winds that surrounded him.

The carriage hung in the middle of the blurry shield, making futile attempts to break free.

"Enough. Hand the Morrowling over, and I will not have to kill you. Well, you have up to five minutes to do that."

At the corner of the blurry box, a new rift was opening, but it was slow and looked as if it would take a lot of time to complete.

And then, from the carriage, someone raised their head.

It was Captain Amros, and he watched Whispered Blade with an expressionless face. "Whispered Blade."

Whispered Blade was shocked.

But it did not show clearly in the way he quickly hid it. "Captain Amros? What are you doing here?"

Indeed, the Captain was not part of the team that was to take Moonblame away. In fact, neither was Vacuse, and yet he was standing there as well with a displeased look on his face.

Whispered Blade stiffened when he saw that the group he had seen with his own eyes escorting the Morrowling were not actually the ones in the carriage.

It seemed like his scheme was not as subtle as he thought.

And yet his face was still calm. "There’s Captain Amros. The Dragon heir. Oh! Even Kagerou is here, and then eight more Soulbearers? Wow. This is a full force. Whatever shall I do?"
