Chapter 195: blurry box I

Chapter 195: blurry box I

Vacuse watched Whispered Blade with a very displeasured look on his face. He really did not like how things were shaping up to be.

He and the others were cloaked by an illusion created by Kagerou to fool Whispered Blade that it was indeed the Morrowling that entered the carriage with his men.

When he put up the plan to catch Whispered Blade, he wanted to participate in it to give himself extra warning for the next day. Who would have thought that the bastard had something like the Artifact to create a special space to lock the carriage in?

That threw a lot into their plan.

"Whispered Blade," Vacuse said again, his displeasure leaking into his voice. "What is the meaning of this?"

Whispered Blade blinked, then he smiled. "Well, you see, I really am from the Eastern Region and an independent. I mean, I’m still independent if I was still being backed by the Grand Duke, right? Maybe not, but who cares?"

"I don’t," Vacuse said flatly and jumped on top of the carriage. "What I care about is the Artifact you are holding. What is this strange shield?"

What worried Vacuse was the fact that he could not sense anyone outside the box. It seemed as if everything outside of the box had been completely cut off.

"Oh! This is an Artifact given personally by the Grand Duke. What’s its name again? Anyway, it can create a spatial box that can’t be broken from the outside.

"But really, you don’t have the Morrowling hiding in that carriage, do you? Everything here is set up for the elaborate scheme to get him back. It would be really disappointing if I don’t get him back."

Vacuse narrowed his eyes. "You said we have five minutes. How much now? Four? I’m guessing it’s till that portal to the side fully opens."

Whispered Blade grimaced. "Well, the portal is the way I’m supposed to get the Morrowling out of here, and since he’s not here, I might as well give the chance to you, Lord Vacuse Vorrakyn. My employer has been dying to meet you."

Vacuse thought about it.

Then he shook his head. "I refuse."

Whispered Blade’s smile widened, and his hand went to the sword that hung around his neck. "Well, I think I have to refuse. I’m just going to keep you busy until the portal fully opens, alright?"

Vacuse’s eyes narrowed.

He did not want to meet anyone or anything that was going to come out of the portal. "The Artifact is still hanging around his neck. We will dispel the box before the portal fully opens."

Whispered Blade brought down his sword. "Oh, you really don’t want to do that. I am truly in the second stage, but my weapon is more than that. Really, I don’t want to turn you into pieces of meat before the portal opens!"

He brought down the sword and unsheathed it.

The sword would have been a normal sword if not for the screaming faces that were imprinted on the surface. And then... the faces began to howl!

Instantly the air charged. It seemed as if everything had now gained an edge, waiting to cut. Vacuse felt as if, should he breathe too fast, his lungs would be cut up.

His eyes narrowed. That Artifact in Whispered Blade’s hand was strong, stronger than a third stage but not quite fourth stage.

Things... were going to be really difficult.

With a portal to one corner and a dangerous sword to the other, Vacuse might actually find it difficult to maneuver his way out of this one.

Whispered Blade raised his sword and the air grew tighter. "Just stay put for the remaining three minutes. You and the Morrowling, Lord Vacuse, carry the same importance. My employer won’t be angry."

Vacuse sighed and smiled. "I’m going to kill you and take your sword for myself, Whispered Blade. That Artifact on your neck too."

Whispered Blade stared at him in shock. "Are you... insane? Do you think all of this is a joke? None of you can fight against this sword, and in two minutes, you will be gone. We all will be gone from this place."

Vacuse smiled. "I have two minutes to kill in two minutes, eh. Talk about pressure."

Then he spoke to his warriors. "All of you get into the carriage. I will handle this."

Those who had followed Vacuse for a long time, Kagerou and for the most part Amros, knew that he was not the type to joke around with his life on the line.

They also knew the voice he used when he was dead serious.

So Captain Amros gestured, and the only one remaining atop the carriage was Vacuse Vorrakyn, the Dragon heir.

And for some reason, Whispered Blade felt a chill as he looked at him standing so motionless. In fact, he felt as if something was wrong, but he couldn’t put his hand on it.

His hand tightened on his sword. "What..."

The next moment, Vacuse made his move.

The entire box suddenly turned black. Not darkness. This type of dark was the type of dark that couldn’t be felt and yet settled on the mind like the weight of a monstrous coiled serpent.

It was not true Void. Even Vacuse could not yet call something like that. Instead, it was simply the energy in his Soul space that he ejected out in one swift motion.

And that was also one of the reasons that Whispered Blade could still feel a little. He could sense his surroundings, but only in a twisted kind of way, because by the time he was beginning to raise his sword...

His right hand had already been cut.

What followed next was a series of shouting and screaming, bone-chilling ones that were suddenly cut short. And then the blurry box broke away.

When the blurry box broke, those outside, Vacuse’s warriors who had been trying to break the box, flinched away as some kind of darkness unfurled, spreading in the night air so deep that the moonlight failed to cut through.
