“Do you want to drive me away that badly?”
Dongfang Mei looked at Jiang Yi, her expression tinged with sadness.
Jiang Yi remained silent. He stood up and walked towards the exit of the private room.
Dongfang Mei picked up her handbag and followed Jiang Yi. She then said, “I just received news that the taxi driver’s family has been found. The people I sent are preparing to relocate them to a safe place abroad.”
“Is that true?” Jiang Yi asked.
“Of course it’s true. Why would I lie to you?” Dongfang Mei replied.
Jiang Yi took a deep breath. Finally, there was some progress.
Upon returning to the villa, Jiang Yi went straight to the warehouse.
The taxi driver had been staying in the warehouse during this time, with servants bringing him his meals.
“Your family will be sent abroad soon! Now you can tell me where the killer organization’s stronghold is,” Jiang Yi said, his sharp gaze fixed on the taxi driver.
“I can’t tell you yet. I must ensure my family is safely relocated abroad before I can tell you,” the taxi driver said, frowning.
“I don’t have that much patience.”
Jiang Yi said calmly, “You must tell me now, or our deal is off.”
The taxi driver began to hesitate.
He knew very well that the killer organization must have become suspicious. If his family were left unprotected, they would surely perish.
At this point, he had no leverage left to negotiate with Jiang Yi.
His only option was to tell Jiang Yi the truth.
“If you’re unwilling to speak, then forget it!”
After saying this to the taxi driver, Jiang Yi turned his gaze to Dongfang Mei and said, “This matter ends here. Tell those you sent to stop protecting anyone.”
“Okay!”
Dongfang Mei took out her phone and began to make a call.
Dongfang Mei knew that Jiang Yi was deliberately trying to scare the taxi driver.
“Wait…”
The taxi driver quickly spoke up, “I can tell you everything I know, but you must guarantee the safety of my family.”
“Don’t worry, I, Jiang Yi, keep my word,” Jiang Yi said to the taxi driver.
“The killer organization I belong to is called Tian Sha. We specialize in taking money to kill people. Every killer is rigorously trained and lives a normal life. Only when there’s a contract to kill do we take action,” the taxi driver explained.
“How much do you know about this killer organization?” Jiang Yi asked.
“I don’t know very much!”
The taxi driver replied, “Before an operation, members of this organization don’t know each other. A few hours before the mission, the organization arranges for us to be assembled, and the assassination is planned.”
The taxi driver continued, “Except for me, all the killers sent to assassinate Miss Dongfang perished. I am the only one left alive.”
“Where is the stronghold of this killer organization?” Jiang Yi asked, his brow furrowed.
“I don’t know!”
The taxi driver shook his head. “We are the weakest killers in the organization. The organization never lets us know too much.”
Jiang Yi took a deep breath.
A surge of anger rose from his feet to the top of his head.
He had been tricked by this taxi driver.
After all this effort, the taxi driver actually didn’t know the location of the killer organization’s stronghold.
Seeing Jiang Yi’s expression, the taxi driver showed fear.
“I know another secret, and this secret can definitely help you,” the taxi driver said quickly.
“What secret?” Jiang Yi stared at the taxi driver.
“The people sent to Jiang City by the organization are hiding at Jiang City First Hospital.”
The taxi driver said, “When she gathered us that day, I accidentally saw her work ID in her pocket. I couldn’t see it very clearly, but I could infer that it was a work ID from Jiang City First Hospital. Also, she is a woman, around twenty-four years old.”
Hearing this, Jiang Yi breathed a sigh of relief. At last, there was another clue!
The female killer the taxi driver mentioned was an insider of the killer organization. If they could capture her, finding the organization’s stronghold would be easy.
The female killer was much more useful than this taxi driver.
“Your family will be sent to a safe place abroad, but you will remain here until I find that female killer,” Jiang Yi said to the taxi driver before leaving the warehouse.
“What are your plans next?” Dongfang Mei asked Jiang Yi with interest.
“I have no idea about the female killer’s identity. If I go directly to Jiang City First Hospital to look for her, I’m afraid she’ll notice and escape. That’s why I plan to find a job at Jiang City First Hospital so I can investigate legitimately,” Jiang Yi said with a smile, then left the villa directly.
An hour later, Jiang Yi arrived at the entrance of Jiang City First Hospital.
Jiang City First Hospital was a private hospital, the best and most expensive hospital in Jiang City. Only the wealthy could afford to be treated here.
The poor simply could not afford the exorbitant medical fees.
Jiang Yi entered the lobby and approached the counter.
“Hello, excuse me, is your hospital still hiring doctors? I’m here to apply for a doctor position,” Jiang Yi said.
“You’ve come at the right time. We are indeed recruiting a traditional Chinese medicine doctor today,” the nurse said with a smile.
The nurse then led Jiang Yi to the recruitment room next to the lobby.
The recruitment room was filled with people, all men over fifty.
After the nurse brought Jiang Yi into the recruitment room, she handed him a resume form and then left.
Jiang Yi only filled in two fields: name and age.
He left the other fields blank.
Jiang Yi’s medical skills were not learned in school; he had no certificates and had never worked in a large hospital.
A moment later, a middle-aged man wearing glasses walked in.
“Let me introduce myself. I am Chen Ping, the head of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Acupuncture Department. You are all acupuncture masters, top figures in the acupuncture community of Jiang City. However, our hospital is only hiring one acupuncturist. To ensure fairness, everyone will demonstrate their acupuncture skills later, and I will select one top acupuncture master from among you,” the middle-aged man said.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
As Chen Ping was about to speak, he inadvertently saw Jiang Yi.
Chen Ping was first taken aback, then his brow furrowed.
“Did you come to the wrong place? This is the recruitment room for acupuncture masters. Please leave immediately,” Chen Ping said.
“I haven’t come to the wrong place. I’m here to apply for the acupuncturist position,” Jiang Yi said with a slight smile. “I’ve seen the recruitment form. It states that age and background are irrelevant; only skill matters.”
