Fan Yan blinked, smiling. "My surname is Fan, first name Yan, the 'yan' from seriousness. What were you thinking?"
"Fan Yan, fán yǎn..." Mu Anxiao repeated his name with a smile playing on his lips before nodding expressionlessly. "Alright, I understand."
"Aren't you going to apologize?" Fan Yan pressed.
"Why should I apologize to you?" Mu Anxiao asked coldly.
"You spoke my name so wrongly, you..."
"Everyone mishears things sometimes, haven't you?" Mu Anxiao interrupted.
Fan Yan found Mu Anxiao's words reasonable and nodded. "Fine, I forgive you."
"Where is Zhang Yan?" Mu Anxiao abruptly changed the subject.
Fan Yan was accustomed to Mu Anxiao's personality.
"I don't know what's gotten into your grandfather. After he came back, he's just been admiring himself in his room, asking us if he's handsome. That's not all, he keeps bragging about how charming he was when he was young and how many girls chased him. Honestly," Fan Yan shivered with exasperation, "he's too narcissistic."
Mu Anxiao remained expressionless. "I understand." He then walked past Fan Yan towards the small courtyard.
Fan Yan frowned, turning to look at Mu Anxiao's retreating back, and pouted. "He's just like his grandfather. He'll talk to you when he's happy, and give you a cold shoulder when he's not. So frustrating."
Zhang Yan's room...
"I might as well change back," Zhang Yan said, sitting at the table and looking at his reflection in the mirror, smacking his lips. "I'm so tired of this old face."
At the same time, Mu Anxiao stopped and looked through the window screen at Zhang Yan who was engrossed in looking at himself in the mirror. "You should probably just forget it."
Hearing the voice, Zhang Yan calmly looked towards Mu Anxiao outside the window and said, "Come in and talk."
Mu Anxiao glanced around, then moved to push open Zhang Yan's door and walked in. He then surveyed the simply decorated interior. "Why is your place so clean? And the floor is white."
"This is a company-assigned apartment. Yours is a dormitory, so of course the environment is different," Zhang Yan said, standing up from the table.
"I don't understand what you're talking about," Mu Anxiao said, looking at the clean floor and hesitant to step.
"You can come in," Zhang Yan said, turning and walking to the sofa to sit down.
Mu Anxiao lowered his gaze. "No, it's too clean here. My shoes are very dirty."
"It's fine, you can clean it up for me later," Zhang Yan beckoned Mu Anxiao.
"Okay," Mu Anxiao replied, lifting his foot and walking step by step to stand before Zhang Yan.
"Sit down," Zhang Yan patted the sofa.
Mu Anxiao glanced at Zhang Yan's hand and said without moving, "I met Feng Qishi."
"You went to his school?" Zhang Yan asked, surprised.
"Yes, it's all your fault," Mu Anxiao pointed to the name tag Zhang Yan had magically sewn onto his clothes. "He knows my name now."
"What's the big deal about that?" Zhang Yan spread his hands.
"My purpose for coming was to capture the wolf demon and leave. But now..." Mu Anxiao's eyes darkened. "He's already suspicious of my identity and even said... he wants his biology teacher to study me."
"The biology teacher to study you?" Zhang Yan said, and couldn't help but laugh. "Haha, don't listen to his nonsense. That biology teacher doesn't have time to study you; he's busy enough as it is."
"I went out today and saw the wolf demon, and then...."
Mu Anxiao recounted the entire story to Zhang Yan, but Zhang Yan's expression remained unchanged. Mu Anxiao stood there, looking at Zhang Yan in confusion and asking, "Why aren't you reacting at all?"
