Uncle Chen rubbed the bridge of his nose and said, "You've really stumped me with that statement."
Mu Anxiao turned her head to look at Feng Qishi. "You're not acting right either."
"What's wrong with me?" Feng Qishi pointed to himself, bewildered.
Uncle Chen's expression underwent a drastic change.
Mu Anxiao glanced at Uncle Chen's face, then back at Feng Qishi. "If you two say anything about my business, I'll go back and thoroughly investigate the shady dealings between you." With that, she left.
Feng Qishi and Uncle Chen were genuinely bewildered by Mu Anxiao's words. They exchanged glances, and Feng Qishi said, "She was deliberately saying that, wasn't she?"
"Yes," Uncle Chen turned to look at the open doorway. "Why should I be nervous?"
"That look in her eyes is really terrifying," Feng Qishi shook his head and asked, "By the way, where did you see her before?"
"To tell you the truth, I went out this morning, and not long after, a gust of cold wind blew. Then, a strange-looking fellow suddenly appeared, spoke a lot to me, and I fainted. When I woke up, I saw that girl. At first, I thought I'd watched too many ghost movies and was dreaming. But after hearing what you said," Uncle Chen looked around, "it seems we encountered almost the same thing."
"It seems that Mu Anxiao indeed has something shady going on. I strongly suspect now," Feng Qishi looked up at Uncle Chen and stated firmly, "that she is the monster who captured you, and the creature she put into her gourd is definitely her enemy."
"I didn't actually see the tusked... demon you mentioned." xxs
"I'll accompany you to find her after school."
"I'm actually not interested in this at all," Uncle Chen gave a wry smile.
Feng Qishi smiled. "It's settled then. I'm going to class." With that, he stood up and brushed past Uncle Chen as they left the infirmary.
Uncle Chen swallowed, his throat bobbing, his heart screaming a hundred refusals to Feng Qishi's request.
Meanwhile, Mu Anxiao, having gotten lost, circled back to the corridor of the infirmary. Feng Qishi, who had just left, happened to see Mu Anxiao stop in the corridor and deliberately asked, "Mu Anxiao, is that you?"
Upon hearing this, Mu Anxiao's body visibly trembled. She then glanced sideways and walked rapidly towards the front.
Feng Qishi's lips curled into a smile. Just as he was about to step forward, the class bell rang.
Mu Anxiao was startled by the bell, but her pace did not slow.
Feng Qishi, disregarding the fact that class was about to start, took two steps forward, only to be blocked by the male homeroom teacher. "Feng Qishi, what are you doing?"
"Teacher," Feng Qishi stopped and smiled awkwardly. "I'm exercising."
"Why aren't you lying down properly in the infirmary?" the male homeroom teacher asked.
Feng Qishi glanced at the disappearing figure of Mu Anxiao behind the male homeroom teacher and sighed. "Teacher, there's no teacher in the infirmary, so naturally, no one can treat me. I might as well go back to class and study."
"You kid, all day long you only think about studying," the male homeroom teacher said with a gratified smile. "You should take care of your health too, shouldn't you?"
"You're right, Teacher," Feng Qishi forced a smile.
The male homeroom teacher paused and then suddenly asked, "By the way, did you take your medicine this morning?"
Feng Qishi continued to smile. "Oh, I was on the bus when I came. My mom made me take it, so don't worry."
"All right then, let's go back to the classroom." The male homeroom teacher patted Feng Qishi on the shoulder.
