“I understand you, you are a pitiful man,” the rattan spirit said in a low voice.
“You’re the pitiful one,” Shi Yi glared at the rattan spirit and turned his back.
Immediately, the rattan spirit floated in front of Shi Yi again and said, “Let me tell you a secret, that good-for-nothing is quite cunning. Do you know why she had the green-clothed one set up a celestial barrier in the room today?”
“Why?”
“Because you are a demon. She captured a full two hundred and fifty demon souls, none of whom had done any evil. There were even those like you among them. Her rejection of you like this is deliberate, it’s all a conspiracy,” the rattan spirit said earnestly.
Shi Yi shook his head, “Impossible.”
“Impossible?” the rattan spirit laughed. “Nothing is impossible. Let me tell you, don’t be fooled by that good-for-nothing’s foolish appearance. She actually understands everything clearly. If she had captured you, and then added those rabbit spirits, she could have obtained spiritual energy. This is all a gift from heaven to her. She is using you, deliberately stringing you along. Can’t you see this?”
“She didn’t agree to me, don’t talk nonsense,” Shi Yi said, half-believing, half-doubting, but he still chose to believe Mu Anxiao.
“If you go back, she will definitely apologize to you and say something that makes you feel comfortable. After that, she will plan everything with you. Be careful. If anything happens, snap your fingers and I’ll appear.” With that, the rattan spirit disappeared.
Shi Yi let out a soft hum.
Mu Anxiao finished her wontons. Her spirit soul looked at Mu Anxiao’s astonishing appetite in surprise and asked, “Aren’t you full?”
“Not really,” Mu Anxiao said, pointing to Feng Qishi’s bowl, “Can you finish it?”
“You want to eat my food too?” Feng Qishi asked, surprised.
“I’m not full,” Mu Anxiao said, patting her stomach.
“No,” Feng Qishi said, swallowing the last wonton.
“Fine, if you won’t give it,” Mu Anxiao pouted, turned her head, and looked at the sugar cake stall across the way, saying, “I want to eat something sweet.”
“Do you have money?” Feng Qishi retorted.
Mu Anxiao withdrew her gaze from the stall and looked back at Feng Qishi, “I don’t. Don’t you?”
“You really want to eat it,” Feng Qishi said, staring at Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao nodded.
“Alright, I’ll satisfy you.” As he spoke, Feng Qishi was about to get up when Shi Yi appeared in front of the stall.
Feng Qishi looked at Shi Yi’s back in surprise and said, “He heard.”
“You go,” Mu Anxiao pointed at Feng Qishi.
Feng Qishi nodded. Just as he stood up, Shi Yi walked over with the wrapped sugar cakes.
“There’s no other way,” Feng Qishi said, and sat down again.
Shi Yi walked to the table and said, “I just heard you wanted to eat, have some.” As he spoke, he placed the sugar cakes in front of Mu Anxiao.
Mu Anxiao looked up at Shi Yi and asked, “Aren’t you angry anymore?”
“I was a little at first, but on second thought, it’s nothing,” Shi Yi shrugged.
“Your thick skin is truly remarkable,” Mu Anxiao said, picking up the sugar cakes unceremoniously, “I’m eating them.”
Seeing that Mu Anxiao showed no sign of apology, Shi Yi breathed a sigh of relief, “Eat up.”
Feng Qishi looked at Shi Yi and asked, “Why didn’t you buy me any?”
“You want to eat too?” Shi Yi pointed at Feng Qishi.
Feng Qishi nodded.
“Okay, I’ll go buy some for you,” Shi Yi readily agreed and turned to walk across the way.
Mu Anxiao said as she ate, “See, we still need to give him a wake-up call.”
“Although I strongly disagree with the way you speak, but… I can’t refute you,” Feng Qishi said, smiling wryly.
The spirit soul looked at Mu Anxiao and Feng Qishi’s expressions after taking advantage and said, “You two are truly despicable.”
“You’re the despicable one,” they said in unison.
The spirit soul pouted and turned its face away.
In a private room of a restaurant next to the juggling performance, the green-clothed man placed a piece of leafy vegetable into Hong Yan’s bowl and said, “Try it, how does it taste?”
Hong Yan did not know how to use chopsticks, so she directly grabbed the leafy vegetable with her hand and put it into her mouth.
The green-clothed man smiled as he watched Hong Yan eat the vegetable and said, “Like this.” He picked up the chopsticks.
Hong Yan stared at the green-clothed man’s hands holding the chopsticks and said, “I don’t know how.”
“If you don’t know, you must learn,” the green-clothed man said gently.
Hong Yan pursed her lips, picked up the chopsticks, and asked, “Is it like this?”
“You try,” the green-clothed man raised his eyebrows.
“Okay.” Hong Yan reluctantly agreed, then poked the chopsticks into the plate, but couldn’t pick up a single leafy vegetable for a long time.
The green-clothed man rested his chin on his hand and watched Hong Yan, saying, “Forget it, I’ll put the vegetables into your bowl, you eat them with a spoon, and I’ll teach you slowly later.”
“Okay,” Hong Yan nodded, pointing to the spoon in the bowl, “This is a spoon.”
“Yes,” the green-clothed man nodded, picked up the chopsticks again, and put all the edible vegetables into her bowl.
“It’s about to begin,” Hong Yan glanced out the window at the juggling troupe below and said.
“Yes, eat first,” the green-clothed man smiled.
“Okay,” Hong Yan responded happily, then lowered her head and began to eat.
On the other side, Mu Anxiao finished the sugar cakes, and her expression suddenly stiffened. She said, “Feng Qishi, did you feel it?”
“Feel what?” Feng Qishi didn’t react immediately.
“I feel like the rattan spirit is nearby,” Mu Anxiao said with a serious expression.
“Rattan spirit?” Feng Qishi repeated, looking around, “No, you must be…” He stopped short.
“What’s wrong?” Shi Yi asked, looking at Feng Qishi, who had suddenly stopped speaking, with a guilty expression.
Feng Qishi lowered his eyes, staring at the bowl in front of him, and said, “There’s demonic energy.”
“Are you talking about me?” Shi Yi pointed to himself.
“Not you,” Feng Qishi said, stood up and looked ahead, his eyes widening, “The demonic energy of a rabbit spirit.”
“The rabbit spirits are here?” Mu Anxiao stood up abruptly and asked.
The spirit soul stood up and looked at Feng Qishi opposite with a worried expression, asking, “How many rabbit spirits are there?”
“One,” Feng Qishi replied, pointing at the spirit soul, “Why don’t you try to sense it too? You’re good at this, after all.”
“You’re right, but I…”
“Stop the nonsense and hurry up,” Feng Qishi urged.
The spirit soul nodded with a reluctant expression, “Alright.” He then closed his eyes slightly, sniffed the surrounding air with his nose, opened his eyes, and said, “They are looking for the maiden of immortal destiny here.”
“Maiden of immortal destiny?” Mu Anxiao asked.
The spirit soul nodded, “Yes, they are looking for the maiden of immortal destiny.”
“What do they want with the maiden of immortal destiny?” Mu Anxiao frowned.
Shi Yi shook his head.
Feng Qishi thought for a moment and said, “They are demons now. For them to become true demons, they must utilize the soul essence of the maiden of immortal destiny to succeed.”
“Soul essence again,” Mu Anxiao’s eyes widened.
Shi Yi said, “Yes, if that’s the case, we must catch those rabbit spirits who are out on a mission.”
