Chapter 356: The Battle of Radagan [End]
All across Radagan, the battle between the Legion and the Radagan Soldiers was starting to become more bloody with each passing moment! The Radagan Soldiers were made up of prideful dragonborn who saw battle as their only way to display their strength and prove their superiority, so there was no way any of them was going to retreat from the fight! Even when they saw the Legion getting stronger and they saw their own comrades being resurrected to fight against them, they still stayed and fought to the very last man! On the other side of the battle was Jason’s Legion, who didn’t fear death at all and would continue to attack until they killed everything in front of them! The death toll in the battle had increased dangerously, with the number of dead Radagan Soldiers reaching above the three thousand mark, and the number of dead Legion members crossing the one thousand mark! But as time passed, it was obvious that more and more of Jason’s subordinates were getting killed. The only reason why the number of dead Radagan Soldiers was so much higher was that the stronger members of Jason’s Legion were taking care of the larger number of Radagan Soldiers. But the weaker members of the Legion weren’t able to put up a good fight against the dragons, so they were getting killed much faster!
In the main city of Radagan, Azrael was in the middle of a bloody battle with thousands of soldiers flying all around him! Azrael had summoned many of his Necrotic creatures, and he was using them to tear through the horde of soldiers. Whenever he found a space in the army, he would send out a massive bolt of lightning that killed dozens of people at once! Beside Azrael, Jaraht and the other dead Radagan Soldiers were going up against their former comrades! Jaraht was a wrecking ball of destruction that no one could stand up against! He coated his hands in fire and charged through the horde of enemies like they didn’t exist, and he was linking up with his dragon to fly up and reach the dragons that were raining fire down on them from above! The soldiers had all been seriously weakened by Azrael’s runes, so almost none of them could stand a chance against the fighters!
From the distance, Azrael spotted a new wave of enemies coming in their direction, and he gripped his staff tighter as he prepared for another wave of attacks, but before he could do anything, he heard a roar that echoed across the entire world! The roar was so loud that it shook the very ground under their feet, and Azrael looked up in shock to see a large red dragon flying toward them! The dragon was so large that it blocked out the sun and cast the battlefield in darkness, and there wasn’t a single dragon that could even dream of rivalling its size! The dragon slowly descended to the ground, and many of the soldiers put their hands up to their faces as the massive winds from the dragon’s wings almost blew them away! The dragon slammed into the ground and shook the earth with its landing, and it was so tall that they had to literally crane their heads up just to get a look at its head! It felt like it was touching the sky!
Two more large dragons appeared and landed beside the first one, and the soldiers all eyed the dragons with fear in their eyes as they wondered what was going on! The dragon slowly lowered its head, and a figure appeared and faced the soldiers on the battlefield.
"Princess."
One of the soldiers spoke up in shock once he saw who it was, and the other soldiers began murmuring amongst themselves as well.
"It’s the princess!"
"I thought she was dead!"
"How did she come here?"
"Those are mature dragons! How did she tame them!?"
"Only the Priestess of Fire can tame the mature dragons! Don’t tell me..."
Riyala was wearing a long black gown that covered her body like a cape, and her face was set in an impassive look that showed no emotion. She looked over the fighters below her, and she felt sadness for all the lives that had been lost in the war. Did these people even know what they were fighting for? All this death and destruction was pointless! And these soldiers had laid down their lives for the selfish wishes of a man drunk on his own power. Riyala looked around at all the dragons and dragonriders, and she noticed how the dragons were no longer acting hostile. The dragons could all sense the power inside of Riyala the moment she appeared, and they knew that they were in the presence of someone greater than them, so even if they were asked to attack now, they wouldn’t be able to!
"My name is Riyala, priestess of Rumunaga, and I have come to declare that this war is over. Lay down your arms and surrender."
It was a simple order, and the dragons all took steps back when they felt the power surging out from Riyala at that moment! Riyala hadn’t even moved, but they could tell that there was a great power behind her every word! She was speaking from a place of true authority! Some of the soldiers immediately lost their will to fight and dropped their weapons to the ground once they sensed Riyala’s power, but there were some who didn’t lose their will! These soldiers idolized the Sovereign, and they were willing to lay their lives down for him, so they weren’t going to give up their fight as long as the Sovereign was still fighting for them!
DOON!
Another surge of power came from the other side of the battlefield and the soldiers all turned and some of them shouted when they saw their Sovereign standing on a rooftop opposite the dragons!
"It’s the Sovereign!"
"Take your arms up and fight!"
"We can’t surrender!"
"Hey, who’s that!?"
The soldiers suddenly stopped when they sensed someone else appear beside the Sovereign. Jason stood with his hands in his pockets as he appeared from the shadows, and he looked up at the Sovereign and gave him an instruction mentally. The Sovereign bowed to Jason in obedience, and every single soldier there was shocked by that one act, but they were even more shocked when the Sovereign suddenly jumped off the building and began to move past them. The Sovereign trekked through the battlefield without bothering to look at any of the soldiers beside him, and he only stopped when he was a few feet away from Riyala.
Riyala looked down at the Sovereign emotionlessly, and everyone held their breath to see what was going to happen next. They all thought that a fight would break out from how much pressure there was in the air, but they were all stunned when the Sovereign suddenly went down to one knee and bowed his head towards Riyala in servitude.
Clang!
Clang!
The sound of metal striking the ground echoed across the entire battlefield once that happened! The shock of seeing their Sovereign bowing to the princess was so intense that some men simply lost their grip on their swords immediately! More and more men continued to drop their swords and spears as they were overcome by shock, and slowly they all dropped to their knees. The dragons dropped their heads to the ground, and the dragonborn bowed their heads towards Riyala reverently. But Riyala wasn’t even bothering to look at any of them. Riyala’s gaze was stuck on the man standing on the other side of the battlefield with his hands in his pocket, and Riyala felt a surge of emotion spreading across her chest as she saw him smile towards her. Riyala had never wanted to hold anyone as much as she wanted to hold Jason at that moment, but Riyala knew that she couldn’t do that just yet. She would have time for that later, but for now, she had to be the priestess to her people. Riyala closed her eyes and released a small breath in relief before she finally turned back to the dragons below her and smiled in relief. The war was over, and they had won.
