Ceci’s hand gently covered Luo Qi’s eyes, feeling his long eyelashes tremble restlessly, a slight itch on her palm:
“We don’t know yet.”
Ye Yun gripped the terminal in his hand, his knuckles turning white from the force, before finally taking a deep breath and opening the video.
Luo Qi’s eyes were covered by Ceci, so he couldn’t see the specific images on the surveillance feed, only catching faint sounds.
At first, it was the sounds of Ye Yun and Ye Qi’s mechs battling in the stadium, then Ye Yun assigning tasks, followed by the children’s noisy chatter, and later…
From the sounds alone, Luo Qi couldn’t fathom what had happened at the time. Ceci’s hand hadn’t loosened at all, and Luo Qi could see nothing.
Ye Yun’s gaze fell on the semi-transparent light screen projected by the terminal, his eyes gradually deepening. After watching it once, he closed the terminal: “I will handle this matter.”
Ceci nodded indifferently, and only then did she release her hand from covering Luo Qi’s eyes.
Luo Qi’s hands rested on Ceci’s arm, and he looked at Ye Yun urgently, asking, “Uncle Ye Yun, what exactly happened?”
He was now desperately wanting to know the reason behind today’s events, whether it was an accident or something premeditated.
The first person he thought of was Mo Jue. Could it be that he, still harboring ill intentions, wanted to use the mechs collapsing to disguise it as an accident and kill him?
Luo Qi carefully recalled the scene at the time. He had been paying close attention to Mo Jue’s movements. In his memory, Mo Jue had not approached him or Ye Mu at all.
He looked at Ye Yun. Ye Yun’s eyes were deep and dark, and his face showed no discernible emotion.
“Uncle Ye Yun, what’s the situation? Tell me quickly!”
Ye Yun’s lips pulled taut. He raised his hand and pinched Luo Qi’s cheek: “These are not things a child should worry about, Luoluo.
Trust that Uncle will handle it well.”
Luo Qi frowned. Ye Yun’s words at least conveyed one piece of information: this matter was definitely not a simple accident. But why didn’t Ye Yun want to tell him the truth?
He wanted to ask more, but Ye Yun refused to say anything further.
With no other recourse, Luo Qi tilted his head to look at his father and asked softly, “Dad, do you know what happened?”
Ceci held Luo Qi’s tightly bandaged hands, feeling both angry and pained. “Luoluo, be good.”
Luo Qi pouted. These words meant that even if Ceci knew something, he would never tell him.
He really wanted to shout to the sky that he shouldn’t be treated like a child at this moment, but clearly, even if he said it, no one would believe him.
The stinging sensation from his palms calmed Luo Qi. He tried to call out to 111 in his mind, wanting to ask if it knew what had happened.
However, after calling several times, 111 did not respond, possibly busy with the matter of the android body.
Luo Qi sighed, deciding he could only wait for Ye Mu to come out.
For some reason, Luo Qi suddenly remembered a saying: the walls of hospitals have heard more prayers than churches. He probably had a similar subtle feeling now, and the waiting time passed exceptionally slowly.
Lost in thought for an unknown duration, Luo Qi’s mind flitted between Ye Mu’s injuries and the cause of this incident. Finally, the door beside him opened, and the school doctor emerged.
Luo Qi shot up, his two little bun-like hands clutching the doctor’s white coat: “Doctor, how is Ye Mu now?”
The doctor glanced at Luo Qi’s hands, finding the bandaging method satisfactory. He then ruffled Luo Qi’s hair and said,
“The medical equipment in the school infirmary isn’t the most advanced, but Ye Mu’s injury can be treated. Most of the abrasions and impact injuries are on his back, which look quite frightening. After suturing, he can be placed in the treatment pod for recovery.”
Luo Qi finally breathed a sigh of relief, a faint smile appearing on his face: “Can I go see Ye Mu now?”
The doctor thought for a moment and nodded: “You can go see him. After the first treatment in the medical pod, Ye Mu should wake up soon.
The treatment pod can only hold him for half an hour at a time, so you can go in and wait.”
“Also,” the doctor took out a pen, wrote a few lines on the medical record, tore off the paper, and handed it to Luo Qi, instructing him:
“He still needs to be observed in the school infirmary for a few days. If you are still worried, you can take him to a larger hospital outside.
Because of the wound, it cannot come into contact with water. After he wakes up, he will need to be careful about his diet, and there are some things he absolutely cannot eat…”
Luo Qi held the paper in his hand, carefully noting down every word the doctor said, and finally nodded emphatically: “I understand, thank you, Doctor.”
The doctor smiled and nodded, taking a liking to the well-behaved little boy. After greeting Ye Yun, he left to prepare the medication.
Ye Yun also breathed a sigh of relief and raised his hand to ruffle Luo Qi’s head: “Shall we go in and see him?”
Luo Qi nodded, handing the doctor’s written precautions to Ye Yun: “Don’t worry, Uncle Ye, I’ve remembered everything.”
Ye Yun took the paper: “Good, then I’ll entrust Ye Mu’s care to Luoluo.”
Luo Qi looked determined: “Of course.”
Pushing the door open, the first thing he saw was the large medical pod in the corner. Luo Qi walked over and, through the semi-transparent pod door, could see Ye Mu’s slightly pale face.
He lay in the medical pod, bare-chested. From the front, it was difficult to see the extent of the wounds on his back.
Luo Qi pressed his forehead against the pod door, his little bun-like hands gripping it. The flesh on his cheeks was squeezed into two small lumps as he stared intently at Ye Mu’s closed eyes.
The doctor was right; Ye Mu’s injuries were not serious by the standards of this era. Twenty minutes later, he opened his eyes.
According to Ye Mu’s later recollection, being hit by a mech wasn’t scary, nor were the injuries. What was truly frightening was lying in the medical pod and seeing a certain little bug cub’s face pressed against the pod door, staring at him.
From Ye Mu’s perspective, Luo Qi’s face was somewhat distorted and magnified, but he instinctively smiled.
Luo Qi also smiled. Ye Mu blinked, and Luo Qi’s face looked even more terrifying.
He reached out a hand and placed it on the medical pod, directly opposite Luo Qi’s bandaged hand.
The medical pod door could block sound, and Ye Mu mouthed, “Does it hurt?”
Luo Qi shook his head. He finally calmed down and called out for the doctor.
The doctor glanced at the time, pressed a button to open the medical pod, and checked the recovery of Ye Mu’s wounds.
“The situation is even better than I anticipated. Tomorrow at this time, he will undergo another half-hour treatment in the medical pod, and in three days, he will be able to walk normally.”
