Ye Yun nodded and thanked the doctor. With his help, he carefully lifted Ye Mu out of the medical pod and placed him on the sickbed.
In a spot carefully avoided by Ye Yun and the doctor, Luo Qi saw the wounds on Ye Mu's back.
Several sutured wounds were scattered crookedly across his back, inflicted by sharp mechs or stabbing weapons. The suturing technique was excellent, the blood seeping out had already dried, and he had recovered considerably in the medical pod.
Besides these, there were many bruises from impacts. These marks had already faded to mere traces after treatment.
Luo Qi could almost imagine how severe Ye Mu's back wounds were at the time, judging by the current condition.
He took a deep breath, suppressing the tears in his eyes, and sat by Ye Mu's bed.
"Ye Mu, are you hungry? The doctor said you need to be careful with your diet, so I'll go buy you some millet porridge later."
Ye Mu shook his head. His hair was scattered on his cheeks. He reached out and held Luo Qi's small, bandaged hand, smiling. "I'm not hungry. I was worried about you getting hurt, but you still got hurt."
Luo Qi flexed his fingers, and the small bandaged hand moved with them. "It was Uncle Jial."
He turned to look for Jial's figure, only to find that Jial had disappeared again at some point.
He explained to Ye Mu, "Uncle Jial is the insect general who protects me from the shadows. He's probably hidden himself again."
Sisi said coldly, "He didn't protect you well. He was recalled to the insect planet for punishment."
Luo Qi's eyes widened in surprise. "But it wasn't Uncle Jial's fault. I wasn't careful enough myself."
Sisi wiped Luo Qi's face. "Yes, if your hands weren't injured, I would have punished you too."
Luo Qi fell silent, thinking he would apologize to Uncle Jial next time. Seeing Sisi's stern face, his father might scold him as well.
He awkwardly changed the subject. "Oh, is Ye Mu hungry now?"
Ye Mu replied with a wry smile, "I'm really not hungry."
Luo Qi continued, "The doctor also said that the medical pod can only accelerate wound healing for half an hour at a time. Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?"
Ye Mu still shook his head. The anesthetic for his back wounds hadn't worn off yet, and apart from feeling weak all over, he didn't feel any other discomfort.
With his hand held by Ye Mu, Luo Qi hummed and sat by the bed, unsure of what to say for a moment.
The images of the wounds on Ye Mu's back kept flashing in his mind, refusing to disappear. If it weren't for Ye Mu, those wounds would have been on his own back.
Luo Qi felt a bit lost, not knowing what to say or how to react.
In his previous life, he had lived for over twenty years without a single decent friend.
Children raised in orphanages were often too self-conscious, too calculating, and too cautious.
He always believed that trusting oneself was better than trusting anyone else. For a long time, he didn't know how to interact with others, let alone make friends.
No one had ever been willing to risk their life to save him, nor had anyone been a friend who had lived with him for so long.
It was only now that he suddenly realized he had grown accustomed to Ye Mu's presence and that in his imagined future, Ye Mu would always be there.
Ye Yun, sitting on a chair by the bed, interrupted the two children's "deep gaze" and spoke.
"Ye Mu, you should rest and recover these few days. I've already informed your mother about your injury. She'll be bringing food over soon."
Ye Mu's eyes flickered. He knew his father was trying to tell him that his mother would be very worried about his injury.
Ye Yun smiled slightly and ruffled Ye Mu's hair. He rarely showed such affectionate gestures towards his younger son.
"You saved Luo Luo and kept your promise. I don't think you did anything wrong, but I hope next time you can find a better way to protect Luo Luo while also protecting yourself."
Luo Qi looked up at Ye Yun. For a moment, he thought he heard a choked sob, but surprisingly, there were no tears in Ye Yun's eyes.
He wanted to say something, but nothing seemed appropriate in the heart-to-heart conversation between father and son.
He could only respect them, whether it was a worried father or a child who had someone they wanted to protect.
Luo Qi felt a bit like a scoundrel.
He wanted to apologize to Ye Mu, but he felt that those three words were too shallow, too weak.
So, he smiled and squeezed Ye Mu's hand, saying casually, "You rascal, you can't get hurt again next time, or how can you be my good friend?"
Ye Mu curled his fingers and squeezed Luo Qi's hand back. "As you command, my little Highness."
After saying that, Luo Qi felt a bit embarrassed. He sighed softly, pulled the blanket up for Ye Mu, and whispered, "Don't get hurt again next time. I'll be worried to death."
The faint smile on Ye Mu's lips disappeared. "Okay, I promise."
Luo Qi wiped his eyes and said, "I'll take good care of you these few days. Tell me if you need anything."
Ye Yun watched for a while, then stood up and walked towards the hospital room door. As he left, he patted Sisi's shoulder.
Sisi raised an eyebrow and followed him out of the room.
Standing again in the long corridor, both their expressions had relaxed considerably. Ye Yun spoke first, his gaze sharp as he looked at Sisi.
"Your Majesty the Insect King, why did you not inform me that there was a team of insect generals hidden on Planet Earth?"
Sisi crossed his arms, his expression unchanged. "They have been with Luo Luo since childhood. The Insect Prince must have sufficient protection."
Ye Yun's face turned cold. "This is a school. I guarantee safety."
Sisi did not back down. "Then how do you explain today's incident?"
"Today's incident was just an accident!"
Sisi sneered, "Do you think you can fool me about whether it was an accident?"
Ye Yun took a deep breath. "Having such a team lurking secretly on Planet Earth has violated interstellar law. I hope you will withdraw this team of insect generals."
Sisi looked away and changed the subject. "Your own son is injured, and now you have time to talk to me about interstellar law?"
Ye Yun supported himself with one hand on the wall. "Don't you understand? If this matter is blown out of proportion, even the Chairman will inquire about it."
The peaceful coexistence of Planet Earth and the Insect Race was the scene he most wished to see. However, if this matter was not handled properly, it could even lead to greater conflict.
This was because no leader could tolerate their territory being trespassed upon so easily. Sisi's actions were equivalent to telling the Chairman of Planet Earth that Earth's defense system was severely lacking.
Had Sisi not considered these consequences at all?
