In the private room, five people sat around a round table. This was Ye Ziyu’s first time dining with her four elder brothers.
“Ziyu, you order,” Ye Shaoting turned the menu towards Ye Ziyu.
With everyone having different tastes, Ye Ziyu wasn’t familiar with their preferences. She glanced at Ye Chenhan beside her, pushed the lazy Susan forward, and the menu landed in front of Ye Chenhan.
“Fourth Brother, you order.”
Ye Chenhan, being bold and straightforward, saw through Ye Ziyu’s thoughts and picked up the menu, rescuing her from the awkward situation.
While ordering, Ye Shaoting looked at Ye Ziyu. “How are you feeling today? Are you getting used to things?”
Ye Yubin, who was drinking tea, heard him and uncomfortably placed his teacup on the table.
“Quite well,” Ye Ziyu’s gaze involuntarily drifted towards Ye Yubin.
Ye Shaoting sensed something was amiss. He followed her gaze to Ye Yubin but didn't probe further.
The waiter pushed open the door, and everyone entered with plates, placing the food on the table.
Looking at the table laden with food, Ye Ziyu thought of Di Mingjue. She took out her phone and sent him a message.
Coincidentally, Di Mingjue was nearby on business. Upon receiving Ye Ziyu’s address, he rushed over immediately.
He arrived just as they were about to start eating.
“Mingjue is outside, I’m going out for a moment,” Ye Ziyu stood up from her chair and said to everyone.
Ye Shaoting put down his chopsticks. “Have him come in and join us.”
“Is that convenient?” Ye Ziyu looked at the others.
“What’s convenient or inconvenient? We’re all family,” Ye Chenhan replied.
Indeed!
Ye Ziyu walked out of the private room and brought Di Mingjue in.
The waiter added a chair next to Ye Ziyu and then provided a bowl and chopsticks.
Di Mingjue sat down directly opposite Ye Shaoting.
“Still looking for a company address?” Ye Shaoting asked.
“Kind of,” Di Mingjue replied.
Hearing the hesitant answer, Ye Shaoting chuckled teasingly. “From the sound of it, there’s something else?”
“No, I’ve looked at many places these days, and this is the first suitable one.”
“The building opposite Ye’s Group?”
“Yes.”
Di Mingjue had contacted the agency today to rent it. The main reason was its proximity to Ye’s, allowing him to commute with Ye Ziyu in the future.
It was just across the street, a mere five-minute walk to meet.
Ye Shaoting understood his reason for choosing this location and lowered his head with a cold smile. “Your affection for each other is greater than I imagined.”
To think that such a cold-blooded and heartless person could be so thoughtful and meticulous for someone. If he had shown a shred of humanity back then, she wouldn’t have had to do something foolish.
Seeing Ye Shaoting staring blankly at Di Mingjue, Ye Ziyu looked at Di Mingjue with confusion.
“Big Brother, he?”
“Big Brother!” Ye Chenhan’s shout cut through the air.
Ye Shaoting stirred, feigning composure, and picked up his chopsticks. “Everyone, let’s eat. The food will get cold soon.”
Something felt off, but she couldn’t quite place it.
The meal proceeded relatively smoothly. After leaving the restaurant, Ye Ziyu deliberately stayed behind to have a moment to talk with Di Mingjue.
“Have you and Ye Shaoting met before?”
“No.”
“Really? Are you sure you haven’t thought about it again?”
Even if Di Mingjue racked his brain, they had never met. “The Ye family’s business has always been in Sijiucheng. Our family is in Didu. If it weren’t for you in the middle, these two families would never have had any connection.”
Ye Ziyu was now completely bewildered.
Since they hadn’t met before, there must have been no connection, and thus no conflict. But why did Ye Shaoting, upon seeing him, always make veiled insinuations, as if implicitly saying something?
The more she thought about it, the more her head ached. Ye Ziyu sighed.
Seeing her like this, Di Mingjue advised, “Stop overthinking.”
“I hope I am overthinking it.”
As they spoke, the two arrived downstairs at Ye’s.
