Chapter 441 The Sense of Disparity

After returning to the Imperial residence from the amusement park, Di Mingjue became exceptionally busy. Except for the time they spent together during the night and in the mornings, his voice was inaudible the rest of the day.

After Jiang Ziyu finished applying silver needles to the old lady, she stood by the bed, her mind elsewhere, twirling the ring on her finger.

“Ziyu,” the old lady called out.

Receiving no response, the old lady called out again.

When neither call managed to snap Jiang Ziyu out of her reverie, the old lady had to attempt to move her arm.

Feeling the touch on her arm, Jiang Ziyu’s scattered thoughts were pulled back.

“What’s wrong? You seem distracted today,” the old lady said with concern.

Just a few days ago she was smiling goofily, but today her small face was etched with worry.

Jiang Ziyu glanced at the time, changing the subject. “It’s time to remove the needles.”

Though the needles could be removed in a few minutes, Jiang Ziyu took an extended period to do so.

Watching the silver needles stuck in her finger, the old lady looked at the unresponsive Jiang Ziyu.

“Ziyu, sit down and chat with Grandma,” the old lady instructed.

Noticing the silver needles still in her fingers, Jiang Ziyu pulled up a stool and sat before the old lady.

Stroking the spot where the silver needles had just been inserted, the old lady asked, “Does it hurt?”

“It’s alright. When I was practicing, I always used myself to test the needles, so I’m used to it,” Jiang Ziyu replied, pulling back her hand and pinching her finger, which had a small needle mark.

The old lady sighed deeply, and as an elder, she inquired with concern, “Did you argue with Mingjue? You don’t need to hide it. As someone who has been through it, I can tell with just one look.”

Jiang Ziyu lowered her head in shame.

The proposal at the amusement park had been so perfect that Di Mingjue’s sudden coldness in the following days had caused her heart, which had been lifted to great heights, to feel like it was plunging precariously.

This was precisely why she had been reluctant to develop feelings for him earlier.

Seeing her dejected expression, the old lady guessed and confirmed, “Is it because Mingjue has been too busy lately?”

“Mm,” Jiang Ziyu nodded shyly.

Observing her reaction, the old lady smiled. “Why don’t you ask him what he’s been busy with? Perhaps he’s preparing a surprise for you? Don’t immediately assume the worst in everything; sometimes you should consider the good possibilities based on the actual situation.”

A surprise?

Could it be?

Jiang Ziyu looked at the old lady, her heart filled with hesitation.

“Alright, don’t be troubled. Things will work themselves out. As an onlooker, Grandma can tell you clearly, you need to have confidence in Mingjue. He was willing to give up the entire Di family just to be with you. You’ve experienced so many things, big and small, together. Your heart knows best whether he would betray you,” the old lady finished, indicating she was tired and needed to rest.

Leaving the room, Jiang Ziyu stood in the hallway, her mind preoccupied.

What the old lady said was right. There should never be any doubt between them, especially from her side towards Di Mingjue. The sacrifices he had made to be with her were enough to prove his sincerity.

With her inner turmoil dispelled, Jiang Ziyu went downstairs to the kitchen. Thinking about his long hours and early departures recently, she knew he must not have been eating on time.

Jiang Ziyu entered the kitchen and refused the help of the maids, personally cooking the food Di Mingjue loved.

After spending the morning, Jiang Ziyu drove to Di Jue Group just before lunch.

“Madam?” Shen Lin looked at Jiang Ziyu, who had appeared in the CEO’s office, with surprise.

Looking at the empty office, Jiang Ziyu inquired, “Where is Mingjue?”

“President Di, President Di he…” Shen Lin’s mind raced, and he quickly explained, “President Di has gone to meet a client.”

“Meeting a client? Did he go alone?” Jiang Ziyu eyed him skeptically.

Shen Lin, who rarely lied, was immediately exposed in front of Jiang Ziyu, but he still tried to play it smart. “Yes, President Di arranged for others to accompany him.”
