"The restroom."
As Jiang Ziyu stepped out of the CEO's office, she saw Di Ruihe standing with a somber expression amidst the crowd.
Following the direction of his gaze, Jiang Ziyu arrived at the pantry. She stood by the counter, appearing to wait for the coffee machine to grind the beans, but in reality, her peripheral vision was entirely focused on his every move.
"Cousin-in-law," Di Ruihe approached her proactively.
Jiang Ziyu looked up, noticing the phone she had been holding being put away. She shifted slightly, widening the distance between them. "Is there something you need?"
Not receiving the expected polite greeting, Di Ruihe found himself momentarily speechless.
"Xue Rou mentioned seeing you taking Qianqian for a check-up at the hospital. As her uncle, I'm just concerned. Is Qianqian alright?" Di Ruihe's expression conveyed his anxiety.
*Ding!*
The coffee machine stopped grinding at the opportune moment.
Jiang Ziyu reached out to handle the freshly ground coffee beans, leaving Di Ruihe's question hanging in the air.
On the edge of the counter, a finger tapped restlessly.
Hot water poured over the ground coffee, and the aroma instantly filled the air. Jiang Ziyu turned to look at Di Ruihe, who had been watching her intently. "Would you like some?"
"Yes," Di Ruihe nodded.
There would be time for everything; no need to rush.
Holding the coffee, Jiang Ziyu gestured to the nearby lounge area. "Sit for a while?"
Di Ruihe nodded.
Seated facing each other, Jiang Ziyu held her paper coffee cup, her eyes fixed on its rim. After a moment of quiet thought, she spoke, "What were you asking just now?"
After waiting for a long time, the person before him hadn't heard his words.
Fearing she hadn't heard clearly, Di Ruihe leaned forward. "Qianqian's condition?"
"Oh, you mean about going to the hospital today." Jiang Ziyu appeared relaxed. "It's nothing serious, I just took her to see a doctor about her throat. Grandma mentioned that Qianqian wasn't born unable to speak. It happened when Mingjue was in a car accident; Qianqian was nearby and was frightened."
"Yes, yes," Di Ruihe responded mechanically, his mind occupied with other thoughts.
Jiang Ziyu's gaze swept across his face, and she casually added, "But thankfully, her condition isn't too bad. The doctor said she can recover if she takes her medicine diligently and undergoes specific vocal cord training."
Recover?
A flicker of realization crossed Di Ruihe's eyes.
"The doctor said so?"
"Yes, she needs to go for training regularly every week, along with taking medicine three times a day. If things improve, she might be able to speak like a normal child in less than a month," Jiang Ziyu said without reservation.
Di Ruihe, sitting opposite her, kept a straight face, his thoughts drifting far away.
Jiang Ziyu feigned concern, raising her arm and waving it in front of him. "What's wrong?"
The blurred vision before him suddenly cleared. Di Ruihe realized his absentmindedness and quickly shook his head, explaining, "I remembered I have work to do, so I won't chat with Cousin-in-law any longer."
"Alright, you go ahead and attend to your work." Jiang Ziyu said, sitting back peacefully and watching him leave.
The first day she met Qianqian, she learned that Qianqian's voice issue wasn't caused by fright. She had been searching for the poisoner ever since. Initially, she suspected Di Dongsheng, but after realizing his clumsiness and lack of cunning, her suspicions shifted to Di Ruihe.
Unfortunately, he was cautious and meticulous in his actions, making it impossible to definitively link the poisoning to him. However, he would eventually reveal his hand, and Jiang Feifei's erratic behavior was his self-betrayal.
The grand net had been cast, the bait was in place, and all that remained was for the fish to bite.
Jiang Ziyu turned back, seeing Di Mingjue watching her from behind. The discomfort was quickly masked, and she naturally walked towards him.
"Are you finished with your work?"
"What did you and Ruihe talk about?"
