Chapter 340 The Shady Duo

Mu Liangchen glanced at the three children and pulled Pete to the side.

Sensing he had something to say, Pete followed him to the balcony without asking.

"Zi Yu is in trouble," Mu Liangchen said grimly.

Upon hearing the news, Pete frowned. "When did this happen? She just dropped the children off at my place yesterday."

"Yesterday," Mu Liangchen replied, glancing at the living room. "She took a bullet for Di Mingjue and is in the hospital's intensive care unit."

Pete was surprised but also felt it was normal.

The last time they had dinner together, he could tell there was an unspoken closeness between Jiang Ziyu and Di Mingjue. Taking a bullet for him was definitely partly because he was the father of her children, but it was also due to her own feelings.

"Which hospital, and how is she now?" Pete asked.

Mu Liangchen grabbed Pete's hand, responding anxiously, "I came here to go to the hospital. Could you look after the three little ones for me? Remember, don't let them know Zi Yu is in the hospital."

After instructing Pete, Mu Liangchen made an excuse and left, leaving Pete to face the three clever little rascals.

"Uncle," Yuze came to Pete with a heavy heart.

Pete was scrolling through his phone, looking at the latest urban news from the capital. Feeling a gentle touch on his arm, he quickly turned off his phone. He looked up and saw Yuze's discomfort.

"What's wrong?" Pete scooped him into his arms.

Yuze's hand slipped through the gap in his arm and grabbed his phone. "Uncle, where's Mommy?"

"Your Mommy is busy. Your Uncle Mu has gone to bring her to see you," Pete lied, trying to comfort him.

Hearing that Jiang Ziyu would be back soon, Yuze's dim eyes instantly lit up. "Really?"

"Of course. Would Uncle lie to you?" Pete pinched his cheek and noticed bloodstains on his neck. He nervously pulled down his collar and asked, "Did you have a nosebleed?"

Yuze touched his nose and looked down at his collar. "Mm."

Pete suddenly became anxious. He wrapped his arms around Yuze and lifted him, placing him on the bed. "Don't get up."

With that, he turned and went to the wardrobe. He opened it, pulled out a suitcase, unzipped it, and took out a first-aid kit. He took out medical tools and began to examine Yuze.

After a preliminary check, Pete looked at Yuze with worry.

"Uncle," Yuze called out.

Pete forced a smile and helped him off the bed. "It's nothing. Just don't rub your nose anymore recently."

Sitting up, Yuze tugged at Pete's sleeve. "Why isn't Mommy here yet?"

Pete's hand paused, his movements stopping. After a moment, he pretended not to hear and continued organizing the first-aid kit.

Yuze thought he hadn't heard and asked again. After several repetitions, Yuze came before Pete.

Unable to pretend nothing was wrong while standing in front of him, Pete looked up and took his hand. "There might have been a slight delay. Please wait a bit longer."

As he spoke, he immediately stood up and nonchalantly walked towards the wardrobe.

Getting no response, Yuze followed Pete closely.

Meanwhile, Mu Liangchen had arrived at the hospital and inquired about Jiang Ziyu's current ward.

As he went upstairs, he inadvertently spotted a sneaky figure lurking outside a hospital room. His attention was briefly caught, and he followed the figure to the stairwell.

"Are you in there?"

"Mm, right inside."

"Heh, why didn't they just shoot her dead on the spot?"

Listening to the boastful words inside, Mu Liangchen peered through the door crack and saw the two people speaking so outrageously.

Jiang Feifei pulled Xu Jingya's arm. "Be quiet, don't let anyone hear you."

Xu Jingya nervously looked around and immediately asked, "What do we do now?"
