What to do?
Jiang Feifei lifted Xu Jingya's arm, her fingertips tracing patterns on her palm.
Guessing the written words, Xu Jingya asked with fear, "Are you sure?"
"With such a good opportunity, why wouldn't I be sure?" Jiang Feifei displayed an air of determination.
Their actions were observed by Mu Liangchen, who, sensing they were about to emerge, left ahead of them.
Jiang Ziyu had been moved from the intensive care unit to a regular ward, with Di Mingjue accompanying her bedside.
Mu Liangchen passed by the doorway and saw Jiang Ziyu's condition through the window. As he paused to observe, a nurse entered the room pushing a trolley.
Di Mingjue conversed briefly with the nurse and then moved aside to keep watch.
After changing the dressing and checking the monitors, the nurse came out.
"Hello."
As the nurse reached the turn in the corridor, a voice made her stop. She turned to look at the man beside her with a gentle expression and asked, "Me?"
Mu Liangchen nodded. "I'd like to inquire about the current situation in room 302."
Hospital regulations stipulated that no patient information could be disclosed to others except for family members.
The nurse apologetically refused, "I'm sorry sir, we cannot disclose patient information casually."
"I just want to know if she's doing alright?" Mu Liangchen voiced his curiosity.
After a moment's thought, the nurse replied, "She's doing very well."
Upon learning that she was out of danger, Mu Liangchen breathed a sigh of relief. Recalling the conversation he'd overheard on the stairs, he worriedly took out his phone to contact his bodyguards.
Not only had he arranged for people to be present, but Di Mingjue had also stationed his own personnel in the hospital.
Several hours after the surgery, the anesthetic gradually wore off. The pain within her body caused Jiang Ziyu to regain consciousness. She slowly opened her eyes to a field of white. Turning her head to look around, she realized she was in a hospital.
She moved her numb fingers. Di Mingjue, who was leaning nearby, looked up. "You're awake?"
Jiang Ziyu looked at the dark circles under his eyes and tried to speak.
"Don't move," Di Mingjue gently pressed her hand and picked up the water placed beside them. He carefully held a cotton swab, moistening her lips bit by bit.
Feeling moisture on her dry throat, Jiang Ziyu asked, "How long have I been lying here?"
"A day and a half," Di Mingjue adjusted the head of the bed.
Propping herself up, Jiang Ziyu looked out the window at the darkened sky.
It was already night!
As she turned her head, she accidentally tugged at the wound on her chest. She gasped and looked down at the area wrapped in bandages.
"Does it hurt?" Di Mingjue immediately pressed the call button beside the bed. "Hold on, the doctor will be here soon."
The doctor arrived and changed Jiang Ziyu's dressing, also examining other parts of her body. Reassured that she was out of critical danger and only needed rest for her wounds to heal, he left.
It was only then that Jiang Ziyu felt a wave of fear. When she had rushed forward, her mind had been blank, only concerned for Di Mingjue's safety. Now, thinking back, she was lucky the bullet had missed its mark; otherwise, if she had been gone, what would happen to Yuze and Xiao Ran?
If she had to do it again, she would never rush forward impulsively!
"Does Qianqian know?" Jiang Ziyu asked.
Di Mingjue shook his head. "She's still with Pete. I haven't told her."
"That's good," Jiang Ziyu mumbled.
If Qianqian didn't know, then Yuze and Xiao Ran definitely wouldn't know either.
Raising her head again, she said to Di Mingjue, "You should go back. Qianqian can't stay with Pete all the time."
"I'll have Shen Lin pick her up," Di Mingjue said, taking out his phone.
Jiang Ziyu's hand covered the phone screen. "I don't trust others."
Di Ruihe's incident would surely provoke Wu Xuerou's retaliation. She would not allow even the slightest hint of danger to occur.
