Chapter 267 Giving Birth

“Ow!” Jiang Ziyu shrieked, even louder than Di Jiancheng.

Di Jiancheng, the one who had been kicked, lay on the ground in pain, clutching his calf. His body was too stiff, making his current posture utterly comical.

“Uncle, are you alright?” Jiang Ziyu kindly crouched down and asked.

Before she could extend her hand, Di Jiancheng swatted it away defensively.

With a sharp smack, the back of her hand immediately turned red.

Tears welled up in Jiang Ziyu’s eyes, “Uncle, I didn’t mean to kick you. I just saw something floating towards me and instinctively lifted my foot to dodge.”

“Dodge?” Di Jiancheng gritted his teeth, rolling up his trouser leg to reveal his furry calf. “That’s your instinct?”

The old lady’s walking stick had left no mark, yet her kick had nearly crippled his legs.

Seeing the large red imprint, Jiang Ziyu felt a pang of guilt. She had indeed intended to teach him a lesson, but hadn’t expected that kick to be quite so forceful.

Bowing her head in apology, she remained silent no matter what he said.

“Ziyu, don’t worry about him. Go upstairs and check on Mingjue. Make sure he doesn’t do anything foolish,” the old lady said, looking worriedly towards the second floor.

He had finally woken from his coma, and after a period of blindness, everything seemed to be improving. But now, he couldn’t be intimate with his wife.

Wasn’t this pushing him towards his death? The old lady felt truly heartbroken for him.

Following the old lady’s words, Jiang Ziyu moved away from Di Jiancheng.

As she went upstairs, she could hear the disgruntled shouts from downstairs.

“I’m coming in!” Jiang Ziyu knocked on the door, calling out to the inside, and then pushed the door open.

The room was empty; no one was there.

Jiang Ziyu searched, her gaze landing on the balcony. The window was open, and the wind was fiercely blowing the curtains. Her heart plummeted, and she quickened her pace towards the balcony.

Her hands gripped the open window frame as she looked down.

“You thought I was going to kill myself?” Di Mingjue’s voice came from behind her. He reached out, locked the door, and walked towards Jiang Ziyu with a mischievous glint in his eyes. Holding out his hand, he beckoned, “Come here.”

“I know everything. You and Dr. Lin tricked us. Are you bored? Do you know how worried your grandmother will be?” Jiang Ziyu chided.

Looking at her furrowed brow, Di Mingjue smiled and retorted, “Didn’t you start this whole thing? Besides, how do you know it’s fake? Have you personally checked?”

At the latter part of his question, Jiang Ziyu instinctively wanted to retreat. She was wary of Di Mingjue, fearing he would reach out and pull her back again.

She stood defensively, constantly watching his movements.

“Scared?” Di Mingjue asked.

“Scared of what?”

“What do you think?”

Despite all her precautions, Jiang Ziyu couldn’t escape Di Mingjue’s clutches. Pulled onto his lap, she could clearly feel something pressing against her.

She wasn’t foolish; she knew exactly what it was.

“Liar.”

Di Mingjue wrapped an arm around her waist, his chin resting on her shoulder, “What did I lie about, tell me?”

How could she possibly say such a thing?

Jiang Ziyu struggled, her fingers digging into his arm, “I’m going to tell Grandma that you deliberately tricked us. Let’s see how Grandma punishes you when she finds out!”

The person beneath her didn’t get angry; instead, he burst into laughter.

Di Mingjue praised her, “You truly are naive! Do you think Grandma will scold me when she finds out, or will she urge us on?”

Although Qianqian was in the family, they didn’t have any children together. And in the old lady’s eyes, having a large brood of children, regardless of gender, was the symbol of happiness.

Her expression froze. Jiang Ziyu was utterly stunned. How could she have forgotten about having children? The last time, Grandma had spoken to her privately about this very matter.
