The file bore Di Ruihe’s signature, rendering it null and void.
Di Ruihe stared expressionlessly at the manager, raising his arm to rest it on the manager’s.
A palpable pressure bore down on him, and the manager’s hand trembled beneath the file.
“One must be adaptable. While I am not the CEO now, the future is uncertain. Is it worth appeasing him for the present?”
The words pierced the manager’s ears like a spell. With a thud, he dropped the file onto the desk.
Thud.
A flicker of anger flashed in Di Ruihe’s eyes.
The sight caused the manager’s legs to buckle. He braced himself on the desk, nearly toppling to the floor.
“Void?” Di Ruihe pressed.
His mouth opened, but the manager was too terrified to utter a sound.
Di Ruihe closed the file and stood up, patting the manager’s back.
With the decision forced back into his hands, the manager stared at the document before him, collapsing onto the floor in utter despair.
Other employees entered and nervously helped him to a chair.
“Manager, are you alright?”
“Do you need to go to the hospital?”
Their solicitous chatter only gave the manager a worse headache.
He picked up the file and pushed away those surrounding him.
“What’s wrong with the manager?” a woman asked curiously.
A colleague shrugged beside her, equally bewildered.
Holding the file, the manager approached the president’s office door, his hand rising and falling hesitantly. After much deliberation, he used the file to cover his face.
“Manager Wu?” Shen Lin approached.
Hearing his name called, Manager Wu hastily hid the file behind his back.
“You’re looking for President Di.” Stopping in front of him, Shen Lin glanced at the closed door beside them and inquired.
Manager Wu shook his head, then nodded.
His peculiar behavior immediately caught Shen Lin’s attention.
A corner of the file peeked out from his side. Shen Lin deliberately mentioned, “Is there a document for President Di to review?”
The file would never pass without Di Mingjue’s signature. Manager Wu hardened his resolve and took the file from behind him. He flipped open the signed page and showed the contents to Shen Lin.
Several large characters were printed on it. Shen Lin asked in surprise, “What is this situation?”
With a sigh of resignation, Manager Wu recounted the general proceedings.
The current predicament was his own fault for being too lax. Project files were only accessible to the project team and Di Mingjue. It was a mistake to submit the project to Di Ruihe for him to deliver.
Now that the file bore Di Ruihe’s signature, it was an extremely dire situation. Shen Lin looked at Manager Wu and said sternly, “Let’s go. You will explain this to President Di with me now.”
Looking at the door before him, the manager grabbed Shen Lin’s hand and continuously backed away.
He dared not. He knew Di Mingjue’s temper and work style. If Di Mingjue found out, he would lose his job.
“Manager Wu, do you think by not going in now, and letting time drag on, you can successfully extricate yourself and protect yourself?” Shen Lin looked at the timid and fearful man.
If only he had known this would happen, why did he act that way in the first place?
After a brief struggle, the door was pushed open.
“President Di, Manager Wu has something to discuss with you.” Shen Lin brought Manager Wu in.
Upon seeing Di Mingjue, Manager Wu was as if facing the King of Hell, trembling as he approached Di Mingjue.
Seeing the situation, Jiang Ziyu, as if released from guilt, placed the coffee on the table. “Then I’ll be leaving.”
“No need, continue sitting there.” Di Mingjue cast a glance that stopped her.
At this moment, Jiang Ziyu felt like a caged animal, unable to even go for a casual stroll as she pleased.
Forced to sit there again, Jiang Ziyu watched the quivering Manager Wu.
Was he this terrified to face Di Mingjue?
As she pondered this, Shen Lin approached with the file and presented it to Di Mingjue.
