Chapter 274 Unwilling to Sleep

"Cousin-in-law, aren't you and Cousin just having some playful fun? How can that be considered taking leave?" Wu Xuerou rushed forward.

Her words successfully piqued the old lady's curiosity. She turned to Jiang Ziyu and asked, "Playful fun?"

Jiang Ziyu looked at Wu Xuerou's innocently cute demeanor and saw through her little scheme.

"My sister-in-law misunderstood. Mingjue and I just had a minor spat. Isn't there an old saying that couples who argue in bed make up by morning? Mingjue and I are truly fine."

This explanation completely dispelled the old lady's worries.

Even teeth clash sometimes, let alone a married couple.

With the matter easily resolved, Wu Xuerou was naturally unhappy. She sighed, her words filled with concern, "It's good that you're fine. I just went in to see Cousin, but he yelled at me as soon as he heard my voice, saying something like 'Didn't we agree not to come back?' I was startled. I've never seen Cousin so angry before."

Jiang Ziyu smiled faintly, naturally resting her arm on Wu Xuerou's shoulder. "Sister-in-law, as you said, it's the first time you've seen him so angry. Isn't it normal for people to say harsh things when they're angry? I know you care about us, but saying something like that deliberately could make those who don't know us think you're trying to sow discord between us. It would be best not to say such things in front of others next time."

The old lady felt it made sense and also reminded Wu Xuerou.

She had originally intended to cause trouble for Jiang Ziyu in this matter, but now it seemed she had drawn the fire upon herself.

Even if she had a hundred more mouths, she couldn't win an argument against Jiang Ziyu.

Dinner concluded. Jiang Ziyu didn't want to argue with Di Mingjue. She left the dining room and took Qianqian to her room.

After both of them had washed up, Jiang Ziyu held Qianqian as they lay on her princess bed. Every night before sleep, she would tell a fairy tale. Tonight, for some reason, Qianqian listened to one story after another but refused to sleep.

"Qianqian, are you feeling unwell somewhere?" Jiang Ziyu sat up, asking with a worried expression.

Qianqian shook her head in response.

"Do you have something on your mind then?" Jiang Ziyu asked again. Seeing Qianqian still shake her head and unwilling to express herself, she reached out and touched her shoulder. "If you don't tell me, Mommy won't know and will be very worried about you."

Worried?

A flicker of nervousness crossed Qianqian's round eyes.

Children are the most innocent beings. They will never let down the people they care about.

After a moment, she pushed herself out of the covers. Qianqian brought her writing pad over. The small figure propped herself on the edge of the bed and, looking down, wrote a line on the pad.

"I miss Daddy!" Jiang Ziyu murmured, reading the words aloud as she looked down.

After realizing what it said, she furrowed her brow and looked at Qianqian's pitiful little face.

"Then I'll have him come and keep you company now." Jiang Ziyu stood up to go to the next room.

Behind her, the paper and pen made rustling sounds. Qianqian tugged at her hand, showing it to her.

"We'll sleep with you together?" Jiang Ziyu exclaimed in surprise.

The two of them were like two fire canteens; if placed together, they would cause a huge explosion, leading to mutual destruction.

Jiang Ziyu pulled Qianqian to sit on the edge of the bed and explained seriously, "I know what you're thinking, but Mommy and Daddy had some small disagreements tonight. We're not suitable to be in the same space right now."

Qianqian didn't understand these words. Her eyes looked at Jiang Ziyu with confusion, her heart still wishing that she and Di Mingjue could accompany her together.

Her words seemed to have been spoken in vain. Jiang Ziyu let out a helpless sigh. She tilted her head, looking at the bright light, pondering a solution.

Just then, the lock on the bedroom door began to turn.
