His palm, separated by thin fabric, reached Di Dongsheng's thigh. He reached out to move it, but his hand sprang back to its original position as if by a spring.
Jiang Feifei pressed her palm firmly against his thigh, smiling at Wu Jie. "He's right, we're just ordinary acquaintances. If you must assign a name, then perhaps we're partners! What do you say?"
Pressing down with her fingers, she made Di Dongsheng shiver. Enduring his discomfort, he took Jiang Feifei's hand and placed it in the empty space between them. To prevent her from moving it again, Di Dongsheng held the back of her hand. "Mm."
Unable to touch him, Jiang Feifei became even happier. After all, their current state made them seem like they had an unspeakable relationship.
Wu Jie smiled throughout, but his mind was elsewhere.
"Alice, please get the contract from the drawer."
A few seconds later, Alice placed the contract in front of Di Dongsheng.
The contract was simple, with no other demands beyond those related to the project.
Di Dongsheng was very satisfied with the contract, wishing he could sign the project immediately.
"Young President Di, what do you think?" Wu Jie asked.
Though satisfied, Di Dongsheng did not want to appear too eager. He placed the contract on the coffee table and looked at Wu Jie with a deep gaze. "I've investigated the project Wu's Group is undertaking, and it's a very promising venture. However, regarding the percentages in the contract, aren't they unreasonable?"
If the contract were signed, it would be three for him and seven for Wu Jie, effectively making him work under Wu Jie while retaining decision-making power on his side.
Wu Jie listened intently. "How does Young President Di wish to amend it?"
"A fifty-fifty split," Di Mingjue replied.
The atmosphere instantly turned rigid, and the smile on Wu Jie's face stiffened.
With a fifty-fifty split, Wu's Group would gain nothing. It was akin to handing over the opportunity to profit.
If Di Dongsheng were still the president of Di Jue Group, he would not have uttered a single word against a fifty-fifty split. But times had changed; how could he maintain such arrogance?
"Please allow me to consider it."
Di Dongsheng suddenly felt anxious. He couldn't wait; if he delayed, Di Mingjue would find an excuse to send him abroad. Then, facilitating the cooperation would only benefit Di Mingjue.
"Actually, a thirty-seven split is not impossible. However, if Wu's Group wants Di Jue Group's full commitment later on, it might be lacking."
He spoke tactfully, awaiting Wu Jie's response.
Wu Jie yearned for Di Jue Group, but he had other plans now.
Both sides fell silent for a moment until Jiang Feifei broke the awkward silence.
"How about sixty-forty? After all, Di Jue Group is a major enterprise, and partnering with Wu's Group will be the icing on the cake for Wu's project."
"I have no objections to a sixty-forty split."
Di Dongsheng immediately agreed.
With the matter brought to this point, further refusal would be difficult. Wu Jie hesitated, then reluctantly nodded in agreement.
After signing the contract, Di Dongsheng walked out of Wu's building with a sense of relief.
"Treat me to a meal!" Jiang Feifei hopped lively in front of him.
Di Dongsheng glanced at her. "I have something else to do. Perhaps next time."
Jiang Feifei blocked him again. "I helped you with such a big favor, and you won't even treat me to a meal?"
Still at the entrance of Wu's, it would be too heartless to dismiss her after receiving help. After a moment of internal struggle, thinking he might need her in the future, Di Dongsheng looked at the restaurant opposite. "Let's go."
Jiang Feifei entwined her arm with his.
All the way, Di Dongsheng couldn't shake off Jiang Feifei. As they walked on the pedestrian crossing, with many eyes on them, he could not push her away. Thus, they headed towards the restaurant across the street.
Upstairs, Wu Jie stood by the floor-to-ceiling window. Behind him, Alice returned to the office after seeing them out.
"Mr. Wu, should we contact Mr. Mu?" Alice asked.
The contract they had signed, while seemingly with Wu's Group, was actually with Zy Group, whose actual person in charge was Mu Liangchen.
