Stars yearned for Ye Ziyu to feed him. Seeing that the bowl and spoon had already fallen into Di Mingjue's hands, his closed lips refused to open against his resistant body.
"Not hungry?" Di Mingjue asked.
Facing him, Stars became reticent, unwilling to reveal even a single word.
Sensing his dislike for Di Mingjue, Ye Ziyu reached out and took the bowl from Di Mingjue's hand. "Let me."
Ye Ziyu scooped some porridge onto the spoon. Before she could extend her hand, Stars cooperatively opened his mouth.
Di Mingjue watched in surprise from the side.
The little fellow was playing favorites!
Under Ye Ziyu's attentive feeding, Stars finished the entire bowl of porridge.
"Are you full?" Ye Ziyu asked.
Stars nodded and then shook his head.
Noticing he wasn't full yet, Ye Ziyu handed the bowl back to Di Mingjue. "Go downstairs and get some more from the kitchen."
"Alright." Di Mingjue took the bowl and left.
Only Ye Ziyu and Stars remained in the room. She took the opportunity to feel his forehead again. "Good, the fever has gone down."
She withdrew her hand and retreated to her seat. Her gaze met Stars's focused stare inadvertently, and she asked, puzzled, "Stars?"
"The porridge is here!" Di Mingjue pushed the door open and quickly came to Ye Ziyu's side. He had seen Stars gazing at Ye Ziyu adoringly from outside the door.
His major love rival was gone, and now a smaller one appeared?
Di Mingjue dodged Ye Ziyu's hand, took the porridge, and naturally sat on the edge of the bed. "Ziyu, Qianqian and the others are looking for you. I'll feed him, you go see what the children want."
Having stayed in Stars's room all day, Ye Ziyu had indeed neglected Qianqian and the others. Seeing that Stars was no longer in serious danger and that Di Mingjue could handle him alone, Ye Ziyu left her chair.
Ignoring Stars's disgusted gaze, Di Mingjue held the porridge and insisted on placing the spoon to his lips. "Come on, open up."
Stars turned his head away, giving Di Mingjue no face at all.
"Not eating?" Di Mingjue dropped the spoon back into the bowl.
Stars showed an expression of resistance, arrogantly turning his back to Di Mingjue.
"Fine, if you're full, then don't eat anymore." Di Mingjue stood up from the chair, holding the bowl. As he walked to the door, he looked back again and asked, "Still not eating?"
"Hmph!" Stars snorted coldly.
He had quite a bit of arrogance for his young age!
Di Mingjue, holding the bowl and chopsticks, left the room without looking back.
Ye Ziyu happened to be coming up from downstairs, and they met at the staircase. She looked at the bowl of porridge in Di Mingjue's hand. "You didn't feed him?"
"He's full," Di Mingjue replied.
Full?
Didn't he want a second bowl just now?
Ye Ziyu eyed Di Mingjue suspiciously. "Are you unwilling to feed him?"
"How could that be? I will certainly complete any task you assign me seriously." Di Mingjue placed his arm on Ye Ziyu's shoulder, turning her body and changing her direction.
Confusedly, Ye Ziyu was led downstairs by him. When she realized what was happening, she broke free from Di Mingjue's embrace. "I'm going up to check."
"He's asleep," Di Mingjue quickly stopped her. "You shouldn't go in and disturb him."
Blocked by Di Mingjue, Ye Ziyu paused. After a moment's thought, she chased after Di Mingjue and asked, "You said the children were looking for me. They said they weren't. What are you up to?"
"They weren't? Perhaps my ears are playing tricks on me, and I misheard." Di Mingjue turned and feigned his way into the kitchen.
Hearing their discussion, the children rushed over.
"Mommy, are you and Daddy arguing?"
"Arguing?"
Di Mingjue emerged from the kitchen and picked up Qianqian. "Do you really want us to argue?"
Qianqian shook her head. "I'm worried you'll argue."
Ye Ziyu affectionately tugged at the lifted back of Ye Ziyu's shirt and teased them both, "You two sound like you're reciting a tongue twister."
