"If you don't go, the children won't go either," Di Mingjue said.
Xingxing's room was suddenly filled with people. Xiaoran looked at the sleeping Xingxing on the bed and quietly asked, "Mommy, what's wrong with him?"
"He's sick." Ye Ziyu wiped his forehead with a wet towel, trying to cool his burning body.
Qianqian, standing beside them, looked at Xingxing with sympathy. "Does he have to get a shot and take medicine?"
"Yes, the doctor will be here soon." After speaking, Ye Ziyu turned to look at the children with solemn expressions. "Mingjue, take the children back to their room. You'll disturb his rest if you stay here."
The weekend was the only time the children could spend with Ye Ziyu. They hadn't wanted to go to the amusement park; they had wanted to stay by her side. Now, they couldn't even stay by her side, and the children immediately started to protest unhappily.
"No, I want to stay by Mommy's side."
"We won't be noisy, we'll be quiet."
Ye Ziyu glanced worriedly at Xingxing on the bed. Seeing that he hadn't been woken up, she quickly moved away from the bedside and led the children out of the room. xxs1
The room that had been lively a moment ago was now eerily quiet.
Xingxing opened his eyes and looked towards the doorway.
"Be good, Xingxing is sick and feels very unwell. He needs a quiet environment to rest. As his aunt, Mommy must take care of him when he is sick and has no one else." Ye Ziyu gently instructed the children.
However, her concerns were not understood by the children.
Qianqian said, "We'll be quiet inside, we won't make loud noises."
Yuze said, "We can help you take care of Xingxing too."
Xiaoran nodded vigorously beside them.
Seeing the three children so insistent on staying, Ye Ziyu looked back at Di Mingjue behind her.
"Let's take care of him together, so you won't be too tired alone," Di Mingjue said, teaming up with the children to persuade Ye Ziyu.
Xingxing heard every word spoken outside the room and within the room. Tears welled up in his eyes, and for the first time, he felt the presence of family.
Returning to the room, Ye Ziyu looked at Xingxing, who was still sleeping soundly. "Sit by his side and keep him company, but absolutely do not wake him up."
"Okay." The three children didn't even dare to respond loudly.
Seeing them so well-behaved and sensible, Ye Ziyu smiled with great relief. She checked the time and reached out to touch Xingxing's still burning forehead.
After the family doctor examined him and confirmed it was a common cold, Di Mingjue went with the doctor to get the medicine, while Ye Ziyu stayed by the bed, watching him receive the IV drip.
He pretended to be asleep, and eventually, he truly fell asleep. When Xingxing woke up again, Ye Ziyu was the only one in the room, leaning by his bedside keeping him company.
Staring at her quietly, for a fleeting moment, Xingxing felt that Ye Ziyu was like his own mother.
"You're awake?" Ye Ziyu looked up.
Xingxing blinked and looked at the marks on Ye Ziyu's face that had been pressed by her arm. He turned to look out the window; it was already dark outside.
Ye Ziyu stood up from the chair and lowered her head to feel his body temperature. "You're not hot anymore, the fever should have broken."
Muttering, she then asked, "Are you hungry? I made porridge in the kitchen for you. Do you want to eat some now?"
"Yes," Xingxing nodded.
Seeing how obedient he was, Ye Ziyu affectionately stroked his cheek and turned to leave the room.
The scent of Ye Ziyu filled the room from her prolonged presence. Xingxing looked at the stool she had used and reached out to touch the residual warmth.
A few minutes later, Di Mingjue came up with Ye Ziyu.
"Awake?" Di Mingjue placed the bowls and chopsticks on the bedside table, pulled over the stool Ye Ziyu had used, and sat down heavily. "Here, I'll feed you."
