"Not here," Yu Wenzhou said.
Stepping further inside, Ye Chenhan looked disbelievingly at the open balcony on the second floor. "She doesn't have to be Gu Xiuyu's assistant anymore, why wouldn't she be home?"
Yu Wenzhou glared at him, very displeased with how familiar Ye Chenhan was with Yu Xixi. "What's your relationship with our Xixi?"
"F-friend," Ye Chenhan said, startled by his sudden stern demeanor.
Like Ye Qianzhi, Yu Wenzhou was usually easygoing, but he would lose his temper if his boundaries were crossed.
Yu Wenzhou stared at him. "Just friends?"
He wished for a higher level of friendship, but Yu Xixi wasn't ready for that yet.
Ye Chenhan nodded. He studied Yu Wenzhou's expression, hesitated for a moment, then said, "I like Yu Xixi, and I want her to be my girlfriend."
"Girlfriend?" Yu Wenzhou gritted his teeth. He glanced around, picked up a broom left in the corner by a servant, and said, "You little brat, you've got it all figured out!"
Before Ye Chenhan could even open his mouth to express his feelings, he saw the broom lunging at him. "Uncle Yu, you, you listen to my explanation."
"Explanation, my foot! You little brat, trying to get ideas about my Xi Xi." Yu Wenzhou chased Ye Chenhan with the broom.
If it were Gu Xiuyu, Yu Wenzhou would have been satisfied. But Ye Chenhan was notoriously a good-for-nothing. He spent his days fooling around in bars, and Yu Wenzhou would never push his precious Xi Xi towards a man like him.
The two circled the yard, their voices echoing back and forth over the Yu residence.
Yu Xixi, hearing the commotion upstairs, came curiously to the balcony. She stood by the railing, looking down at Ye Chenhan, who was running around the yard.
"Dad!"
She called out loudly, and the two circling figures in the yard stopped.
Ye Chenhan tilted his head up, looking at Yu Xixi on the second floor, whom he hadn't seen in a long time. He grinned at her obsequiously like an idiot.
Yu Xixi acted as if she hadn't seen him, her gaze fixed entirely on Yu Wenzhou. "Dad, be careful not to strain your back."
Considering his age and physique, he couldn't compare to Ye Chenhan. If he injured himself, it would be a huge loss.
Ye Chenhan sidled up to Yu Wenzhou and slung an arm around his shoulder like a brother. "We're just exercising."
Rolling her eyes, Yu Xixi turned and walked back into the room.
Exercising?
Yu Wenzhou disdainfully pushed Ye Chenhan away and said to a nearby servant, "See him out!"
"Uncle Yu, I'm serious, I'm not joking." Ye Chenhan, seeing the servant approaching him, shouted up to the second floor unwillingly, "Xixi, I came to see you, how are you?"
Yu Xixi and Yu Wenzhou stood in the living room. They glanced at each other and both sighed.
Afraid of being reprimanded, the servants, disregarding Ye Chenhan's tantrums, forcibly pushed him out. Along with the gifts he had brought, they were placed on the steps outside the door.
"Since you don't want to see me today, I'll come again next time." Ye Chenhan shouted inside, "I've left the items here, remember to bring them in!"
Fearing that Yu Wenzhou would come out again, he quickly turned and got into his car.
"This kid is something!"
"Something? More like a persistent nuisance!"
Yu Xixi sat on the sofa, thought for a moment, and took out her phone. She had blocked Ye Chenhan yesterday and he was still on the blacklist.
Should she unblock him?
Forget it, if she unblocked him, he would call her twenty-four hours a day.
Yu Xixi tossed her phone aside and casually picked up the remote control.
The servants brought the gifts inside. Yu Wenzhou maintained his previous stance and told them to throw them out.
"Wait." Yu Xixi looked back at the bags and packages in their hands. "Leave them there. It's a waste to throw them away after they've been brought all this way."
Yu Wenzhou looked at Yu Xixi and nodded to the servants, "Put them on the table!"
